Today is your 17th birthday

Although your birthday has never been a real celebration in any sense, this year, you seems less enthusiastic than any previous year.

You look around your party table with a noticeable lack of party goers, you seem extremely embarrassed of yourself and the events that led up to this moment.

You wonder to yourself how you could have let this happen. Your old friends gone because your own mistakes and carelessness. No new friends because of how you present yourself to everyone. Nothing to really show but a whole cake you must enjoy. Because out of everything you’ve done, you feel the most humiliated by sitting in front of a cake you cannot share with anyone.

You feel the shame of your decisions craw up your neck as you cannot bring yourself to show weakness.

But no one’s watching, so what is there to do?

Your 17th birthday is like the rest, just another day to go on as normal. So forget thinking about presents or getting your hopes up. Forget wanting to feel important. Forget wanting to share your life with friends or companions.

You must get through the day, so you can hope for a better one tomorrow.
