I merged a few recipes of these together. Swapped and changed some ingredients.
Orange
Lemon
Apple
Rosemary
Lavender
Star anise
Rose buds
Rose petals
Hibiscus
Bay leaves
Cinnamon
Moon water
Florida water
Kananga water
Used more of some ingredients than others, depending on the smell you want..
So I used more of the flowery smells.
Not too much of the florida and kananga as they are strong anyway.
I have bottled the water, once it cooled, and hoping it will work with my diffuser- it should do.
Blessed New Moon in Scorpio!
🌚 ♏️ 🌚
Hello Dear Ones,
Blessed “Moon” day!
When it comes to the zodiac, Scorpio is one of the signs that gets a bad rep. And it is wholly undeserved. Scorpionic energy and tendencies are stereotyped as having a one track mind for a certain area (*ahem*!), are accused of being shady and secretive, and far too intense for many folks’ cup of tea.
The main thing with Scorpio and its energy, something to be celebrated, is its transformative power and its relentless pursuit of the truth.
Our lunar mother in her Crone phase is giving us the courage to not only embrace our truth, but make it known. The parameters of it should be clearer to us now than they ever were. Walk its path boldly and without reservation.
Set the intention that the truth really will set you free. ✨
this scorpio season has already started to be transformative, personally. blessed be 💖
NIGHT OF HECATE
November 16 is the Night of Hecate which begins at sunset. This is the night of the Three-formed Goddess. Hecate is part of the most ancient form of the triple Moon goddess as Crone or Dark Moon. This is also the night of Hecate’s supper at the Crossroads. People who worshiped Hecate honoured Her by performing Sympathetic Magick and holding a supper at what they believed to be the Crossroads.
HECATE, GREEK GODDESS OF THE CROSSROADS
Hecate, Greek goddess of the three paths, guardian of the household, protector of everything newly born, and the goddess of witchcraft -- once a widely revered and influential goddess, the reputation of Hecate has been tarnished over the centuries. In current times, she is usually depicted as a "hag" or old witch stirring the cauldron.
But nothing could be further from the image of Hecate's original glory.
A beautiful and powerful goddess in her own right, the Greek goddess Hecate was the only one of the ancient Titans who Zeus allowed to retain their authority once the Olympians seized control. Zeus shared with Hecate, and only her, the awesome power of giving humanity anything she wished (or withholding it if she pleased).
Usually classified as a "moon goddess", her kingdoms were actually three-fold . . . the earth, sea, and sky. Having the power to create or withhold storms undoubtedly played a role in making her the goddess who was the protector of shepherds and sailors.
A lover of solitude, the Greek goddess Hecate was, like her cousin Artemis, a "virgin" goddess, unwilling to sacrifice her independent nature for the sake of marriage. Walking the roads at night or visiting cemeteries during the dark phase of the moon, the goddess Hecate was described as shining or luminous.
In other legends she is invisible, perhaps only glimpsed as a light, a "will-o-the-wisp". Perhaps it was this luminous quality that marked Hecate as a "moon goddess", for she seemed quite at home on the earth.
Some scholars believe it is also was because her mother was Asteria (the Titan goddess of the Shining Light or "Star") or perhaps it was because she sensibly always carried a torch on her journeys.
Like Artemis, Hecate was usually depicted with her sacred dogs, although Hecate and even her animals were sometimes said to have three heads and that they could see in all directions. Although usually depicted as a beautiful woman having three human heads, some images are fearsome indeed (one with a snake's head, one with a horse's, and the third a boar's head).
This farsightedness, the ability to see in several directions at once (even the past, present, and future) featured largely in her most famous myth, the abduction of Persephone. For it was the goddess Hecate who "saw" and told the frantic Demeter what had become of her daughter.
The goddess Hecate continued to play an important role in the life of Persephone, becoming her confidante when she was in the Underworld. Hades, thankful for their friendship, was more than hospitable, honoring Hecate as a prominent and permanent guest in the spirit world. Surely this had the effect of enhancing her reputation as a spirit of black magic with the power to conjure up dreams, prophecies, and phantoms.
Hecate's ability to see into the Underworld, the "otherworld" of the sleeping and the dead, made her comfortable and tolerant in the company of those most would shun out of fear or misunderstanding.
In her role as 'Queen of the Night', sometimes traveling with a following of "ghosts" and other social outcasts, she was both honored and feared as the protectress of the oppressed and of those who lived "on the edge". In Rome many of the priests in her sacred groves were former slaves who had been released to work in her service.
The goddess Hecate was often accompanied on her travels by an owl, a symbol of wisdom. Not really known as a goddess of wisdom, per se, Hecate is nevertheless recognized for a special type of knowledge and is considered to be the goddess of trivia.
Hecate's farsightedness and attention to detail, combined with her extraordinary interest in that which most of us discount as irrelevant or arcane, gave her tremendous powers.
She knew what the rest of us did not.
Not surprisingly, the people thought it best to give the goddess Hecate (and any friends that might be accompanying her) a lot of honor and a fairly wide berth. When darkness descended they wisely retired to the fireside for supper, but put the leftovers outside as an offering to Hecate and her hounds.
That the homeless and destitute were often the actual beneficiaries hardly mattered...after all, they were under Hecate's protection.
In a similar fashion, food was often left at the crossroads to honor Hecate, especially at junctions where three roads converged --what we often call a "Y-intersection".
Frequently a pole was erected at the intersection and three masks would be hung from it to pay homage to Hecate and to request her guidance in helping to choose the right direction.
Three-faced masks also adorned the entrances of many homes, honoring the goddess Hecate who could, of course, wield her influence over "the spirits that traveled the earth" to keep them from entering the household.
It is hardly surprising that a woman who needed to make a trip alone at night would say a brief prayer to Hecate to seek her protection. The goddess Hecate, like her cousin Artemis, was known as a protector of women, especially during childbirth.
Not only was Hecate called upon to ease the pains and progress of a woman's labor, but especially to protect and restore the health and growth of a child.
Similarly, Hecate played a role that, in contemporary times, we would describe as "hospice nurse", helping the elderly make a smooth and painless passage into the next life and staying with them, if need be, in the otherworld to help prepare them for their eventual return to the earth in their next life.
Familiar with the process of death and dying as well as that of new birth and new life, the goddess Hecate was wise in all of earth's mysteries.
The Greek goddess Hecate reminds us of the importance of change, helping us to release the past, especially those things that are hindering our growth, and to accept change and transitions. She sometimes asks us to let go of what is familiar, safe, and secure and to travel to the scary places of the soul.
New beginnings, whether spiritual or mundane, aren't always easy. But Hecate is there to support and show you the way.
She loans her farsightedness for you to see what lies deeply forgotten or even hidden, and helps you make a choice and find your path. Oft times she shines her torch to guide you while you are in dreams or meditation.
Hecate teaches us to be just and to be tolerant of those who are different or less fortunate, yet she is hardly a "bleeding heart", for Hecate dispenses justice "blindly" and equally.
Whether the Greek goddess Hecate visits us in waking hours or only while we sleep, she can lead us to see things differently (ourselves included) and help us find greater understanding of our selves and others.
Although her name may mean "The Distant One", Hecate is always close at hand in times of need, helping us to release the old, familiar ways and find our way through new beginnings.
GODDESS SYMBOLS AND SACRED OBJECTS OF HECATE
Goddess symbols, individualized for each goddess, were incorporated into the worship of the ancient goddesses, were often worn as jewelry, and also used in the household decor as talismans to seek the goddesses special gifts, blessings, or protection. A large number of goddess symbols have survived in statuary and other works of art.
Many of the goddess symbols come from the legends surrounding a specific goddess and were "characters" in her story. Other goddess symbols were derived from the rituals used in the ancient rites of worship of these pagan goddesses.
Hecate, "The Distant One" ( best known as Hecate, Greek goddess of the Crossroads) is often represented by symbols associated with her personality traits and her role as Queen of the Night. Since Hecate is the goddess of witchcraft, it should come as no surprise that many of her goddess symbols play a prominent role in the celebration of Halloween.

Super Casual Mini Spells
Need to fall back in love with your craft? If I’ve learned anything, it’s the little moments that count. Learning to make small, everyday things magical is an art all witches can benefit from. Not to mention, being on tumblr often surrounds users with elaborate, expensive altars which, while totally fine, aren’t always realistic.
Making everyday activites a part of your craft is incredibly helpful for:
- getting back into witchcraft after a long break or hiatus
- beginners who don’t feel ready for a formal spell
- witches with mental disabilities who don’t have the energy for a formal spell but still want to continue their practive
- anyone!!! literally anyone!! everyone !!!!!
Here’s some ideas I had! Feel free to add yours on too :)
much love, @nature-is-punk
Casual Kitchen Spells
-Stir your coffee/tea to the right on days you want a boost of extrovertedness, bravery, and confidence.
-Stir your coffee/tea to the left on days you want to focus on yourself. I like to do this before I paint or take a test!
-Envision your goals and wants each day as you make breakfast. Even if it’s just you pouring cereal and picturing an A on that test, it’s a small bit of mindfullness that can make a big difference.
-Mumble or just think of a sentence or two to serve as a little spell, repeating it three times. Then take three bites/sips to cast it! Bonus points if the food you’re eating coordinates with the spell - i.e, eggs for new growth
-Eating oatmeal? Draw sigils with your spoon!
-My mom always said it was good luck to kiss the tea bag before you brew it…Not sure about this one, but might as well!
Casual Bedroom + Bathroom Spells
-Coordinate the colors you wear with your want for the day! Personally, my favorite way to do this is with underwear and socks, since I don’t exactly fancy wearn head to toe orange on days I want to be a bit more positive.
-Leave a few second pause before your feet first touch the ground in the morning, let yourself just have a little moment to dedicate your renewed energy before taking your first steps.
Make sigils with your:
Moisturizer
Foundation
Lip Balm
Sunscreen
-Each time you run the brush through your hair, repeat a little spell for personal growth and health! Clean your brush frequently so there is no old hair and ‘old energy’ adulterating the spell.
-Envision anything negative or toxic in your life being scraped off your skin each time you wash your hands.
-Shower magic is the absolute BEST! Enchant all your soaps so each wash gives you a little boost!
Casual Workplace Spells
-Draw sigils with your eraser on your assignments, portfolio, resume, etc.,
-Consistently churning out sub-par work? Try washing your pens off in the bathroom sink, imagining the water cleansing any sluggish energy. If anyone asks, you were eating something sticky and it got on your pens.
-When going up or down stairs, stick to the right side to attract new friends and maintain confidence.
Stick to the left side to focus on your own path and self.
Casual Misc. Spells
-If walking down the street a distance, come up with a little spell chant. Each step, say a word or piece of the spell.
-Enchanting your shoes - basic, but a must have. I have each of my shoes echanted for the places I generally wear them to–my heels are specialized for beauty and confidence, while my everyday sneakers for resilience and positivity.
- Find a spider in the house? Get a cup, and as you take it outside, explain to it that you could have easily killed it because it was in your home, but you benevolently let him go! Ask a question–the spider will answer within 7 days! Be on the lookout for signs.
- This only works with spiders you find in your house! Not outside.
Always be on the lookout for tiny signs. Finding the magic in little things is important.
Lavender and what to do with it!
So I have an awful lot of lavender to harvest and part way through I realised I’m not too sure what to do with it all. So I took to some researching online and have a few ideas;
Lavender wreaths for above beds (originally was going to be just a dried bunch but these are gorgeous) one for home, uni and other family members who want them (maybe two for uni...)
Lavender crown. Just because.
Lavender wands one for actual magic and others for keeping clothes/shoes smelling good.
Bed spell sachets (for family and a few friends. (I need to work out a good spell))
Any extra will either be stored as bunches and/or several airtight jars of the flower heads!
These will then slowly get used up in bath spells/other spell works as a focus or an ingredient
Anyone got any other ideas??

Banishing Nasty Spirits
If you’ve been following this series of posts, you know why a witch might work with spirits, how to establish a relationship with a spirit, and how to communicate with spirits. What we haven’t yet discussed is how to get rid of spirits that are bothersome, annoying, or malevolent.
I was planning to talk about pathworking and astral travel before getting into banishing, but in light of some asks I recently received on Tumblr, I think it’s important that we take a moment to discuss how to get rid of spirits that, for whatever reason, you don’t want around.
There are lots of reasons you might not want a spirit in your space. Just like with people, some spirits just aren’t a good fit for you and your practice. Part of being a spirit worker is cultivating a “spirit team” of beings that you can have healthy and beneficial relationships with.
Some spirits are mischievous and like to cause trouble. If you find yourself on the receiving end of lots of spirit pranks, you may want to gently encourage them to move along. And there are some spirits out there who just genuinely hate humans and will go out of their way to cause mental, emotional, and even physical harm.
Don’t get me wrong — malevolent spirits aren’t common. In my experience, the vast majority of unwanted spirits are more annoying than dangerous. I’m not saying this to scare you or make you paranoid. But these things do exist, and it would be negligent of me not to mention them in a series on spirit work.
There’s a reason that one of the most common truisms in witchcraft is, “Never conjure something you can’t banish.” If you’re going to be working with spirits, it’s a good idea to know how to banish them just in case. With that being said, here’s how you can clear out any nasties that may be lingering in your space.
Cleansing
The first step is to kick those unwanted spirits out of your space. There are lots of ways to do this, so choose the one that is the best fit for you.
Cleansing with fire and smoke is a very old and very simple method. If this is the way you decide to go, there are several magical substances you can burn to banish spirits. Burning sulfur or asafetida will clear out just about anything, but they both smell awful and are potentially toxic, so you’ll want to get an okay from the other people living in your home, burn a little at a time, and make sure you have lots of windows open. (Some people say sulfur and asafetida will banish all spirits, not just the unfriendly ones, so you may have to invite your spirit team back in later.) For something that smells a little more pleasant, you can try a mix of frankincense and myrrh resin, or burn a mix of dried rosemary, sage (garden sage, not endangered white sage, please!), and bay leaves — but again, make sure you have windows open, because these get smoky. Plus, you want the windows and/or doors open so the spirits have somewhere to go when the smoke chases them out.
If smoking up your living space isn’t an option for you, you can manually clean your space with a wash or powder. If you have hardwoods, you can make a floor wash with water, salt, lemon juice, rosewater, lavender essential oil, and either bay laurel or rosemary essential oil. (This is adapted from an uncrossing bath in the book Utterly Wicked by Dorothy Morrison.) Use this mixture to mop your floors, as well as to wipe down your walls and furniture. If you have a humidifier or essential oil diffuser, diffusing some of this mix would also be a good idea.
If you have carpet, you can make a powder by combining salt, dried lemon peel, dried roses, lavender flowers, and bay leaves. You’ll need to ground this really fine, so I recommend using a coffee grinder or food processor. Sprinkle the powder on your carpet, let it sit for a few minutes, and then vacuum it up. I would supplement this by also diffusing a mix of saltwater with rosewater, lemon juice, and lavender and/or bay laurel essential oil. If you don’t have a diffuser, at least sprinkle some saltwater around the room and on your belongings.
No matter which form of cleansing you decide to use, it’s important to verbally state your intention to banish these unwanted spirits from your space. Tell them out loud that they are no longer welcome here and that they need to leave. Don’t be rude about it, but be firm and speak clearly and with confidence.
After you cleanse your space, it’s a good idea to cleanse yourself as well to remove any psychic ties to the spirits you’ve just banished. The easiest way to do this is with a ritual bath. The floor wash recipe mentioned earlier can also be used as a psychic cleansing bath. Other options include a bath with salt, frankincense, and myrrh or a bath with salt, rosemary, sage, and bay laurel. You can use essential oils for your bath, or add the resins and herbs to a cheesecloth bag and drop it into the tub for easy diffusing and cleanup.
If you don’t have a bathtub, you can cleanse yourself in the shower. Place two cups of salt in a bowl. Add lemon juice, rosewater, lavender essential oil, and either bay laurel or rosemary essential oil. If you don’t have essential oils, you can add dried lavender and crushed bay leaves. Add some of your favorite body wash to create a scrub (if you don’t have body wash, use olive oil). While in the shower, use this mixture to scrub your skin — visualize yourself scrubbing away any psychic gunk you might have picked up.
Protection
Once you’ve removed any unwanted spirits from your space, you want to lay down some protection to keep them from coming back. There are as many ways to ward off spirits as there are witches, but here are a few ideas to get you started.
One option is to create a ward. You can do this by anointing the door frames, door knobs, and window frames of your home with a protective oil blend and/or by creating lines of salt across your doorways and just inside your windows. You can use other protective substances if you prefer. As you lay down these protections, visualize a protective shield around your home, and speak aloud your intention to keep harmful spirits out.
Iron is said to repel spirits. Keep a railroad spike or other large piece of iron under your bed to prevent nightmares and to keep spirits from messing with you while you sleep. There’s an old superstition that says that hammering iron nails into the four corners of your home protects it from spirits — this may not be possible if you’re renting, but you can create a similar effect by displaying a piece of iron in each of the four corners of your home. Hematite is a crystal that is high in iron, so it can be used in a similar way to ward off spirits.
Aloe is said to protect from negative spirits, and to bring protection and good luck more generally. It’s also a common house plant that is easy to care for, so this method of protection is especially great for witches who need to keep their practice a secret. Keep several aloe plants in your home to protect those who live there.
For witches with a crafty side, making a witch bottle is another option for protection. There are lots of different recipes for witch bottles, but the basic method is to fill a bottle with sharp objects, add something from your body, and hide it somewhere outside your home (traditionally buried on the property, but leaving it in an outbuilding works just as well). The idea is that any nasty spirit that comes looking for you will be attracted to the bottle (because it contains part of your body), get caught by the sharp objects, and be trapped. To create a simple witch bottle, fill a mason jar about halfway with sewing pins, then add a bit of your hair and some of your fingernail clippings, and finally fill it with liquid (traditionally, this liquid is your own urine, but if that makes you uncomfortable vinegar will also work). If you want, you can also include some of your favorite banishing herbs, resins, or crystals.
Religious symbols can also keep nasty spirits away. If you identify strongly with a religion, display protective symbols from that faith in your living space. For example: a Christian witch might hang up a crucifix or set out a statue of Archangel Michael, a Norse pagan witch might hang up an image of Mjolnir, a Hindu witch might display a statue of Durga, etc. Sometimes the most effective way to keep nasty spirits away is to let them know that you’re under the protection of someone more powerful.
When dealing with unwanted spirits, the most important thing to remember is that you do not need to be afraid. You are a powerful witch, and you are more than capable of getting rid of them. Be confident in your abilities and know that whatever happens, you can handle it.

✪How I dry my herbs and such✪
My mom actually taught me how to dry herbs, and it’s a bit different from what I’ve seen around.
What you’ll need:
Plants/herbs
String/yarn/twine
Maybe thumb tacks
And if you’re gonna be storing it:
Air tight container
Silica gel packages (optional, but recommended)
✪To start off, take your plants and rinse them off. It’s not as big of a deal if your stuff is home grown, but if what your drying has pesticides or anything else undesirable on it you don’t wanna dry that in. Also, if your gonna be using them for cooking or anything going into your body, be safe and wash ‘em off.
✪You wanna take your yarn and herbs, and tie them into bunches. And make sure they’re upside down too, that helps. You wanna make sure that you don’t over crowd them, you want air getting to all the leaves.
✪Next, take your yarn and do one of two things, either tie it to the pulls on your friendly local ceiling fan, or just thumb tack it to the ceiling. I usually do the ceiling fan, because A, I don’t care for ladders, and B the ceiling fan helps circulate the air around the plant, not only making the whole thing go faster but making sure nothing gets moldy.
✪After that, wait. Dried plants usually either become brittle or leathery, or both.
✪If your plant has a stalk that you’ll be keeping, give it an extra day after you think it’s dry just to be safe. Once your plants are fully dry, it time to store them. Rather simply, stick ‘em in a jar. I like using old bottles from thrift stores and random stores, but mason jars, old clean pill bottles, Ziploc bags or containers, and glass bottles of any kind work wonderfully. I put silica gel packages (harvested from vitamin bottles) in with them so when it gets humid my plants won’t suffer.
Hopefully this helps, happy drying lovelies
Protection Magick (A Masterpost)
I’ve discussed warding and covered the basics, but now lets get in to some practical techniques your protecting yourself, your home, and your family.
This is going to be a long one, so buckle up.
Iron: A powerful tool against fey, most other spirits, and against evil and malevolent spells.
Sew bits of iron (such as nails) into the hems of your clothes. Only works while wearing those clothes.
Wear an iron ring or bracelet.
Wrap an iron coffin nail in brown silk and carry it with you for protection against curses.
Wearing a pentacle is another simple protective practice amongst witches. The pentacle represents the five (yes, five) elements of fire, water, earth, air and akasha (spirit). Therefore, a pentacle provides the protection of all of these elements. Water guards your emotions. Air guards your intellect. Fire guards against actions brought against you. Earth guards against physical harm (especially physical harm from magickal sources). Akasha obviously guards against negative energies and spirits.
Circles
Circles are also powerful protective symbols. An unbroken circle can be designated as a “safe-zone”, allowing only that which is allowed into it. Of course, this is best used when practicing magick, as the raising of energy can occasional attract the wrong kind of attention. However, only those energies that have been specifically invited into a circle are welcome to stay.
I like to use the elemental method, instructions for which are here!
Circles, however, can be cast with a number of different things:
Chalk
Charcoal
Salt
Fiery Wall of Protection powder
Red brick dust
Vervain
Vermilion
Whiskey
Rum
Flour
There is much more, but these are some basics. You can also cast invisible circles using a wand or Athame (Made of iron or steel is best).
When and where to cast a circle:
Draw circles during rituals and spells.
Draw circles around sickbeds
Draw circles around women in childbirth
Draw circles around your own bed, and the especially the beds of infants and young children.
Salt
Salt is a powerful protective tool. Salt represents the earth, and therefore also represents that Earth Mother. Salt is also cleansing, and repels malevolent spirits.
Sage your home often, cleansing it of negativity, being sure to leave a window open for the negativity to escape. Be sure to get in corners and in low places as well as in high places. When finished, close the window, and then pour salt on all window ledges and in front of all outside doors. Natural sea salt works best. I also, for added protection, draw a pentacle with my wand over the doors and windows.
Re-do this once a month for best results.
Spiritual Protection
Spirit guardians and guides serve as excellent protection against anything unwanted. However, do not make the mistake of thinking their protection is good enough. It is absolutely essential to learn how to protect yourself instead of relying solely on your spirit guide to do it.
Your Spirit Guide/Guardian
Your Spirit animal/familiar may also provide protection to you as well. Usually, your spirit animal is usually separate from your spirit guardian. For example: My spirit animal is a Wolf, but my Spirit Guardian’s animal (yes, spirit guardians have spirit animals too) is an Owl.
There are also more advanced theories of magick such as thoughtforms and tulpas that are created with a certain purpose. Usually these spirits are created within your own astral temple and then made stronger over time. Again, this is advanced magickal theory.
NOTE: I would not, unless you know exactly what you are doing, enter a contract with any spirit/deity/demon/angel for use as a protective measure. Often, these contracts contain dangerous “clauses” that cause more harm than good.
However, if you happen to have a connection to your spiritual ancestors they are usually willing to provide protection without entering a contract. At the same time, this protection only lasts as long as it suites them. It’s possible that your ancestors are loyal to you. Or it’s possible that they will abandon you the first time danger arises.
Spells and Such For Protection
This list of spells will likely grow over time as I find/write more spells for the purpose of protection.

🌱The Basics of Witchcraft🌱
This is a small excerpt from my coven’s lessons. I’ll continue to post these so witchlings, or witches, can have this information! I hope it helps.
Witchcraft is, in my opinion, the practice of manipulating energy forces into your intent. This can also be simplified as the practice of magick. You can aid it by tools and materials, but no matter what, you are manipulating energy. That is why energy work can be very important.
The Craft started wayy back, from the start of human civilization. Before we started to get scientifically advanced and didn’t know that much, we would believe in the supernatural, that a god or spirit did this and that. Witches were the mediators between humans and the higher powers. Religion and Witchcraft may have gone hand to hand back then, but it isn’t always the case. You can practice witchcraft without believing in a higher power or deity. Here are just some things to know before stepping into the Craft:
Witchcraft ≠ Religion
It isn’t a game(To specify, don’t half-ass a spell. It either might not work, or worse, create chaos. We can learn about this next lesson when we learn about Energy work).
Witchcraft can be used for anything and everything you want it to be, It’s really flexible.
There are morals and ethics to learn about in the craft you should pay attention to
It is an enhancement, not a replacement to your life.
To elaborate on the last point, here is a document by Brian Windvexer that should be looked at:
Don’t Let Witchcraft Erase Who You Are:
Don’t become dependent on Tarot readings to make decisions
Don’t feel like the day is ruined if you left the house without drawing your card for the day
Don’t feel helpless if you can’t figure out a spell to help
Don’t rely on witchcraft alone to improve your relationships
Don’t forget how to speak out because you can hex at home
Don’t forget how to be confident without a candle spell
Don’t forget to discover for yourself because there are so many free resources online
Don’t get panicky if you can’t explain it with your new beliefs
Don’t lose your friends because they don’t understand the new you
Don’t avoid going out with friends so you can buy more herbs and candles instead
Don’t give up your other hobbies to practice endless energy work or Divination
Don’t neglect your job or studies to read witchcraft books instead
Don’t ask yourself ‘what would a witch do’. Ask yourself, ‘What would I do.’
Witchcraft is an enhancement to life, not a replacement for life.
There are different types of witchcraft and I’d say they are all valid. But with every practice, there are certain basics to them.
They are:
Protection
Grounding
Centering
Meditation
Visualization
Protection - To guard and prevent harmful energies to an area/being, especially in Magick practice.
There are 3 types:
Wards: protection of an area (ie. House or room)
Shields: protection of a being (ie. You, someone else, maybe a pet)
Circles: Temporary protection ground for rituals
Here’s the best part of protection, you can think of protection in so many ways, may it be a ring of fire, a giant bubble, a castle wall, whatever your heart desires! You can even more than But, I suggest putting up protection that is similar to a membrane, so things still flow freely, letting the good things in and the bad things out.
There are plenty of techniques to set up protection, starting with visualization. Imagination is a powerful tool, and is very important in practicing energy work and the craft. Some added protection is made by adding protection-associated materials, like Salt for example.
Grounding - To stabilize your energies and stay down to earth
Grounding is a great recommendation to keeping your energies in control and staying connected to the earth. It can help recharge you with energies.
One technique to help ground yourself is to visualize a root shooting from the bottom of your spine and digging into the earth like a Tree. Gather the energies from the earth, and give off all of the negative energies you feel. Cycle the energies until you feel refreshed. You can make 2 roots and have one give the good energy and the other giving to the earth the negative energies.
It can also be as simple as shaking off and stretching!
Centering - Getting your shit together (shit as in energy).
Centering is great as it can help make a state of mindfulness and gets you to stay present in the present. It’s great mentally. It helps get scattered energy into one. Literally, getting your shit together. Centering can help as well in controlling your energies and gathering yourself up so you stay together. How energy works is that you tend to throw bits and pieces of your energy all around different areas(sometimes you may not even know it), and sometimes you just need to recharge. Most of the time you should ground after a centering.
Here’s one technique to practice centering: visualize scattered energy, making you less bright and more dull, very dim as a person. Then, imagine the pieces of energy flying back at you, morphing around you into one bubble, like a puzzle piece. You start to glow brightly again.
Meditation - Being one with the thoughts/self, calming yourself down and staying mindful and aware.
Meditation can do soooo much. It helps you mentally, physically, and spiritually. It can help your energies stay in check, and It can do so much more than that. Before you astral travel, you must fall into a state of meditation. There are two types of meditation, Concentrated and Mindful. Concentrated is when you focus on one object, sound, or mantra. Mindful doesn’t focus on anything specific, just being aware of everything that passes by in your mind. In witchcraft, if it used to help discover who you are, as well as communicate to others(spirits/deities/etc).
Now, the number one thing to focus on when meditating is to breathe. Long, regular breaths help calm down. Get into a quiet area. Now get into a comfortable position, either cross-legged or laying down. Breathe. 4 counts in, 4 counts out. Clear your mind. Now, be aware of your mind.
Disclaimer: Now not everyone has to follow these things, It’s just a suggestion. Experiences vastly differ from mine.
