i just wish people knew the actual meaning of terms like proship/profic and not just what antis spread online. i've had many friends who put "proship dni" in their carrds because they thought proshippers supported irl pedophilia/incest/etc.

most proshippers (i say most because there are always gonna be bad apples and i don't want to generalize) define proshipping as:

understanding that fiction can affect reality, but not always, and it most definitely does not equal reality

allowing people to explore problematic content in a safe space (fiction) within reason

respecting people's fictional preferences, even if you don't necessarily like them

most proshippers do not define proshipping as:

believing fiction can never affect reality

supporting pedophilia, incest, beastiality, etc. in real life

liking all problematic fictional content
