[-except the last photo. It’s just my favourite photo of Mick & Dave🥹]
Oh my god, I just finished this book, it was so good but heartbreaking.. especially between Mick and David’s friendship at the end :,)
This excerpt specifically:
“ What hurt Karn most was the loss of Sylvian as a friend and the resultant disharmony of a group that had been a family to its members since their teens… There was a framed photo of him and David above his bed; he really had considered him his best friend. After the Yuka thing [Mick’s Girlfriend, Yuka Fujii left him for David.] he didn't take that picture down, but he just didn't sleep in the bed any more. He slept on a sofa bed in the lounge. He was so, so depressed. ”
Poor Mick!! This was such a lovely book though, I highly recommend it. So much good insight into the band <3
Duran Duran & Japan ˚ ༘♡ ⋆。˚
“Across the hall from Japan, Duran Duran were recording their first album. 'I do remember Duran Duran showing up to pay their respects to the band,' remembers Nicola Tyson, friend and photographer of Japan. "I remember them piling into the studio, a bunch of awkward lookalikes - they were nobody at the time and it was a big non-event!' 'I remember them hanging around,' says Dean. 'We knew they were listening in and taking notes. We were probably a bit aloof.’
Duran, and in particular John and Nick, were huge fans of Japan. Karn: '[Previous to meeting at AIR] Rich and I got a cassette from a band who wanted us to produce their album, and it was a band called Duran Duran, who we'd never heard of. We listened to the tape..’ Karn was not taken with what he heard at the time. "So we wrote back and said, "Sorry".
We found that it sounded so similar to us that they wanted us because of who we were and not that they thought we could do anything good with it.' Barbieri: 'Duran Duran were very pleasant the few times we met them, but suffice to say we didn't really like the tape at the time and ultimately passed on it.”
John Taylor: “Nick and I first saw Japan at Barbarellas in Birmingham on their 'Obscure Alternatives' tour and were blown away. They were so fresh, while every other band in town were tripping over each other in a rush to play the same three chords, Japan were brave in many ways. When I think back to that night the image that first comes to mind first is beautiful Mick, red hair and Ibanez bass, shaved eyebrows and ballet shoes, shuffling around the floor like a docile robot, playing also with great beauty and verve, punching delicate holes in the fabric of the songs; in Mick Karn's basslines no notes were ever wasted.”

Face of the Mirage.
So, I finally watched "Lawrence of Arabia," in which Lawrence himself was the least interesting to me, but Sherif Ali immediately became my favorite 🤭
proposing a new genre of fiction called an anti-romance where u r presented w a couple at the start & the story is about their emotional journey towards a catastrophic break up
Im deeply abnormal about themmmmm!!!😭
I feel so sorry for mother hen Ali, falling in love with a masochistic blond man. what a fate!🫠
To make up for the damages heres them kissing:

"You say it's getting up to no good? We consider it very good, indeed." -Peter O'Toole
Recently started listening to Japan. I really like their music and also their bassist Mick Karn.
The bass line for ‘Visions of China’ has been stuck in my head for days. It’s even catchier than the lyrics.
happy one year anniversary to me crying over them </3 aka Lawrence/Ali - Sufjan Stevens edit </3
A tribute to Until You Both Make the Right Choices by closetwriter_24
It's one of my favourite Lawrence of Arabia fics. I love History AU and Soulmates AU - this fic is like a wonderful blend of the two.
Here's a scene from chapter 4 with Ali and Lawrence in a tent during a winter of the Crimean War. I love this scene a lot <3
“Your hand?” the Englishman asked. “How’s the burn?” Removing the handkerchief of compacted snow, Ali extended his palm. It still stung, but the worst of the pain had subsided. “Not so bad.” “May I see it?” Lawrence asked. He knew the Englishman well enough to see through the little excuses. Prideful men wore disguises to hide their desire for another’s touch. Ali’s “yes, please” was breathless with comprehension.
