My mom said it was a good thing today is Friday. My brothers and I were definitely slow this morning and mom was pretty annoyed.  My brother Dylan had to run the last two blocks to get to school on time. Hope he didn't get marked late! But, since he has to be at school early, Lucas and I are always on time. We even had enough time that my mom was able to fix my hair in a fun twist. My favorite!

I'm so glad that I remembered my raincoat this morning! It started to rain right as we went into school. Of course, this means that we'll have to play in the gym for recess. I don't really like that. Sometimes I get to color. But it's too crowded to run around.

Mom says we might get to go apple picking on Sunday. I'm hoping that I get to pick some Honeycrisp apples. Those are my favorite! And then we're going to make LOTS of applesauce! And maybe Dad and Lucas will bake a pie. Yum!

Love what I'm wearing? I do! My Cami dress from Pink Chicken is so soft and comfortable, I'm pretty sure I will sleep in it tonight. I am also wearing Pink Chicken leggings from last Fall. There are still some on sale at lollie. There's just one Petit Bateau yellow rain coat left - someone should definitely get that! It's the best raincoat ever! Mom says it's a size 3.  The boots are Frye. A bit of a splurge, but I wear my boots all the time, so mom said it was ok. They are super comfy.

a little of this... a little of that

Our summer just flew by and I never got to post any pictures from our return to Cannes in June! I had so much fun going back to the beach, visiting some of our favorite spots and finding new ones.  My very favorite place is still a restaurant called Brouette de Grand-Mère.  It is family-owned just like my mom's shop and the owners remembered us from last year.  They are so nice and the food is awesome!  Plus, the restaurant next door has a dog named "Bob" who comes out to visit.  He's a Cane Corso and is so sweet.  My brothers and I always make sure to say hi to him and give him some love.  He has the saddest eyes, but we're pretty sure he's a very happy dog.  I bet he gets lots of treats!

We made sure to wear our red, white and blue on the 4th of July, although we did miss seeing the fireworks.  Last year, we lucked out and there happened to be a huge fireworks display on the 4th.  This year, we still got to see fireworks while we were in Cannes because they have a pyrotechnic festival every summer, it just wasn't on the 4th.  Oh well.  We still had lots of fun!

I'll be sure to tell you all about Barcelona - that was one of the new spots we visited.  My mom and dad had been before.  My mom even showed us the hotel where they stayed.  It was right across the square from a big cathedral.  We found some new adventures in Cannes, too, but I'll save those for later.

Now I must get back to my books (while wearing my very favorite pants!)

Back to School! Back to the Blog!

Wow!  Summer definitely got away from us, but now that I'm back in school, my mom said we also must get back to blogging.  We'll definitely share some of our summer experiences, but, for now, it's back to school week and I'm having a blast making new friends and getting to wear my lollie clothes to school instead of a uniform!

Lucy Owl Visits a Glacier

I definitely couldn't go see something as cool as a glacier without letting Lucy Owl tag along!  So, on our second to last day in Alaska, I got on the skiff with my mom, dad, brothers and Lucy.  I made sure to put on her yellow sweater so that she wouldn't get cold.  There was even hot chocolate and cookies on the skiff.  Lucy had a cookie, but turned down the hot chocolate.  She said she liked the cold.

The glacier we saw is called Dawes Glacier.  It was really big!  In the morning, before we left the boat to visit the glacier, my dad and I got to go kayaking through the icebergs. 

And at dinner, we had ice in our drinks from a few pieces of ice that we pulled into our boat.  Our centerpiece was a piece of ice with candles set in it.  I loved it!

I was so sad to leave the boat and all of my new friends.  I've made my mom and dad promise that we'll get to go back someday.  I made my mom take this picture when we were leaving with me and my friend Liberty.  She was so much fun and taught me a lot about whales!  I hope that next time we go we'll get to see an orca!

Spring into Summer...

It was HOT yesterday!  I was so glad that I talked my mom into letting me have the Lola Dress from Pink Chicken!  It kept me nice and cool all day!  And boy did we have a busy day!  First, my mom had to go find some motion sickness stuff for my brother because we're going on a cruise next week in Alaska (yes, I will blog about our trip!) and my brother got really seasick the last time we were on a boat.  It was pretty gross.  After we found what we needed, I wanted to walk down to the lake, so we did that. 

Then, my mom said that we needed to go over to Anton's Greenhouse to get some plants for the backyard because it's impossible to grow grass when you have lots of trees and dogs and kids running around.  I had lots of fun there.  I love flowers and gardening and they let me play around in the clippings and put together a bouquet to take home and put in a vase.

We got A LOT of plants, so when we got home, I helped my mom decide where they should go.  I'm most excited about the ones around the chicken coop.  I really wanted lots of flowers, but my mom says it's hard to have flowers in really shady areas.  She showed my a lot of plants, though, that do flower in the shade.  I really love the Bleeding Hearts and the Hydrangea didn't have any flowers, yet, but my mom says that they will have pretty white flowers soon.  I'm very excited about them!

My mom says that she is pretty busy this week making sure everyone is ready to go to Alaska, so the next time I write, it will probably be from there.  Hopefully I will have lots of cool pictures to share with you!

Wow!  Summer decided to make an appearance and I couldn't be happier!  I even talked my mom into stopping at the beach on our way home just so I could dip my toes in the water.  We've been walking to the shop a lot the last couple of weeks and it has been so much fun!  Of course, mom just HAD to take some pictures when we were at the beach, but I really like this one, so it was ok.

I didn't know it was going to be so hot yesterday, so I was lucky that I listened to my mom and wore my Dagmar Daley Chemise Dress.  Chemise is actually a french word.  It means "shirt" - but I think this is more of a "Soleil" Dress (soleil means sun). :)  Either way, it was the perfect dress for a hot day like yesterday.

Hopefully the summer weather will stick around and I'll be able to wear more sundresses.  They make me very happy.

Impatiently waiting for Spring!

Well, you can't see my foot tapping, but it is.  Where is Spring???  I can't wait to wear pretty sun dresses and pack my winter coat away.  I'm tired of tights and boots and hats!  So, today, I decided that it might not feel like Spring, but I was going to wear my new Estella Dress from Neige.  My mom says that print is "Liberty," which lots of people really like.  I don't know why it's called liberty, but I do think it's pretty and spring-y.  Of course, my mom said it was too cold to wear all by itself and made me put on tights and a long sleeve tee and sweater.  Ugh.  She said it's one of the things she likes about Neige, though - that everything layers very nicely so that I can wear a pretty sundress on a not-so-pretty day.  (The tee and sweater are Neige, too.)

To make up for making me wear a sweater and tights, my mom said she would wrap my hair, so we did that this morning.  I think it turned out really well.  And it's fun and colorful.  She said maybe we will offer to do them at the shop next week for all those people who aren't going away for Spring Break.  So watch lollie's facebook page for those details...

An escape...

I just couldn't wait to try out some of the pretty new summer dresses that have been arriving at lollie over the last few weeks, so we decided to tag along with my dad on a business trip to California.  It was amazing to feel the sunshine and be able to swim instead of bundling up in winter boots and coats!  And I just loved my new "bicycle dress" from Fiveloaves Twofish!  I'd probably wear it every day if my mom would let me.  I just wish it would get warm enough here to wear it!

Our hotel was super cool - it had water slides and a koi pond!  We even got to feed the koi one morning!  It was so much fun!  I keep asking my mom when we will get to go back...

Now, if only Spring would come to Chicago!

Living it up...

Last night I got to have dinner with one of my very favorite people, Nili Yelin!  You might know her as The Storybook Mom.  How cool is it that I got to have DINNER with her?!?  When she's not telling stories, my mom says that she does marketing/pr (I don't really know what that is) for local businesses.  How did our dinner come about?  Well, a few months ago, we went to 27 Live and didn't have a very good experience and they found out through a Yelp review that my mom wrote that our first time there was pretty bad.  My mom said she felt really bad about having to write a bad review, but she hoped that they would see it and make some changes.  The cool thing is that the restaurant saw our review and Nili said she knew the person who had written it and they asked her to invite us back to give the restaurant another try.  So that's what we did last night.  And we got to do it with Nili which made it LOTS of fun (even though I was kind of tired and in a rotten mood which made my mom kind of angry with me...).

So, what's the verdict (a big word, I know, it means decision)?  We really liked it!  The food was much, MUCH better.  Unlike last time we were there, the service was very good and the restaurant was pretty crowded - my mom didn't think it was too loud, but the noise bothered me a little bit.  She says I need to toughen up.  I had the mac and cheese and it was very tasty - I made my mom try it and she agreed.  My mom said that the scallops were her favorite.  Oh, and my brother and I stole almost all of mom's dessert.

After we finished, we got to take a tour of the rest of the place - we got to see the band warming up, I even got to take a peek into the whiskey lounge, which my dad thought was very cool (even though they were out of my dad's favorite - FEW Rye).  And Nili says that they are going to start doing some kids concerts, which sounds very cool to me!

My mom says it was really nice of the people at 27 Live to reach out and invite us back and she was really happy that we had such a great time.  They even told us that they developed their kids menu based on her feedback.  Now I just have to remind her to go and update her Yelp review. :)

Hello, sunshine!

The sunshine earlier this week has definitely got me dreaming of Spring and even though today is quite cold and windy, I just had to wear my Abigail Dress from Pink Chicken.  It is kind of perfect for a day like today.

My mom and I have been trying out loom knitting after having so much fun with the french knitting doll.  We finished all of the friendship bracelets for Valentine's Day and decided we wanted to try something new.  So... we knit a hat...

And then we knit three more - one for my little cousin, and one for each of my brothers.   Today, we might try to knit some leg warmers because my Nona asked for some.  But, that's after I finish my homework!

Ladies who lunch...

On Monday, we got to visit with my mom's friend Julie, who owns Virtu, one of our very favorite shops in Bucktown.  We had so much fun talking about our shops and our chickens (we brought some eggs for Julie) and our matching outfits!  I promise we didn't plan this - but I did think while I was getting ready in the morning that this outfit was something that Julie would really like!  I was right! :)

After lunch, I was kind of worn out, so I hung out in my room with two of my dogs who were also tired from climbing the stairs after their morning naps.

Imogen goes on a buy

On Wednesday, my mom had to go into the city to do lollie's Fall Appaman buy.  Naturally, I got to tag along and even got put to work helping choose some of the clothes that my mom ordered for the shop.

My favorite was the long down coat in pewter with a hot pink lining.  And there were some great tees, too - with birds, of course. :)  It is a lot of fun to get to see all of the clothes before anyone else!  I can't wait until my mom takes me on a buying trip to New York (I've gotten to tag along to NY, but she hasn't taken me to the shows, yet.).  Maybe this year!

I'm wearing Llum's sideline dress in Asphalt.  I always get compliments on it and I love to wear it because it's so soft and comfortable!  I like pairing it with LeBig's Graphic Lurex Tights in Powder Grey because they add a bit of sparkle, which is always good!

Stir Crazy

Yep.  It's finally getting to me! And I'm being very goofy and fidgety and driving my mom CRAZY.  Thankfully, I really love my language arts tutor who I meet with on Fridays and I'm willing to make an effort to behave for her.  Otherwise, I think my mom would figure out a way to ground me FOREVER (especially after she caught me dancing around and being silly when I was supposed to be studying!).  Oh well. :)

A bit of color to brighten your day...

It's Wednesday, a swimming day, and if you looked up, you could almost pretend that it was a sunny day in March and the trees were just starting to think about blooming.  It was a nice thought.  Made me think of beach days, too.  So, I'm glad I decided to wear something bright and colorful.  No more drab winter colors for me!

The Polar Vortex can't stop us!

Between failing technology and falling temperatures, we've fallen a bit behind with our blog. :(  With school cancelled (even though I'm homeschooled, it means my brothers are home...), we spent yesterday playing with the chickens - we think they have gotten a bit lonely.  Even Bronte, who never wants to hang out with us, jumped down from her perch for a pet.

Today we're spending time at Mom's store.  My brother and I built a slingshot using my Piggy Paint nail polish and are firing bits of paper across the store.  My mom is thrilled.

And how do I keep warm when it's 10 below? Why, I wear my long down coat from Petit Bateau, of course!  My mom got it for me last year and it still fits me perfectly.  My purple tee is from Joah Love (and my brother's striped shirt is from Wonderboy).

Reading is for the Dogs

Busy day today. Got to hang out at school for a bit and visited a couple of first grade classrooms with the principal.  That was after our last Brass for Beginners class before our recital next week.  Then home for some school work - reading and math - and off to swimming!  Today, I sat and read to one of our dogs.  She thought the story I was reading was pretty funny.  She's such a goofball.  My mom says that sometimes it's easier to read to the dogs instead of reading to her or my dad.  She says that there are even dogs who go to schools and kids get to read to them.  I think that's really cool!

I'm growing radishes and carrots in my bedroom.  They are starting to get really big.  I wonder if I'll be able to eat them.

Before I go to bed, I like to sit and color.  I often draw pictures and write notes for my mom and dad.  I want to make sure that they know I love them (and I don't want to go to bed!).  Oh, and, if my violin teacher is reading this, I played my song 6 times today!  I'm getting pretty good at it. :)

Today I wanted to wear my elephant tee from Appaman again and my grey Neige skirt.  It's definitely one of my favorite outfits.

A little bit of sunshine...

As the cold lingers, I am dreaming of sunshine and beach days, so my mom thought it would be fun to go back to some beach pics from the summer.  This one is from Cannes where I got to spend trois semaines l'été dernier.  And my beach cover up?  An old favorite from kit + lili (probably a size 3 - I really wish they would come back!).  Of course, the hat was all the rage in France this summer, so everyone in my family got one.

A lot of people have asked about how my chickens are handling this crazy cold... and they seem ok.  They even still lay eggs for us.  My mom and dad made sure that the coop is warm enough for them.  My mom offers to let them out every day, but they usually choose to stay inside.  Sometimes, though, they do like to play in the snow.
