Life got away from me for the past 18 months or so and I somehow managed to stop checking Tumblr in my evenings as a result. But I'm back! Because other social media sites are absolutely garbage. (I am on Bluesky, which seems to be taking off. But nothing quite beats screaming into the void on Tumblr).

Anyway, hi again! It's been a minute. I defended a dissertation last June and finished my PhD! I started a remote postdoc with the world's least involved supervisor in July. I was on the swiftly dying academic job market for two years straight which was hell. I finally landed a tenure track assistant professor position at a university that is a great fit, as of a couple weeks ago! The two cats and I are moving to Michigan! My work is in a bit of peril with the current federal actions, but I guess that means I'm doing something right. Looking for ways to resist and support each other now.

Btw, privatization is stealing from *you.* You are the public in "publicly owned." Oligarchs are coming in to take the things we all share ownership of as Americans, like Medicare, Social Security, National Parks, PBS and scrapping them for parts they find profitable.

The right is planning to rob us and quite literally want us to thank them for the privilege by calling it "government efficiency."
