Hey there Townies and Stonies welcome to my YouTube channel. The only place that spills all the T on everything Stonewall and looks under every Thistle and Thorn in this ‘one wrong decision from a bad TikTok apology’ town. If you want more content like this don’t forget to like and subscribe. But don’t blame me if you end up hearing about yourself one day. That’s just how things are in this crazy town now that Mayor Lodge in charge.

Speaking of being in charge. It looks like big changes are happening at the Lima Heights Institute or should I say Stonewall Prep. Fancy name, but does the present match the wrapper? Or is it still a just a Ring Pop in a Tiffany’s box. Only time will tell. I did happen to see the new Headmaster though. Rode in on a motorcycle. Ain’t that special? Is it just me or do there seem to be a lot more motorcycles around town? Maybe Mayor Lodge has the controlling interest in a Harley dealership.

Now I’m not one to speak ill of the students over at the school, but lately they are looking all kinds of wrecked. Black eyes, cuts, bruises? Is that the way to turn over a new leaf? Just ask Ryder Lynn and Archer Clarington. Is getting into fights the way to impress the new management, gents? I think not. And how about Blaine Evans? Wasn’t he the victim of a crime some years ago? A full scale missing person and now this? This town might just be bad luck for ya kid.

And just like that, we slip into Fall. Thankfully Texas weather is a little more moderate and we won’t quite need to slip into sweater weather just yet. Still, the nights are a little longer, a little cooler, and the days a little less brilliant. But, it’s a wonderful time of the year.

I do like the Fall. One feels like the season embraces you in a warm hug. The food, the holidays, the glow of turning leaves. For myself it also tantalizes with the harbinger of snow. Though I suppose I will not have snow this year. Do you have a favorite thing about Fall.

True. My heart is in it…sometimes it’s like I live because my work lives. Our hearts beat together. Oh? I’m glad to hear that. Is it someone in town…or someone at the house maybe?

It’s always a thing to be grateful for, no matter how it comes to us; and I think I’ve spent a while learning that.

That is, I think, the goal of so many to have work so seamlessly intertwine with ones life and loves. Sam Evans, Sir. He is so kind to me and has quite captured my admiration.

It would be nice if gratitude came easier, but maybe the work we put into it is necessary for us to become better.

…I’ve never thought about it like that. Indeed the things we leave around, the things we put around us, even the way we arrange what’s around us, says a lot about who we are. I did have a safe trip, thank you. Your manners are in good form, has anyone ever told you that? I admire that.

It is. The quick passage of the moments makes it hard to savor each one, too. Have you managed to savor time while some of us went off for the last of the summer days?

Indeed. I remember stepping into my childhood home after my parents had passed it was like walking into a museum of their lives. I’ve not had the heart to change a single thing. I try, sir. Manners are our guide to kindness. Not a substitute of course, but it does help point us in the right direction.

I believe so. I know it’s not what others would call savoring, but I thoroughly enjoyed long summer days of reading and occasionally swimming. How was your own summer Sir?

I actually didn’t, and I could kick myself. I wanted to but I let work get in the way…among some other things. I think that’s the best way to spend a summer. With mystery and romance. Did you have any real life mystery and romances or were those all strictly literary?

Work is of course very important. And your work helps so many. It must be hard not to get wrapped up in it. I had no real life mysteries, but I think I may be having a real life romance, though I might be reading too much into it all. Regardless it is lovely and I am grateful for it.

Thank you, Atticus. It’s not Yale, but I think that may be for the best. I’m looking into some apartments closer to campus, but I’m not ready to leave Harborage in the dust, by any means. This is just my way of starting to say thank you.

But I haven’t talked to you in ages, so how have you been?

It might be perhaps true that Yale or any Ivy League school is a little overrated. Any school is only as good as the energy you bring to it. And you bring a bright and beautiful energy, I think.

I have been quite well. I’ve been doing a lot of reading. Not much other than that, though I’m going on another date with Sam though. That is exciting isn’t it?

The words we read and the words we write never say exactly what we mean. The people we love are never just as we desire them. The two symbola never perfectly match. Eros is in between. -- Just one of many highlighted passages I enjoyed of Caron's Eros the Bittersweet. It was a great read. Hello, Atticus.

That is beautiful Sir. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. Did you read anything else this summer. I’m afraid I took a different approach in my summer reading. There were a great many mysteries, romances and simple, but fun summer fare.

Blaine nodded his head. “Definitely,” he agreed. “There are still times, still days where I feel like I’ve taken a hundred steps backwards. It’s not even so much about putting work into getting to know myself but really feeling comfortable in being myself and continuing to discover myself.” Blaine listened carefully, and it was obvious Atticus was being sincere and honest, which meant a lot to Blaine, especially considering the other’s growing connection to Sam. He understood what the other man was saying though. In some ways it was how he’d felt upon arriving at Harborage; upon meeting Mr. Warner. Blaine reached for Atticus’ hand and just held it for a moment. “I want to give back everything that’s been given to me since I’ve arrived. And I am grateful not only for your friendship, but for the smile you bring to my Sammy’s face.” He nodded his head. “Probably one of the fancier places in Fair Grove. But as I said before, this is the kind of place my parents would bring me if they were here.”

Blaine shook his head and blew out a breath. “I do love, and care about Cooper, more than you could possibly understand. And it goes two ways. There is very little in this world the one of us wouldn’t do for the other,” he admitted. “It’s a complicated, complex relationship, and in someways I think it’s another something our parents didn’t understand. All of the reasons people might think we wouldn’t get along, are actually the reasons why we’re even closer. At least, in my mind.” A waitress appeared with menus and filled their water glasses and Blaine took a sip. “We’d protect each other from them.”

Atticus squeezed Blaine’s hand when he took hold of it. He was still getting used to how wonderfully affection Blaine and Sam and Miss Mia. After leaving college for England he rarely was touched, hugged, hand held, or anything of the like. It was lovely. “You do give back Blaine. You’re given me so much and I know that generous spirit permeates everything you do.” He ducked his head and blush. It was a bit hard to believe that he put a smile on Sam’s face, but it made him feel good. “I would have him smile

He was sure it was more than he could or would ever understand. “You have a special bond. It’s lovely and powerful.” He ticked his head to the side trying to picture two young boys growing up and feeling that loyalty to each other, that love and fierce protectiveness. He pictured them as young men, each switches, trying to understand how to find the balance between the competing halves of themselves and being each other’s armor against parents who despite (one would assume) loving their boys, couldn’t understand them. “Perhaps that can be the strength you take into this meeting with your parents. No matter what happens you will have Cooper to stand by your side. Take that love and understanding that you have for each other in your heart and hold it tight as you meet them.” He smiled at the waitress and accepted the menu and took a sip of the water. “Would you like to practice some things?” He looked at the menu hoping to find something not terribly expensive.
