Before You Plan 2026, Check Your Responses
There’s a story you’ve probably heard before—even if you didn’t grow up in church. One moment. One event. The birth of Jesus.
But what makes this story hit different at the start of a year isn’t the event itself. It’s the responses of those who experienced it.
Same moment. Same reality. Completely different reactions.
And honestly? That’s exactly how life works.
Three Responses. One Moment.
When Jesus was born, Matthew's account reveals three groups of people:
The wise men
King Herod
The scribes and teachers of the law
All of them heard the same news. All of them had access to the same moment.
But what they did with it changed everything.
1. The Wise Men: Curiosity That Led to Worship
The wise men didn’t have all the answers. They didn’t have the full Bible. They weren’t “perfectly positioned.”
But they were watchful. They noticed the star. They asked questions. They read the signs.
They moved.
And they didn’t stop halfway. They didn’t get distracted. They didn’t say, “Well, at least we tried.” They persevered until they found Him.
Their response turned curiosity into encounter—and encounter into fulfillment.
2. Herod: Insecurity That Turned Deadly
Same birth. Same child.
But Herod felt threatened.
Instead of asking, “What does this mean?” He asked, “How does this affect me?”
Fear hijacked his thinking. Insecurity clouded his judgment. Power mattered more than truth.
And when insecurity goes unchecked, it never just stays internal—it spills over and hurts people.
3. The Scribes: Knowledge Without Readiness
This one is wild.
The scribes literally had the scrolls. They knew the prophecies. They were supposed to be the ones preparing everyone.
But they missed the moment. They waited until a problem showed up before opening the book. They didn’t live prepared—they lived reactive.
Access to truth didn’t equal alignment with truth.
This Isn’t About Christmas
This isn’t a feel-good holiday post. This is about you. About us. About real life.
We’re quick to judge people for what they did or didn’t do.
We build assumptions. We collect offense. And eventually, it turns into broken relationships, unnecessary conflict, and emotional exhaustion.
But what if life isn’t grading you on what happens to you…? What if it’s grading you on how you respond?
The Real Question: What’s Going On Inside You?
Here’s the hard truth: How you respond to what happens around you is determined by what’s happening within you!
The same Jesus brought:
Nearness and fulfillment to the wise men
Fear and destruction to Herod
Indifference and missed timing to the scribes
Same moment. Different outcomes.
Not because of status. Not because of intelligence. But because of response.
As 2026 Moves Forward…
You might be thinking about how to make 2026 different from 2025. New goals. New habits. New plans.
Here’s one thing you can’t afford to miss:
What you get in life is determined less by what people do to you—and more by how you respond to what they do.
So ask yourself:
Are you living watchful—or distracted?
Are you responding from insecurity—or from peace?
Are you prepared—or only reactive?
Because moments will come. Opportunities will come. Challenges will come.
The question is: Will your response position you to recognize them when they do?
And more importantly… Are you becoming the kind of person who’s ready before the moment arrives?
Let’s talk about it. Which response do you relate to most—and why? Drop it in the comments.
But more importantly,
Take 5 minutes and reflect: What situations in your life keep triggering the same response patterns? What’s happening inside you that needs attention?
Write it down. One area of your life where you need to change your response—and one step you’ll take this week to prepare better.

Reblogging again because I just realized that if I had this advice in high school I would’ve never made a tumblr account.
Also works for most of those news sites like WSJ or NYT that only let you read a little bit, or block adblockers. Also some disable the scroll bar but if you go to the right side of the console after hitting F12 and look for the CSS element “overflow” and change it from “hidden” to “visible” then you can continue scrolling for free. Might have to click around on different parts of the page to find it, but it should work.
There’s also a Firefox/Chrome extension called Behind The Overlay that does all that with one mouse click. Used it for years; what a time saver.
And if you encounter a true paywall, use Archive.Today to bypass it. Just paste the paywalled url into the blue “search archived snapshots” box near the bottom:
If you use uBlock Origin, you can also use the Element Zapper.
I haven’t tried it myself, but here’s the Firefox version of Behind the Overlay: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/behind_the_overlay/

BOOST.
Absolutely vital information to have if you live where the waters freeze over.
I especially appreciate this guy's commitment to actually showing the steps himself. That cold-shock response is a bitch and willingly subjecting himself to it couldn't have been fun.
I don’t live anywhere near water like this, but I am still memorizing this knowledge because:
* I might use it in a story someday.
* Any knowledge that staves off the dying is good knowledge.
Some kids passed away today in my region from falling in icy water, so thought it was important to boost.
I call this hairstyle ‘ticking time buns’
Before everything happened... six children grew up together on Destiny Islands unknowning of what was about to happen in their future...
Tonight however one of these six were awake...
Nightmares
Vor shivered and pulled her blanket closer around her body as she walked down the beach of Destiny Islands. She had taken Hermod's boat out to the small island where all her friends played and was letting the water lap at her feet. The young girl had woken up from a nightmare and had decided to go out to clear her head. That was how Vor got to standing on the beach.
With a sigh, Vor sat down, paying no mind to her blanket which was now in the wet sand as she buried her face in her arms. She sat there in silence for a few moments, her mind drifting with the sound of the ocean. She wanted to forget about her nightmare.
It was the sound of crunching footsteps on sand which brought her back.
“Did you have another nightmare Vor?” Vor turned slightly to see Xehanort a few paces away from her spot on the sand
“Big Brother...” She sniffed and wiped at her eyes, and Xehanort walked the rest of the way forward to sit down next to her and wrap an arm around her shoulders. She wordlesslessly turned so she was pressed against him.
“Oh it must have been a bad one, Little Star, if you’re acting like that. Tell me about it?” Xehanort put a comforting hand on her head and waited for her to speak.
Silence echoed for a few moments more before she spoke, not entirely trusting her voice straight away.
"We were in that... that place again, the world of white walled towns and ribbons and windmills.." she murmured out, trying to keep her voice from wavering too much, and failing. "W-we were all there, and... a-and Er-eraqus was yelling at you! He was re-rea-really mad."
Vor sniffed again, biting her lip to try and stop more sobs. Xehanort brought up his other hand and started to card his fingers through her hair.
"And then i-i-it all f-fell away," the teen girl continued, finally letting out a sob. "Y-you were in th-that gr-graveyard again in the r-ra-rain..."
A finger pressed to her lips to stop her. Xehanort's face was sad as he looked at her with shining silver eyes. He had heard that part of the nightmare before. The graveyard in that world of white cites, the graveyard and four graves...
"Shhhh Vor," he soothed, pulling her closer. "Everything is alright."
"You promise?" Vor whispered, looking up at the silver haired boy with glistening eyes. His thumb came up to whip away her tears. "You promise everyone will be okay?"
"Of course silly," Xehanort replied with a grin, bopping her nose. "I'm your big brother, it's my job. I'll keep you safe. As for Eraqus, well, he's probably wrong. We both know I'm always right!"
Vor started to giggle and the silver haired boy ruffled her hair playfully. They sat there for a moment watching the waves, both laughing quietly together.
"You wanna go back now?" Xehanort asked after a while, looking up at the night sky which was starting to lighten. Vor shook her head and snuggled closer to the boy who had become her brother. He let out a small laugh. Vor wanted to watch sunrise? She'd likely be asleep again before it came.
"Hey, Vor?" Xehanort asked, staring across the ocean. When the girl hummed, he continued. "Even if Eraqus and I were to get into an argument, you'd be here to help us come to an agreement, right?"
"Of course!" The girl replied, her face gaining a mischievous smirk. "And if you don't, I'll wack you both with my hammer!"
The pair started to laugh again, nightmares all but forgotten.
I just had a wild thought. What would have happened if Sora had never met Donald and Goofy in Traverse Town? Like, Destiny Islands fell a day or two later than in the games, and Donald and Goofy had already left before Sora got there. Travel between worlds at that time wasn’t possible without a Gummi ship (or use of Lanes or Corridors, but Corridors are for those who use the darkness (and Pluto…) and no one knows how to use the Lanes since the loss of Aqua, Terra, and Ventus), so Donald and Goofy would have no reason to linger in Traverse Town if they couldn’t find the Keybearer. It’s not like he could be jumping from world to world, after all. And unless they need to restock supplies, they have no reason to come back. They’re return trips would be separated by weeks at best, if they even returned at all.
So Sora, “My friends are my power!” Sora, wakes up and fights the heartless all alone. We know Cid has a Gummi ship, or is at least building one (don’t remember which). Maybe Cid feels bad and lets Sora use his to find his friends. He trains with Leon and Yuffie in weapons fighting, and with Aerith in basic cure magic or something, and he goes off into the worlds, not knowing any of the “rules”, or any of the stories of keyblade wielders besides what the Hollow Bastion gang could tell him.
Donald and Goofy keep hearing whispers of a kid wielding a keyblade running around, but by some cruel twist of fate they never cross paths.
When Sora finds Riku in Traverse Town while on one of his frequent supply runs, there are no new friends there for Riku to feel replaced by (Besides the HB gang, but they aren’t accompanying Sora willy-nilly across the worlds). There’s nothing stopping Riku from joining Sora on the Gummi ship.
There’s nothing stopping Sora from following Riku into the Dark.
Spending more time with the Radiant Garden crew and being a level 4 friend to unlock tragic backstory early, Sora has heard in great detail about the fall of Radiant Garden/Hollow Bastian and “knows” it was Riku’s new benefactor Maleficent’s fault. He would tell Riku he’s been lied to, but maybe the revelation of the identities of the castle Riku has been staying in and the fairy who gave him his sword and training are held off until they are already on the way to HB. Instead of them arguing (or instead of the argument escalating at least) Sora agrees to give Riku a little bit of trust as he insists Maleficent and her friends are a little shady, but Maleficent does care about him/ helping him– she’s done so much for him already and she is going to help bring back Kairi–she’s trying to create a new era not destroy anything, and, while she does control the heartless (and has promised to teach him too) she talks more about just that, control and holding back the darkness from consuming, not reckless destruction.
Sora at least agrees to listen, and Riku agrees that they can strike down Maleficent and every last one of her council together once they don’t need them anymore if it proves necessary. Riku’s promise sounds a little…harsh, but Sora hears the word together and it makes the apprehension hard to hold onto.
Maleficent is shocked at the accusations Sora throws at her. Is she calling Sora’s friends liars? No, but the poor children were deeply mistaken or mislead, and she can prove what really happened. Enter the Ansem reports, not scattered or won but freely given to our two boys to teach them the truth.
The Ansem Reports not only show who was “really” responsible for the fall of RG/HB and cast a shadow on the RG Group’s “hero” Ansem the not so Wise, but it causes SOD Ansem’s plans to go a little sideways as Riku bolstered by Sora is not giving in to the obvious ultimate villain. The boys decide to stick with Maleficent instead, a much smarter choice.
Sora being Sora wants to share the new information with his friends in Traverse Town right away, but Maleficent warns him to be cautious, they’ve suffered under wrong impressions for years and they were brainwashed by Ansem before, Sora saw what Ansem tried to do with Riku after all…which, now that they’re speaking about that, how do they know Ansem didn’t lure them to darkness long ago? Leon’s first move had been to attack Sora after all by Sora’s own admission, try to kill him and steal his keyblade, and even though Leon and his friends seemed more helpful when Sora woke, what help were they ever really? Who knows where their loyalties lie?
Sora isn’t sure he trusts Maleficent, but he isn’t sure about the RG crew either anymore. He has Riku though. He and Riku have each other, the keyblade they share back and forth now as a symbol of their trust (though sometimes one or the other gets a little too reluctant to cede it to the other when its time, and conflict may be inevitable between competitive boys, but that’s beside the point)….and the lab beneath the castle they start spending more and more time in, combing through all the research on the heart and turning a blind eye to whatever schemes Maleficent’s other allies are getting up to elsewhere, as they finally start to put together where Kairi’s heart might be.
Oh my god. Imagine what would happen when they eventually figure out Kairi’s heart is in Sora’s. And with all that research and know-how, they also find Ven’s.
@tina-nina @maxiepdmoore-art opps xD I wrote some things xD

This room was so creepy... Vor thought to herself as she walked in, her Keyblade at her side. She did not like this room at all. All she had to do was get in, find Xehanort, and get back out. In this round room of white, encircled by tall thrones of various heights, Vor knew that she probably wouldn't have much difficulty finding--
"XEHANORT!" she cried out when her eyes fell to the last throne, the one that wasn't raised. Sitting there with his silver eyes half-lidded and dull, was the boy she had been looking for, her big brother, the one she would do anything to keep safe; Xehanort. With quick bounds, Vor jumped off the raised central circle and ran towards her friend, relief filling her.
The relief lasted but a moment however as she was suddenly knocked backwards, back up to the raised circle platform.
"Now, I do believe that is my new vessel," a familiar voice purred, as the spikey brown haired teen who had taunted her throughout the Sleeping World rose up from where he had cast the spell to knock her back. "You can look, but don't touch."
The Keyblade in Vor's hand flashed as it shifted into the long handled silver and blue hammer she had gotten used to. She held her weapon in front of her defensively, taking a few steps backwards when the boy, his golden eyes watching her with amusement, took a step towards her.
"Vessel?" She spat out, her own eyes narrowing. "Who are you? Why have you been following Xeha and I? What do you mean vessel?!"
The teen in front of her smirked and held out his hand to her in a way that reminded her too much of Hermod when he had been possessed by Ansem.
@arya-rayne
———————
“Oh how rude I’ve been, not even introducing myself properly.” The teen smiled, probably attempting to look nice and non threatening.
On any other day and to anyone else it would have worked, but to Vor it just looked jagged and cruel and she shivered. This boy (man?) had been dogging their every step, there was no way she would ever fall for that smile. His golden eyes crinkled up like he knew exactly what she was thinking and thought it was the funniest thing he had ever heard.
“My name is Sora. It’s so nice to finally meet you properly.”
Vor's eyes narrowed further, her lips twisted into a small snarl.
"You can't honestly be serious right now," she replied. "You've kidnapped my brother, chased us around the worlds, and you say 'it's nice to meet me properly'?"
Her hand tightened around her hammer.
"Well, it is only polite," the boy, Sora said with a laugh which pulled at very faint hysteria. "You're about to witness the joining of thirteen darknesses!"
Upon each of the thrones circling the room, darkness swirled around before forming into ten new figures, most hooded, but some had their hood down. Xigbar... Xemnas... Ansem... Vor's eyes met Ansem's orange. She had mixed feelings seeing him sit up there, staring back at her.
"They're... all vessels..?" Vor asked, dragging her eyes from the man who had, once upon a time, given her and Hermod decent advice around his agenda. She looked back at Sora.
"I come from a time, years ago, long before all this," the boy said, his smile shifting slightly. "My older self told me to gather those that would one day hold my heart. From all points in time, all these Soras have gathered and with Xehanort now in our grasp we can reach our thirteen!"
"Thirteen Soras...?" Vor murmured, looking around wildly. "... but... why?"
"You'd do amy thing to keep your friends safe, wouldn't you, Vor?"
I didn't reblog to wrong blog or anything...
“I don’t think my friends would forgive me if I ever did something like this.”
The only reply Vor got was a mad grin filled with grief and Nothing is too much and Anything to see them again
Vor looked away, uncomfortable.
This thought popped up in my fanfic but I have so many ideas I have decided to pass this one on... you've seen my idea for Xigbar training Roxas and Xion... But here is the thought from my fanfic, passing it to you xD
"How differently the Organisation may have ended had Xemnas taken on teaching Roxas and Xion instead of passing them onto Axel."
how dare you foist your good ideas onto me!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~People tend to forget that Xemnas is Terra’s nobody as much as Xehanort’s~
-everything was Gucci in Xigbar’s book until Xehanort actually turned them all into nobodies.
-it wasn’t sudden, but hindsight is 20/20 and all that, and the signs were there from the get-go.
-Xemnas was weird. Most of the time he was a cold emotionless version of Xehanort: calm, pragmatic, an effective if not a very good leader, and possessing a mild sadistic streak from Xigbar honestly didn’t know where.
-but every once in a while? That’s when he made sure Xemnas made himself scarce. Because he was almost nothing like Xehanort in those moments.
-He will forever wonder how it took him 10 light-forsaken years and two brats to cotton on to the fact that Terra was making himself known. In his defense, it very rarely happened in the early years, where the only brat was Zexion and Vexen guarded that boy like a mother dragon for all he had no heart.
~~~~
-Xemnas drifted, following a purpose that was his and yet felt like it wasn’t, for ten years. Then he met Roxas, the nobody of Sora, the keyblade wielder. Face so very familiar that he ached with it, yet could not place.
-Then he met Xion, puppet, replica, the creation Vexen was so very proud of (putting aside how as Nobodies they shouldn't feel anything at all), bringing to mind another face, not because of physical similarities, but mannerisms, a woman who was a girl once, whose presence he knows only from the armor he keeps safe in the Chamber of Repose.
-He looked upon these two children, with their aching familiarity, and the part of him that he knew wasn’t Xehanort by virtue of being so anathema to his Somebody's very being (this was all Terra) rose like a wave and he knew then that he wouldn't hand these two off to the Flurry of Dancing Flames
-His Somebody (somebodies) was a Keyblade Wielder once, he could teach these two how to wield their own.
~~~~~
Instead of ice cream atop clocktowers, playful shoves, and easy batter leading to stilted silence and awkward conversation, instead of eventual betrayal and heartache...
Instead, there are long nights in an office with the sound of pen scratching and paper rustling and a stream of a thousand questions answered every single time
Instead, there are days of training as two children are guided with a firm yet surprisingly gentle hand, from a man that had decades of experience buried under a faulty memory.
Instead, there are head pats and soft, warm smiles, pride glowing in golden eyes that sometimes flash blue.
Instead, one day late into the year, Xemnas goes to the Chamber of Repose and picks up Aqua’s his old friend’s keyblade, and it does not reject him.
For now, it whispers, you are sufficient.
"No Longer You" - Dragon Prince AMV
This idea has possessed me ever since I heard the song from EPIC: The Musical. MAJOR DRAGON PRINCE SEASON 6 SPOILERS. Please enjoy.
flower language has always been an intense source of disappointment for me
like, they all mean really generic things like “love” or “forever” or “i’m sorry”
i thought you could combine flowers
like you could just send someone a bouquet and from the combination of hibiscus and posies and tulips they’d understand “the rebel leader is dead, rendezvous at the docks at 8, bring the dog, you will need lighter fluid and a large tomato”
I really hope no one’s answered this for you yet, I saw this and got so excited that my obscure knowledge base might come into use. I had to stretch a few flowers so to speak but Victorian flower language allows for alteration in meaning depending on colour, fruit, flower, bud, steam, leaves and thorns, so I didn’t feel I was too far out of line. This message would work best as two bouquets bound together. First red Nasturtium with no leaves (red denotes a leader, the nasturtium a patriot) mixed with white or red Mask Flowers (rebellion, red if you want to emphasize fighting, white martyrdom) around Cypress (death). Then Chick weed (rendezvous) and Blue Convolvulus (night) surrounded by eight White Popular Leaves (symbolises the time: eight), Yellow Iris (flame, and a flower that grows by rivers) and Yellow Prarie Dock Flowers (this was closest I could find to docks)and one large Tomato Leaf, all bound in Dogwood Bark. Dogwood represents deceit, but as far as I could find the bark wasn’t used symbolically, and as you referred to the dog instead of a dog, I thought it was likely the pun should be a dead giveaway.
So there’s your rebel message!
This is amazing.
#thank you flower arranging side of tumblr
oh my gods. this is like some Lemony Snicket shit. make this a fucking VFD code. victorian floral dialogue. it totally works
I’m pretty sure that at least once if not more I have used flower language in an ebook cover. And if I had to guess off the top of my head it was almost certainly for Seanan McGuire.
Guilty.
Birds of a Feather previous / next
Somtaimes your live is weird in wey, you can't understand. Somtimes is nothing and you don't need to worry.
Or you shuld check it out.
I want more villains who care about their henchmen. I wanna see the bad guy fly into a rage because the hero hurt their very favorite bungling goon and it was nearly his birthday.
"how dare you fail me you miserable oafs!!" should be retired. "How DARE they bully my adorable oafs!!!" should be industry standard.
Underlings having to hold back their dark lord like an overprotective parent because they don't really want a famous hero to get outright murdered just on their behalf.
I had to draw something
I don’t want to go ‘realism in fiction’ bc we all know how much of a dogwhistle that can be. But it really always bothers me that this isn’t the norm. Like, how the fuck do all these dark lords and evil empresses and what not keep any minions or lieutenants or what not around?
Literally, what is stopping them from just walking to Hero and going ‘I surrender, get me the hell away from this asshole!’ when most Heros will immediately turn them in a redemption story and all.
Like, how they hell do the villains keep anyone working for them without a solid health plan, 401K, and recreational facilities? Isn’t that the minimum. Has no one actually read Machiavelli?
Indeed; one of my least favorite tropes is the whole "I don't need you anymore" bit, where a villain backstabs a fellow villain working beneath them, which inevitably ends up with the betrayed villain aiding the heroes in order to spite the big bad.
Luckily, I can just draw something that cuts that bullshit out!
