Don’t let the fact that you don’t know what you’re doing stop you from doing anything. We start everything from a place of not knowing- walking, reading, dating, working. And through the doing, we learn. We may not get it right the 1st time, but eventually we know what we’re doing.
You are loved for exactly who you are in this moment.💙
Stop waiting to care for yourself once you feel “deserving.” It’s normal to fall into slumps, and we need to give ourselves extra love and nourishment during these times. Do not wait to tend to yourself once you feel on top of the world again, do things you love when you’re not doing your best, because those are the moments you need it most.
From Jeanette Winterson's recent substack article
you deserve to become acquainted with yourself the way you would acquaint yourself with a romantic partner or close friend. you deserve to learn the peculiarities of yourself and find them endearing. you deserve to come home from a long day and pile up blankets on your bed and eat your favourite ramen flavour while watching netflix. you deserve to love yourself in the “take yourself on a date!” way but also the “i just had a panic attack” way! you deserve to comfort yourself. you deserve to know your favourite chapstick flavour and if you don’t keep trying until you find it. you deserve to try making coffee every way until you find your favourite. you deserve to know your favourite type of apple, your favourite fashion style, whether you are an early bird or night owl. you deserve to take photos until you find your favourite angle. you deserve to take uquiz after uquiz after uquiz. you deserve to tuck yourself into bed after a long day, forgive yourself for mistakes, dance alone in the kitchen to jazz music while making hot chocolate. you deserve self-knowledge and self-love in every sense of the word.
live your life now. don’t save clothes for a time you’re happier in your body, don’t put off adventures because you think your friends would be happier without you there, don’t deprive yourself of good things just because you can’t see the good in yourself
their mental health is not your responsibility. you are not their therapist, and it's not fair for them they treat you as such. it's lovely that you care and want to help but remember that it's okay to take a step back and put your own mental health first, that doesn't make you selfish. the only person who's mental health you are responsible for is your own and you are allowed to prioritize that.
it’s okay if you can’t see the positives or the silver lining in your pain. it’s important to know things will be okay whilst simultaneously reminding yourself that your feelings are incredibly valid and important. you don’t have to see the ‘good’ in your trauma or suffering. it’s enough to sit with it and not punish saying it could be “worse.”
if your body has been feeling depleted, tired or in pain for whatever reason, i wanna ask of you to be extra gentle to yourself while handling it. i know it’s common for us to feel pressured to push past our physical and mental limits, but if your body has been giving you signs that something doesn’t feel right, it’s important to listen to it and remember that it’s your home. you need & deserve to take care of it especially when it is calling for your help and attention.
“What a wonderful thought it is that some of the best days of our lives haven’t happened yet.”

There's something satisfying about turning on really loud music when you're home alone and cleaning the house. It makes me feel like I can conquer the day and anything that comes with it. It's like blooming out of your dark depression and stepping into the light (almost literally because the sunlight is out today and seeping through the glass door) and seeing life again for the first time in a while. While I realize life isn't meant to be lived in a constant productive state, sometimes it feels nice to crawl out of the pit and do something productive with your time.
Happy Friday everyone! I’m here to remind you, if you forgot, you’re loved. You’re loved. You’re so loved. I hope you enjoy your day or night, if that’s the case. Treat yourself. Bring out your inner child. Play, eat ice cream, listen to music. Do whatever makes you feel good. And take care of yourself. I love you! 💕
