chris stifled a laugh at the other’s words, “did she ever play farmville on facebook or myspace? because i imagine it’s only slightly like that.”

“trust me,” he started. “i know the feeling.” chris picked up his own glass, taking a long sip of the dark liquor before setting the near-empty thing back on the table. “there’s nothing worse than wanting to write but not coming up with the right words for it all.”

“pfft,” chris snorted a laugh. “the concern was for you,” he tacked on. “you have a point but why would rumors even circulate?? ” he asks, but before he can give simon a chance to answer he laughs. “--oh my god, i didn’t mean that people would talk about us like going out. i like you, simon, but not like that. at least, i’m pretty sure i don’t.”

Blue eyes focused in on the almost painful attempt to light the cigarette, trying to keep the expression of amusement wiped from his features. He took the lighter when it was offered, shoving it in his back pocket also. There was a delay before he responded, waiting until he was exhaling his smoke out into the soft breeze that was whirling around the rooftop. “Could say the same about you, ‘bout lookin’ familiar. You been on the telly or something?” Will asked, knowing that he’d seen this guy’s face somewhere. “I’m Will, yeah.”

“used to be,” chris answered plainly. he took another short drag from the cigarette before he continued to speak. “nice to meet ya, will. i’m chad--fuck, i meant chris. i’m chris. not chad, don’t call me chad,” he blabbed. every word seemed fast-paced and he was sure he sounded like an idiot, but what an impression he must be leaving on the guy.

a soft chuckle left his lips as he swayed to the song, “yeah, i guess it’s a little catchy.” then the chorus kicked in and he was unable to control his slightly intoxicated brain from making his mouth move with the words. “so baby, pull me closer, in the backseat of your rover, that i know you can’t afford,” he sang.

“My mom would drink them all the time, so I kind of started to drink them too.” Dani shrugged, taking another sip of her drink. Starting to hum along to the song that was playing in the bar, she set her drink down before grabbing a hold of Chris’ wrist and pulling him from seat as she stood up.

“I know there technically isn’t dance floor, but let’s dance!”

“my dad smokes cuban cigars and plays golf on weekends--we don’t have to do the things our parents do,” he commented. his tone was lilted, but even the thought of being like gary was unsettling. a moment passed and chris finished enough of his drink to begin feeling the rush to his brain, then dani’s hand pulling him toward the middle of the room.

without much contesting, chris obliged, following her step and finding the beat. “how do you even know this song?” he asked over the music.

   upon arriving at the club, simon checks his front and back pockets — and realizes that he had forgotten to bring his vip key. ❝ hey — ❞ he says, meeting their eyes with an apologetic gaze. ❝ i might have left my key at home. would you mind vouching for me as a plus one ? ❞ he asks.

standing outside the club, it wouldn’t be long before they were allowed to enter. christian looked over to simon, a soft chuckle on his lips as he teased, “of course not, but given our history, people might talk.”

Dani shrugged, taking a sip from her drink. “I’ve been drinking them since I was fourteen, kind of got used to the taste.” She said, smiling. “See, you’re keeping it basic too.” She teased lightly, leaning against the bar.

“i feel like there’s a story behind that and part of me wants to know, but another part of me doesn’t want to pry,” chris said, sort of fishing for more but willing to drop the subject if she’d rather not talk about it. the barkeep placed the short glass in front of him and he took a sip through the thin straw.

Dani sat on a bar stool, making idle conversation with the bartender as her finger traced the rim of her cup. She found herself growing more impatient the longer she waited for Chris. Fixing the neckline of her dress, she smiled as the familiar figure sat down next to her, “I’d say Bloody Mary’s are pretty basic,” Dani hummed, turning her body to look at him.

grimacing, he asked, “how can you drink those?” it wasn’t that he had anything against the drink for experience reasons, he just never cared for the taste or the name. “i’ll just have a rum and coke,” he added, more so directed to the bar tender than to dani.

the hotel bar was nothing high class, but it was just private enough that maybe this wouldn’t become some public affair. chris could see her at the bar and a cheeky smirk crept onto his lips. walking over, he sat in the seat next to hers and leaned against the bar, “drinking anything special tonight or just keeping it basic?”

Will couldn’t help but jerk his head to the source of the ridiculous amount of noise, eyebrows raising partly in amusement at how this guy seemed to make a brilliant entrance. He had to actively stop himself for giving the guy an applause as he caught his balance, and has opted for offering out the pack instead. It seemed like the nicer option of the two, and Will had definitely been that level of drunk himself so he would try and refrain from being an arse for once. He mumbled around the cigarette in his lips, “sure, one sec,” and lit his own before offering the light over. “You sure y’can manage that? Not gonna accidentally set y’self on fire or something?” he was joking, although he did feel like he needed to take some level of care over this dude given how smashed he was. Will pushed himself up off of the ground, brushing any dirt off of his arse, tucking the pack of cigarettes back in his pocket.

christian took the cigarette between his lips, holding the lighter in the other hand and trying to steady the flame. “yeah, i think so,” he mumbled through pressed lips, still trying to somehow light the damn thing and give the generous fellow his lighter back. finally, it sparked to life and he handed it over. “thanks, uh... dude. i d’nno your name but you look familiar,” he added, exhaling a puff of smoke and watching absently as it dissipated.

“I feel like it was a pretty successful night,” the dark-haired boy said to the other sitting across the Starbucks table. “I mean, I flashed the guy at the liquor store for two free T-shirts and a giant Redbull.” Danny took a sip of his iced vanilla bean coconutmilk shaken latte. “Oh, you’re welcome by the way,” he pointed out as he swallowed his sip.

chris pulled a face, leaning into the straw of his cup and taking some of the iced coffee. “i wasn’t going to thank you for a free shirt--which, by the way, two shirts and a redbull aren’t exactly bragging rights material,” he teased.

Will was up on the roof of the club that he’d come to with a bunch of his mates, all of whom had since disappeared home with whoever they’d managed to find. He was ready to go home, too, but there was something soothing about sitting up there with the fire escape door rattling in the soft breeze and the sound of the party downstairs. He rarely got these moments to himself, and he lay his head back against the brick that he was leaning on and sighed. He’d not long stamped his cigarette out before he was pulling the pack from the pocket of the jacket that lay next to him, tucking one behind his ear for easy access later and popping another between his lips. This was when he heard noise coming from the rattly doorway, and he looked up to see that he was no longer alone. “Alright?” he asked, offering the pack out to the unexpected guest, “y’want one?”

club hopping was typical of chris-- at least it had been. throughout his well documented wild years, he’d end up in headlines for stupid shit like bar fights and pubic intoxication. he thought he’d put enough of that behind him, but it seemed that lately he found himself falling back into old patterns like one longs for a toxic lover. drunk off his ass, he stumbled up the stairs to the roof of the building. he gave the door a hard shove--damn thing was unreasonably hard to open, or maybe he was just unreasonably drunk? chris, loudly, tripped outside and cursed as he barely caught his balance. a heavy sigh of relief left his lips and he took in the fresh air. that was when he looked up and realized he was intruding someone else’s solitude. “yeah, i think so,” christian answered. reaching out, he took the cigarette from the other, “thanks. you got a light?”
