Maybe The Air Gave Me The Drive || Keira & Kit
Keira was rather looking forward to Kit coming over. He had been extremely nice and complimentary to her the times they had spoken on the site, and he was also quite handsome, but best of all was that he seemed to enjoy the same things she did. She had been so ecstatic to find someone who seemed to love old classic films as much as she did. So much so that she had asked him to come over to watch some with her. She didn’t even stop to think for a second that it might be weird to invite a stranger over to her home or even the fact that he was actually a well known actor. Keira was the type of person who was up for a lot of thing, feeling that the best way to have fun was just to usually dive into things, and that was how she ended up here, getting ready to have what she hoped would be a fun night.
She had picked up a bit earlier in the day, not wanting the place to look cluttered. She wasn’t a messy person by any means, but there always seemed to be a few folders and paperwork laying around the simple two bedroom house she was renting. She quickly picked it all up and placed it in the room that she used as an office slash guest room before tidying up a bit. Once she was done she set herself to making dinner, cooking penne with chicken breast in a white sauce. She wasn’t the best cook around but as long as the recipe didn’t call for anything too complicated, then she was usually okay. Still, she found herself a little nervous, hoping that it would be good enough. She wasn’t sure why, but she found herself really wanting things to be nice for when Kit came over. Then again, it was the first time they were actually meeting and she couldn’t help but want to make a good impression.
Finishing up, she left the food on the stove to stay warm and changed her clothes before deciding to cover Ginger’s cage that sat int he corner of the living room. She loved her bird but the little girl was vocal, especially with company around, and Keira didn’t want their movie viewing to be interrupted by the constant chirping for attention from the Budgie. Just as she finished up, showing the bird a small bit of affection before draping the cover over the cage, Keira heard the bell ring and smiled as she made her way to the door. She stopped for a brief moment to look herself over in the hallway mirror, thinking she looked decent enough, before opening the door and greeting Kit who stood on the other side.
"Hi, come on in." She said brightly, noticing his hands full. "Oh here, let me help you with that." She reached to take the tiramisu from his hand, before he could protest on the matter. "Thank you again for bring this over. You really didn’t have to, but I appreciate it." She regarded him with a thankful smile before adding. "It smells great, too." She waited until he stepped inside before closing the door behind them.
"You can bring this stuff into the kitchen if you’d like. The food is done and I was just waiting to see if you wanted to set up the table or if you just wanted to eat while we watched the films, I really don’t mind either way." She said. She liked Kit and wanted to make sure he felt comfortable. It was something she was always striving for, whether it was with patients at work or with the people she made friends with.
Keira's friendly greeting, and smile set Kit at ease immediately. Being the gentleman that he is, he would have tried to stop her from taking anything off his hands, but he didn't have a choice and could only thank her for helping him. Following her into the kitchen he set the bread and wine down, and then rubbed the palms of his hands together with a slight shrug. "Honestly, I'm okay with either as well. We could eat dinner first, and then maybe watch the film while eating dessert?"
If they had time to eat a little before hand, then he figured they could talk and get to know each other a little better, and that was something he was very interested in doing. It was rare to find someone that was so easy to talk to, and who seemed to share his interests. Before she could start doing everything on her own he wanted to make sure he helped out like his parents had raised him to do.
"Do you need help setting up the table? I could help you with that if you need it. Just point me in the right direction for anything that you might want me to grab." He smiled over at her, "Dinner smells great, by the way, thank you so much for inviting me over, and for doing all of this. If we ever do this again I'll have to be the one to host."
