it bothers me when someone brings up misogyny in shounen anime and people shrug it off with "its designed for teenage boys, what can you expect." like well. idk i think its actually pretty important that shows for teenage boys are normal about women. i mean i think all media should be normal about women but teenagers are impressionable i think we could put a little bit of feminism in the teenage boy shows. it might do some good. you never know.
and this isnt just about shounen i just mean like. if you're excusing misogynistic writing with "well it wasn't written for girls" then i'm seriously questioning your approach to all this.
So a few days ago I saw an interesting little wish/idea by someone about the lanterns of dc. Right here
So that's what I'm gonna do today. Give a nice hypothetical idea for different jewelry items for each lantern corp to use as their source of tapping into their light of the emotional spectrum. Now to keep in mind with the original post I have a few rules
Rule 1 is that it's specifically jewelry items/wearable accessories like that. Otherwise indigo tribes item would have been different
Rule 2 is that we're only covering the original 7 colors before white and black.
And rule 3 is green and yellow are excluded from this list because I think it makes sense for them to be the ones to use rings since green lanterns were introduced wielding rings and sinestro used to be one so his corps would probably follow in those old footsteps. So let's begin
Red lanterns
Now they were hard to figure out for a moment. But I did think of one that could fit. An arm cuff
Now showing a pic of the Galactica bracelet is pretty intentional. Red lanterns came to be thanks to an ancient blood magic ritual done by Atrocitus but also because these bracelets actually have a similar downside to his red rings where if they're removed you die. So an arm cuff seemed like the best idea.
Orange lanterns
I also struggled for a moment to think of one but thanks to a friend they pointed me in the right direction with a coin pendant.
They brought up pirates of the Caribbean and a cursed coin used as a necklace so the coin pendant came to my mind.
It definitely fits with the usual idea of greed/avarice involving untold riches and gold piles. As well as being something so small but holding so much corruptive parasitic light.
Also there's only one true coin of greed. Every other coin is a copy the coin made. Untold riches but they don't last long like most times people's greed consumes them(cue gold piles turning to dust.) also fits because there's always only one orange lantern in canon.
Blue lanterns
These guys were hard for a different reason. Me not wanting to be disrespectful or offensive. Because these guys definitely have some ties to something religious (having brothers and sisters and a saint) I would have picked things like prayer needs or a rosary to fit with the theme but that the didn't sit right with me. But I did think of some beads. Worry beads
Worry beads was the best pick for non generic bead item that isn't related to religion and makes me feel like I'm disrespecting it by using it. At least like this.
They also are sued to help people relax and soothe their anxieties and I thought I saw something about having faith in a better tomorrow so... It was my slam dunk pick.
Indigo tribe
These guys were actually pretty easy. While I would have picked there staffs as there item(seeing how important it is to them even over there rings) the actual pick I did was a panjas bracelet
Now not only does this connect them to rings(abin sur a green lantern was the creator of the tribe) but also is a chain Jewelry piece and the indigo tribe does a lot of chain constructs or I feel like they're more known for them.
And finally the star sapphires
Once again this one was actually kinda easy. There non lantern depictions actually did all the work for me. Tiaras
Every single time the star sapphire is not a lantern corp it's using a crystal that's attached to the head in an accessory like a tiara, or a mask in the case of dcau star sapphire.

I'm definitely not demanding for people to stick to stories where they are the specific intended target audience, but a hella lot of pointless fandom wank could be avoided if they just kept in mind whether a story was meant for them in the first place.
Like - age group. There's nothing wrong with adults watching or reading stories meant for children and teens, but it IS weird when then they turn around and throw a fit that they weren't mature enough. Like how bronies complained that the lore and world-building of a show about neon-coloured ponies isn't deep and complicated enough. Or the adult audience of SU flipping that the villains weren't dispatched of with enough righteous fury.
Or tone. If you expect Clean, Wholesome Entertainment with Edifying Morals, then why do you keep watching GoT, the Murder Show About War Criminals, and its spinoffs? Find. Something. Else.
Or even background culture! No, that popular danmei is not a badly written, confusing book, it was just meant for an audience with a different background knowledge than yours. Nobody says that you, Westerner, can't still read it, but it's on you to look up the stuff you don't get, not on the author to spoonfeed it to you.
