I AM AN ABANDONED CHILD by Sarah Bokhari
I am an abandoned child a forlorn, a lost, and a scared child I am an abandoned child of the east Thrown to wells of poverty, of dirt, of oblivion by the custodians of wealth the masters of subordination
I am an abandoned child of the privileged Thrown out on streets to scavenge for food, for life, to play
I am an abandoned child for I dared to speak hunt the freedom to mark the truth to intercept the liar and besiege the wrong doer
I am an abandoned child as I was born a woman bruised, acidified and rejected My intense pain of being me has pushed me to nothingness my insuperable strength within rose to hold an insurrection, a rebellion, a revolt against the chauvinist, the powerful misogynist.
I am an abandoned child I have nothing to read to read to enlighten I am left with no integrity My ignorance is instrumental by their ignorance, indifference and neglect
When will my fathers and mothers introspect to invert for my human rights
