Ignoring his question, she patiently waited until he spilled the beans. Raising her brow, while she watched him stumble on his words, she was about to tell him to get to the point but he beat her to it. Her mouth still open from getting ready to tell him off, she slowly closed it while pursing her lips. Love was one of those words she tend to shy away from, of course not from her close family but certainly around people of her interest. Haera did date two guys and were in a “some” relationship but none of those people ever really explained what love meant. It was quite an interesting topic and wondering what lead him to ask such question and most importantly ask her.
“Um, no I haven’t… Why? Have you? Are you in love with someone? Is this person living in this house? Baby Jay if it is someone in this house I swear to keep it a secret.” Now her curiousity got the better of her, hence why she’s bombarding the male with a million and one questions but it made her wonder.
Junghwan balked at the other’s reply; she had chosen to answer his question with another question. Shaking his head furiously, he cried out, “No!” Then, side-eyeing the cameras in the room, he shook his head once more before repeating himself more softly. “No, that’s really not why I asked.” He sighed before gnawing on his lower lip. “I was honestly just curious, because I’ve never even been in a relationship -- I mean.” Realizing the implications behind what he had just said, his eyes widened as he shook his head furiously once more. “I mean, like, I’ve never been that deeply invested in someone before. I-I guess. I was just wondering what it’s like.” He groaned before covering his face with his hands. “Sorry to bother you about this, but thanks for trying to answer anyway.” He chuckled softly before turning to his side to stick his tongue out at the older girl. “Do you at least have relationship experience, noona?”

Side-eyeing the male, she slowly nodded her head. “Yeah they officially cameback yesterday but they’re on the program today.” She happily boasted. But her happy vibe was slowly gone when the awkward tension filled again. There was something going on with Junghwan and it bothered her. The way he said noona gave it away, even a foreigner or an american-born Korean wouldn’t have much trouble with the word but the way he just said it was, cautious.
Her face was deadpan. Haera didn’t take people who beat around the bush seriously, if you came to someone to talk to them, tell them what you want to say don’t make it difficult for yourself and the other person. Just the thought alone made her head hurt. Heaving a sigh, she closed her eyes momentarily before turning to fully face Jay. “Just tell me, I won’t laugh.”
“That’s awesome. How’d they do?” Junghwan finally turned to look at the older female, but her expression gave him pause. “Sorry,” he murmured in English before clearing his throat. “It’s just, well, it’s kind of embarrassing to ask this. And even if you did tell me to call you ‘noona,’ I don’t know if we’re close enough to warrant me prying into your private life. But it was just... Uh...” His voice trailed off as he gulped. A frown on his face, he squeezed his eyes shut before quietly admitting his question. “Have you ever been in love before?”

cullen didn’t want to go camping but he found that he couldn’t work his way out of it. he had never been camping before and didn’t know much about it but he did know that forests got dark at night. that was something he wasn’t looking forward too. he was making his way to his assigned campsite with hopes that his tent partner - jay- had already had the tent up. cullen tucked his chin into the collar of his sweater and tightly held onto his (yet to be turned on) flashlight in one hand and the strap of his backpack in the other.
when he arrived at the spot he found that the tent wasn’t up yet, a small pout forming on his face. he wasn’t sure what he’d do if he didn’t have somewhere to go once it was actually dark out. in truth it was already too dark for his liking but he didn’t want to waste the batteries on any of the light producing equipment that he had brought (and he may have brought more than he actually necessary). “sorry i’m late.” cullen said looking at the other unsure if he should put his backpack down and attempt to help or not. as the sky got darker the air got colder and that was something cullen had forgotten - that it might get chilly being outside in the dark at night.
Junghwan jumped at the sudden voice, and his eyes widened when he looked up and realized who it belonged to. “Oh, Cullen, i-It’s you,” he sputtered. Well, at least he kind of knew his tentmate. That was a step in the right direction. Smiling what he hoped was an amiable smile (and not one that was showcasing his current anxiety), he waved a hand. “No, you’re fine. It’s no big deal. I’m just sorry I haven’t finished setting up this tent already. You know, considering how the sky’s already quite dark.” He frowned as he waved the manual in his hand in front of his own face. “But it’s okay, I think it’ll be fully set up soon. You can just relax for a bit, if you want. It shouldn’t take more than, uh, ten minutes. I think.” He shook his head as he readjusted one of the tent poles. “I mean, I know it. It really won’t take longer than ten.” He puffed out his chest in an attempt to sound braver than he felt. Maybe if he acted like he knew what he was doing, it would dissuade Cullen from trying to offer his assistance in other ways... Like, attempting to start a fire for the two of them or something.
@fckeunji
His tentmate had run off somewhere after they had managed to set up their tent together, so Junghwan was left to his own devices. Said devices were a flashlight that he forgot to replace the batteries of and a cellphone that had minimal signal up here -- wherever they were for this camping trip. He never considered himself a boy afraid of the dark, but it was hard to not be a little uneasy when there were little, unidentifiable sounds every couple seconds. Gulping, he decided to try and find Cullen.
His dying flashlight eventually gave out several minutes into his hunt for the other male, and he quietly whined, “Not now,” as everything went black. Thankfully, shortly after, he spotted a light heading his way. Only, it wasn’t Cullen’s light but another’s. “E-Eunji?” His questioning remark came out as a stammer; he was so surprised to see the female. “I mean, oh, Eunji. Hey, what’s cooking, good-looking?” He laughed before pounding a fist against his chest and holding out a peace sign.

Jaegar shrugged, he wasn’t sure if he did miss California. He missed the people there, but the atmosphere was unbearable. “Not really, at all.” He gave the other another shrug of his shoulders. “Do you?- Miss it I mean.”
Jaegar let out a laugh as he heard Junghwan’s voice pitch up as he spoke, “Are you sure you’re calm? I think I’d have to beg to differ.” He raised an eyebrow, crossing an arm over the other. “Well, now you can say someone’s called you cute. Though - take it with a grain of salt, yeah? I wouldn’t want you to go around thinking I think you’re great or something. You’re just okay.” He teased, “This bromance? I wasn’t aware we were in a bromance, or that you thought I was cute.”

Junghwan eyed the other carefully, slightly taken aback by the other’s response. A part of him wondered what memories the other male had of the place to make him reply in such a way, but a bigger part of him knew it wasn’t his place to ask. Instead, he shrugged his shoulders in mimicry of the other’s before smiling awkwardly. “Yes and no.” It probably sounded stupidly vague, but it was the truth. He missed Californian weather; he missed the burgers from In-N-Out; he missed sharing a roof with his father instead of a multitude of strangers; he missed not having to wake up with the knowledge that cameras were watching almost his every move; he missed being able to be himself. What he didn’t miss was the loneliness and the silences; what he didn’t miss was the judgmental looks he got for skipping so many grades or the awkward silences after his father would always, always ask about whether or not he’d made any friends at school or university.
“Don’t laugh at me,” Junghwan huffed, opening his eyes before crossing his arms over his chest. “Okay, how about this, I’m calm now. Is that better?” As if to prove himself, he dramatically inhaled and exhaled a few times before flashing the other a thumbs up. His previously pink face paled just as quickly as it had originally flushed at the other’s words. “Just okay? Wow, rude, this okay guy feels like he has something to prove now.” With that said, he stuck out his tongue before cracking his knuckles. “Don’t make me talk in binary to you. Or, ooh, better yet -- hexadecimal. Ladies and gents alike love hexadecimal, right?” His face flushed once more when the other pointed out that there was more depth to his retort. “C-Cute, w-well, I mean...” His stammering trailed off as his eyes narrowed. “I mean, you’re cuter than me. That’s it, man. And did you not want to be in a bromance with me then? I thought we had agreed to be bros though. I’m hurt.” With that said, a look of mock affront crossed his face.
chamiyeon
At his words, her eyes grew wide. Miyeon continued to stare at the man alarmingly as he’d jokingly pretended to slice his own neck. “You shouldn’t admit to that sort of thing on national television Junghwan– you’re blowing your own cover!” She whispered out through rapid words; the sentence was almost inaudible. Shaking her head, Miyeon went on to shrug her shoulders at the other’s whine. “I think it’s a nice nickname– long, but nice, regardless.”
Before she could think up another response, Miyeon watched as the man pulled out his phone from his pocket. Mentally, she’d accused the man of cheating, using his internet app to look up new pickup lines to use. Just as she’d opened her mouth to voice her thoughts, he’d turned his phone around to face the girl. Now looking at herself, Miyeon stared dumbly at the image on the phone. “Aren’t I supposed to be looking at a picture, not the opened camera app on your phone?” Shaking her head, she now averted her gaze at the man who stood behind the mobile device. “Now you’re just getting lazy.”
“Or maybe this is just another cover for another side of me,” Junghwan commented before shrugging his shoulders. “I could be, I don’t know, a detective or something. Pretending to be a serial killer pretending to be a casanova.” In an effort to add emphasis to his words, he made sure to wink and click his tongue after he finished saying his sentence. “Look, you’re great and all, Miyeon...” His voice trailed off as he lifted his arms so that his chin was now resting in his palms instead. “But that nickname? Not great. Why not give me a cooler nickname, huh? One that lives up to, you know, my actual coolness level.”
Junghwan slapped a hand over his face before sighing. “No, no, that was the point. That you see yourself when I hand over my phone. Because it’d show how you’re the most beautiful woman in the world.” He felt a blush dusting his cheeks as he removed his hand to stare at the girl in front of him. With a look of exasperation, he sighed once more before staring at the table instead. “Maybe that’s my cue to stop using lines on you,” he murmured before looking up with a glint in his eyes. “And to start using lines on others. Hey, what do you say to being my wingwoman or something? Think you could handle it?”

When Quin got a response from Jay he stood up, sending some quick texts in response to let the other male know that he’d be there in a minute. He took a moment to consider if he should bring anything. In the end he decided all he needed was his phone. He walked down the stairs heading towards room 18 where Jay said to meet him. Quin had only been to the bedrooms in the basement a handful of times and that had only been when his room had been located there.
When he reached the door of the appropriate room he knocked on the door lightly. He could hear a few notes of something through the door. He couldn’t quite tell what it was because the sound was muffled by the closed door. He wondered briefly if he’d interrupted Jay in the middle of something. Or it could be one of Jay’s roommates but Quin doubted that Jay would have invited him there if someone else was in the midst of something.
At the sound of knocking against his door, Junghwan immediately leaped out of his seat and bounded over to the door. Opening it with a flourish, he bowed before gesturing towards his keyboard. “So, that’s my baby,” he introduced with a wide grin. He rocked on the balls of his feet for a little while until he realized there was only one seat in front of it. “Oh, wait, let me pull up a chair...” His voice trailed off as he moved his desk chair over so that there were now two seats before the keyboard. Then, he returned to his previous position in order to pat the seat next to him. “Sit next to me, hyung, and let me blow your mind with my cover. It’s pretty good, in my opinion. Second only to the original, of course.” He winked in the older male’s direction before stretching his hands above his head. He hoped Quin hadn’t noticed the way his fingers had shaken at his own declaration, because -- in all honesty -- he was actually quite nervous. He’d never performed in front of anyone before, much less one of the artists’ he had created covers for.

“this isn’t like that.” seokju wish he was in a dating scandal instead of this (even if the only one he wanted to actually date was kevin and he knew that was never going to happen). “this is career ruining big.” what career? he thought - even if he talked big seokju was still just a nobody rookie and it was probably going to stay that way. if it didn’t this was always going to follow him (and follow hyde even if he was permanently pulled from the line up). when the other spoke about having the last laugh, it felt like this guy had just listened in on seokju’s thoughts and had spit his usual way of thinking out back at him. he was a strong believer in the fake it until you make it mentality and seokju thought he had done just that. but now he felt like he was just pushed straight back into square one and to say he was discouraged was an understatement. “i never said i wasn’t confident.” seokju was over confident most of the time and that was what made this worse. he was too confident and that was why he messed up. “i just royally fucked up and ruined my group’s debut stage.” he surprised himself by the lack of emotion in his voice - he knew that the word’s he was being told were meant to be reassuring but seokju had already resigned to being a lost cause. he glanced over at the other, “i’m seokju by the way.”
Junghwan retracted his hand from the other’s back before rubbing the back of his own neck. “What is it like then? What is ‘career ruining big’?” He may not have known much about the other’s life as a newly debuted idol, but he doubted whatever had happened could be bad enough to ruin a rookie’s career. Then again, he wasn’t an idol himself or anything even close to it, so what did he know about the industry anyway.
It was then that the other deadpanned, “I never said I wasn’t confident. I just royally fucked up and ruined my group’s debut stage.”
“Oh, so that’s what you meant by ‘career ruining big’...” His voice trailed off as his brows furrowed. “Honestly, what did you do? Mess up a move? I bet you’re just overreacting. Things couldn’t have been that bad. Just use that apparent confidence of yours to blow everyone’s opinions out of the water next time.” He blinked blankly when the other suddenly and finally made eye contact with him. “Oh, I’d say it’s a pleasure to meet you, but these are unfortunate circumstances. Still, I’m Jay, by the way. Or Junghwan, if you prefer...” His voice trailed off as he awkwardly extended a hand in greeting.

jasper nodded, as he had hoped he was older. “almost twenty.” he replied, “meaning i am older than you. and you should probably show some more respect.” in reality, the age gap was so small that jasper didn’t care about it at all. but he couldn’t let junghwan know that, that would show mercy. and that was something jasper didn’t have, he was relentless. or at least that was what he liked to tell himself. “an idol?” he laughed, shaking his head. “i don’t need to rely on visuals and distorted tone to get people to pay attention to me.” he harshly commented, crossing his arms. “i’m japan’s foreign love, jasper son. japaneseyoutuber, born in australia, adopted by japan.” he spoke proudly. though really, jasper didn’t see himself as a big deal, he had to at least pretend he thought that. “you’re a kid to me.” he shrugged, slightly shocked that he had complied and gotten him water. he almost felt bad that he had bossed junghwan around, he did seem like an okay guy..
“Not by much, hyung,” Junghwan replied, tacking on the honorific after a slight pause. He was a little offended on the way the other male described idols though. He may not have been an idol himself, but he was a fan of quite a few idols; hell, they were living under the same roof as a whole bunch of them. “You shouldn’t say such a generalization about idols,” he commented, returning with Jasper’s requested glass of water before rolling his eyes at the other’s next words. “If you’re so big, why haven’t I heard of you, Mr.Japan’s-Foreign-Love?” He wasn’t one who shied away from watching YouTube videos, especially since he was kind of a YouTuber himself. Still, he really hadn’t seen any of the other’s videos before; he wasn’t just saying it in an effort to stay in character. Maybe it was because he only watched Korean music videos and other people’s piano performances...
“Well, even if you’re older than me, you’re basically a kid to me too. Hyung.” Again, he tacked on the honorific after some hesitation. He ran a hand through his hair before pointing the thumb of his other hand at his own chest. “I mean, I bet you don’t have a real job, right? And here I am, contracted to work at Google’s headquarters next year. I’d argue I’m more of an adult than you are, Mr.Japanese-YouTuber.” He winced at his own words (because what was a “real” job anyway), but he hoped the other male wouldn’t notice; that would count as a sign of weakness, and that was not allowed -- not by Barney Stinson standards, anyway.
@racullenn
When the announcement of the Roommate Halloween event had first been announced, Junghwan was pretty sure every single cell in his body had stopped working for -- at least -- a solid second. For (1) he had never gone camping in his life, and (2) camping meant campfires, and only the Lord above knew at this point how much he did not want to be within 50 feet of flames of any sort. His only hope was that whoever he was assigned to share a tent with would decide campfires were either super lame or super unnecessary, maybe even both.
Thus, here he was, attempting to put together the tent he was supposed to live in for the next week with a slight frown on his face. The frown on his face was only a slight one indeed, because he still didn’t know who his partner was, and he was still holding out hope that his partner was going to turn out to be someone against campfires. “The sun’s almost completely set too,” he murmured under his breath as he looked up once to stare at the darkening, multi-colored sky before returning his attention to the manual in his left hand.

Quin actually meant to text Jay earlier. He hadn’t had much to do lately, but the developments with his situation with Sébastien had distracted him. Quin may have gotten a little caught up in the novelty of it. Which was surprising to him, Quin never got ‘caught up’ in anything. At the moment he had nothing to do except maybe write but Quin didn’t know what he would write, he’d finished the songs he’d had to write earlier in the week and he didn’t feel particularly ready to start any new projects. So he figured now was as good a time as any to see if the younger male was free. If he wasn’t Quin would just have to re-think some of his plans, he didn’t want to get in the way of any pre-existing plans Jay may or may not have made.
[text: jay] are you free? [text: jay] because if you are I’d love to hear you play [text: jay] unless my invite has expired already
Junghwan jumped when his cellphone vibrated on his desk, fingers accidentally deleting a line of code as a consequence of his shock. He muttered a curse as he retyped the line of code, and then he picked up his phone to see who had texted him. It was Quin, and surprise didn’t even begin to cover the emotion that came over him at the sight of the older male’s name.
[ text: quin-hyung ] of course it hasn’t expired! [ text: quin-hyung ] where are you? if you’re in the house, just come down to room 18. [ text: quin-hyung ] that’s where i am. ヾ(。・ω・)シ
After taking a deep breath, he set his phone back down before saving his files. Then, he shut down his laptop and sat down on the chair before his keyboard. He practiced a few arpeggios before beginning to play a few notes of, “Ocean of Light.” He had to make sure he still remembered the version he had composed, after all. It wasn’t every day that he was given the chance to perform for one of his favorite idols. He had to make sure everything was perfect (or, at least, close to).
jasper raised an eyebrow in response to this junghwan’s greeting. “yah - how old are you?” he questioned, making an effort of standing up slightly taller. he assumed he was older than the other, he hoped he was. he in no way, shape, or form wanted to be disrespectful. he did like seeming confident and content with how he was, but disrespect was something jasper tried to stay clear for. “i’m one of the only roommates you’ll need to pay attention to, get me some water will you, kid?”
Junghwan shrinked away slightly before catching himself. He then made a show of standing up as tall as he could, chest puffed out and eyes widening every second in an effort to stay unblinking. They were practically eye level with each other, and it made him breathe a soft sigh of relief when he realized that he wasn’t much shorter than the other male. “I’m an early ‘96-liner. What about you?” He settled back down into a more solid standing position before crossing his arms across his chest. “One of the only roommates I’ll need to -- wow, those are big words considering we live in a house that’s full of celebrities. Are you an idol yourself?” He didn’t think so, because he didn’t recognize the other’s face. Still, he had to ask. “And wow, I’m not a kid. Excuse you,” he grumbled, uncrossing his arms. Despite his grumbling, he ended up walking towards the kitchen regardless. After all, he still believed that the other male was probably either his age or older, and he’d rather be safe than sorry. He made sure to pause at the kitchen’s entrance, however, to make sure no one was using any of the stoves. When he was sure the coast was clear, he walked in to pour Jasper a glass of water after releasing a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding.
