What is religious based anti-Trans violence? Religious based anti-Trans violence is legislating against Trans bodies with white supremacist theologies, it is clergy demanding a young person be kicked out of their home because they are Trans, it is forcing Trans people into “corrective” therapy, it is US Evangelists traveling around the world to push anti-Trans laws and policies internationally, it is the person on the street attacking a Black Trans woman/femme using the same dehumanizing tactics they learned from the pulpit, it is trying to beat the boy or the girl out of a gender non-conforming child, it is part of a culture of the ongoing belittling and minimizing of Trans folks through a lens that says, not even our God(s) would claim you. Anti-Trans Religious based violence is in every US state, in every country around the world and impacts Trans people regardless of whether we ourselves identify as religious. We, myself and @ladydanefe, as co-editors of @theblacktransprayerbook , are asking folks of all identities and religious/non-religious ideologies to spend today calling out Anti-Trans Religious and/or spiritual violence that we know disproportionately impacts Black & Brown Trans folks. : Swipe for instructions on how to participate in a digital action led by Black Trans folks invested in the survival of Black & Brown Trans people globally. : How do I participate? 1. My homie and Trauma Expert, @Jimanekia, is hosting and curating a healing retreat for April 2020 (Sexual Assault Awareness Month). Specifically for survivors of assault who identify as femmes of color, Tending the Garden makes a space for those of us who are system impacted and so often left out of the conversation. This is important and necessary work!
