;; Faded like a memory. Found materials, combined. 2016
;; Maybe I will post a little more often here, because I am unsure of this direction, so it doesn’t quite feel ready for my website.
;; Cross stitched patch for a friend. Backed on felt, meant for a denim jacket. Text is a running inside joke. Custom design, etc.
;; Assorted collection of self-enclosed letter/envelopes. Made from found handmade paper and white/cream paper made by myself, from cotton linter and/or bedsheets. Set up so you can write the address on one side, letter on inside and fold to close. Inspired by other self-contained envelopes out there, but I wanted a way to use this handmade paper where myself AND others would enjoy, especially friends of mine that generally wouldn’t buy this kind of paper for themselves.
;; Assorted stationary in a purple/maroon colour. [Maroon Starry Night paper from St. Armand’s]
Top four are postcards, front and back. Next few are a type of folding clover envelope, as shown folded and unfolded and with different inside writing spaces. The final two are self-contained letter/envelopes, that fold into themselves. Inside white paper is assorted handmade, made by me or they were a found object.
;; the last of the 2015 christmas postcards, finally!
Water colour/ink/pens/etc.
Happy Holidays, everyone.
;; Christmas postcard for our Slack [the communication platform] group. Did it in a variety of colours, since I had the paper and there was 20+ cards to send.
Lino carving, printed on St. Armand Handmade Paper.
;; Set of Five Cards, for my set of five friends.
Paper made by St. Armands, hand-marbled and drawn on by me. Envelopes handmade in India, bought in Vancouver.
;; Working on a series of scanner-manipulated photobooth photos. Leaning towards an eerie feel/supernatural. Self-portrait, same strip.
Class of 2015 :)
Hello!
I don’t know why I never posted an official thing here. However, I officially graduated in May of 2015, with a BFA in Studio Arts. I have a website now [www.tessgobeil.com] but am keeping this tumblr alive to continue posting in-progress works, things that are still unfinished or not fully fleshed out.
;; Gift for a friend, to congratulate on starting a new job.
“You got this” is the phrase we always use, easily our most exchanged phrase between the two of us. 2″ x 2.5″, cross stitched with embroidered text.
;; Two very-belated watercolour postcards today, better late than never, aha.
;; This might be the last remaining project of my undergrad to be uploaded onto my tumblr. This was my final bookbinding project, an unbound book of haikus, about pork, printed on slices of pork [sort of like a watermark], and each slice was individually vacuum sealed. Each poem was crowdsourced from a friend or family member. Here is the full album, with accompanying text, so you can read each one. http://imgur.com/a/DLrGx
;; Spent nearly five weeks traveling, playing around on the Coast, running around the country. Saw some amazing things and finally got the film developed. There are some more on my Flickr [oinkment], but here’s a sampling.
;; "Loose ends no longer loose" A sister project to the book project I did, based on beds, mental health and journaling. This piece is made from the final scraps of my pillowcase, the elastic on our bedsheet and recycled black pulp. The weight of the ball is actually quite heavy.
;; Little handdrawn/coptic sewn zine about things ending or changing, impending graduation thoughts and the “list of lasts” that runs through your head.
;; Doodles and such on the topic of anxiety/fears, made between working on final projects/take home exams/etc. Just keeping busy. First one is letterpress/collage, second is a watercolour postcard.
