Sun thinks the truth is that Jay will end up dead, and his instinct is to try to prevent it. Which is in general his attitude when someone he cares about is at risk in some way. However, Jay isn't interested in getting help from Sun
This is not the way a partner would communicate in an egalitarian relationship. Jay raises his hand in a silencing gesture. He doesn't turn around and offer reassurance and gratitude for Sun's concern while telling him he shouldn't worry. He doesn't accept it. He doesn't get defensive and angry at the offer. He doesn't push Sun away. He indicates with nothing but a hand gesture that Sun is to be quiet, and gives him an order. Before saying
Which is itself a form of reassurance. Jay is being commanding and certain of himself. He's speaking with complete confidence and a cold, deadly focus. And Sun's reaction to this is very telling
He still looks worried, but he says nothing. He obeys Jay's unspoken command of silence. He offers no argument or protestation. This is very different from how he reacted to Sunny/Bank when Bank was having money problems. Yes, Bank was communicating his problem in a manipulative fashion, clearly trying to get Sun to offer help, but my impression of Sun is that he would have insisted upon helping even if Bank hadn't been trying to subtly get the money. Sun is always taking it upon himself to fix other people's problems. But Jay isn't someone he does this with. He has faith that Jay can take care of himself, because of how completely he has taken Sun in hand and taken care of him.
Because Sun doesn't disobey. He takes no action that is directly focused on Jay. Instead, he goes after the evil wealthy backer only when Sky is targeted by him. Sun can't get ahold of Jay, and there's no way he's going to let anything happen to sweet, innocent Sky who so reminds him of his brother. Taking care of Sky is, in fact, a way of taking care of himself. It would destroy him if Sky was harmed when he could have done something to prevent it. True, I think he was also hoping that it would help Jay as well, but he doesn't start making moves until Sky is targeted.

Jay is still giving him homework, despite the fact that they're together(it's unstated, but Sun has followed him home and slept next to him in pajamas that are exactly his size, and is clearly used to Jay's presence enough that he instinctively reaches out to him as soon as he wakes up, so I think the implication is clear enough). Jay isn't making a suggestion of what would be a good idea for Sun to do. He's simply giving him an order and stating what will happen after the order is followed, which Jay doesn't seem like he has any doubt will happen. True, Sun doesn't agree, but he also never verbally agrees despite completing every assignment Jay has ever given him. The proof is in the pudding, so to speak. Sun either doesn't feel the need to say he will, or can't quite bring himself to be that compliant, regardless of the fact that he ultimately does as he's told. Plus, he's taciturn as a general rule, only speaking when necessary. And it isn't necessary to tell Jay that he'll follow an order that they both already know he will.
