Today’s google-img-search-warm-up studies started out as nice sweet irish dancing… then quickly went full MMA
Nice sweet Irish dancing 😂😂
Things I love about awards photos:
You see a beautiful dancer, in a beautiful costume, all put together, with their award. The final product. The accomplishment.
Things I don’t like about awards photos:
You don’t see the time and sacrifice put into dancing to get the award. The pain, blood, sweat, and tears. The parties missed, the time spent practicing when you should be doing homework. The teasing we get at school and the misunderstanding of our beloved sport. The money spent on travel and lessons and dresses. Getting up ridiculously early on dance day, the 15 hours in a wig, dancing and awards late at night, the emotional and physical exhaustion of competition, and dance in general.
And then you show someone outside the dance world a picture of a world champion, and all they see is the dancer in the pretty costume holding a trophy, and they dare compare it to pageants, or tell us it isn’t a sport. But they have no idea what it took to get there, or how much it means to us.

Jesus Camp is a very fun documentary to watch with friends but if you watch it alone you just get scared and angry.
oireachtas (noun)
1. The official legislature of Ireland, formally referred to as Oíreachtas Éireann. 2. The best time of year, when dancers can not only compete against each other, but make truly lifelong friendships, accomplish their dreams, explore a huge city, giggle side stage with their friends, reunite with dancers they only see 1-3 times a year, go to the Ball with their gorgeous date, have sleepovers in other kids' hotel rooms, meet famous dancers, go to the most high-class award ceremony they'll ever have the opportunity of attending, dance in front of hundreds, and maybe even get onstage to accept an award with cameras flashing & the audience cheering your name like you always wished they would. 2 (continued). A dream come true.

Tell us about how you heard you were going to be playing lead please?! What's the process do the casting directors just watch you performing and choose who they would like or do you have to audition again?? :)
Beware, this is a long one!!
When I first joined at the beginning of the year, several of us were spoken to and asked start looking at a lead role. When we began the dominion run we had practice every week where the dance captains and current leads would come in and help us, and every now and again Michael or Marie would pop in and want to have a look.
In April, we got told Marie was going to come in to watch all the training leads perform in costume, but unfortunately a few days before that I tore part of my quad. I told my dance captain of my injury but also said that I wanted to just keep dancing until I had the chance to show Marie my lead, as we all had been working incredibly hard. The day came and we all got ready in full costume to show Marie what we had been working on, and it was incredible and inspiring to see how far Fergal, Kevinah, Aiobheann, and Nialll had come. It finally came to my turn to perform for Marie and upon finishing she pulled me out into the audience to speak to me. She said she immediately knew I was injured because I wasnt dancing to the best of my ability and she didn’t want me to dance another step till I felt healthy. I was bitterly disappointed but knew that I needed to look after myself and get better. A week later, I returned back to dancing in the show, and then two weeks after that I got permission to go back to lead training. The very first jump I did I heard tear and then I was out for another week and following that a few weeks of strengthening.
It came to the end of May and I got pulled into the office and told I was being transferred to the other troupe so I could do my hometown. It had always been a dream of mine to perform in my home town and I was so incredibly excited. Two days before I left Michael came in to work and wanted to see alot of the girls perform a lead role. He spent a lot of time with each one of us telling us what we needed to improve on and helping us to become better.
I then began in South Africa with 2 weeks of shows with Michael. One day we came into work at 4pm and we were told to go up to the dressing room as Michael was working on stage with some of the male leads. About 10 minutes later my dance captain Tom came and grabbed me from the dressing room and took me down to wardrobe saying that Michael wanted to have a look at me doing my bad girl routine in costume. My heart literally exploded as I nervously awaited side stage before Michael called me on. I remember shaking so much I could barely stand as I went up the trap. All of a sudden I was dancing away and before I even had a chance to grasp what was going on I was finished. Michael then shared some words of wisdom and spent time with me changing parts of my routine, perfecting moves and working on my performance. My routine is a lot different to any other bad girls so he said he wanted to take a different approach with me so he sent me off with Nikita and Fiona to do my hair and makeup with a punk feel. We then came back and I performed my routine one more time.
Come this time it was about 615 and our show was at 8pm. I finished my routine and Michael turned to me and said ‘wow, what a performance that was. I hope you know the whole show, because your performing lead tonight.’ I laughed a little and then went off stage. I honestly thought he was joking until tom was like lets get going we have a lot of work to do.
The next 2 hours were so manic, as we ran through everything, but I was so filled with excitement I didn’t care. The feeling of going up the trap and then performing was indescribable, and dancing alongside Michael was a dream come true. It was all over so quickly but I would do that day 10000 times over if I could. I am so incredibly grateful and thankful for the experiences I have encountered and the inspiring people around me that always encourage me to grow and push me to be better.
Never missed a competition, but if so you’d call 5 times.
Traveling to Great Britain on the plane right by my side.
Always zipped my dress and taped my shoes if mom couldn’t be there.
There was nothing that you couldn’t do, except, maybe, my hair.
Ironic because everybody knew your luscious locks,
Holding up my friends and me as if the glue to our socks.
Never asked me how I thought I did but rather if I had fun,
No one had ever been as proud of me when the dancing was all done.
No matter my rotation I am always dancing with you,
although not standing in the crowd you have the perfect view. ___________________________________
