I think the shadowhunters tv show permanently damaged peoples perception of the lightwood siblings bc everyone seems to think alec is this emo insecure boy with hot confident siblings when in reality jace spends 6 books going "what if i'm irredeemable and evil i need to kill myself 1000 times" and isabelle is desperately trying to cover up the damage her fathers infidelity did to her perception of love and relationships with a male manipulator persona meanwhile alec is just like "ok so obviously you people need help but my rich hot boyfriend is flying me to france so i dont have time to worry about all that rn. bye 👋"

tsc has always been the series for me, BUT if there’s fr 1 thing i could change about it is the lack of YOUNG FULLY black girls whose storyline isn’t about the prejudice we face in different contexts. yes i know i shouldn’t be expecting/looking for that from a white author, but sometimes you just wanna see yourself in your favorite media. and no shade to Maia, but black girls in media should not all be mixed.

one random comment I have about the cover & kitty endpages is a couple weeks ago I saw a TikTok video discussing the sexism embedded in the weapons given to women in (usually) fantasy books. Like they often have bows or throwing knives, some sort of long range weapon, that keeps them separate from the action & they’re usually not in any close combat action etc. if author’s are feeling generous they get a dagger for emergencies. and it was so interesting to me because it’s absolutely true but my own view is so heavily influenced by tsc I would never have picked up on it. Like at least at the end of the day Cassandra Clare is still giving all her female characters swords and lowkey only them. the men get the bows and throwing knives lmao

i’ve filtered out tags for tsc neg/anti, and yet my fyp is still getting flooded with people shitting on it. and its consistently from the same people, too. and, and its always with either some of the dumbest reasons or no reason at all, which seriously pisses me off.

like if u hate tsc and that much just drop it. and even if u want to continue reading, please, please just tag properly. im not saying u cant share ur opinion but, again, at least let ppl who dont want to see that filter it out. its so easy. add on tsc neg or anti tsc, and boom. done.

tsc is one of my favourite comfort series(es) so it really sucks to see all that hate towards it.

one of my favourite things about post-QOAAD content is all the little things that remind you the universe is righting itself. chiefly among these is Julian being Mark's little brother aka ANNOYING. it's so precious to me that one of the biggest indicators that both Mark and Julian are alright now is that Julian keeps giving Mark things like shirts that say PARTY NAKED and addressing letters to Polyamorous Cottage
