Okay, Rico deserves so much more content! He had such an incredible voice and design. But let’s get into this hopefully good bout of headcanons!
* Rico has such a hard time opening up to you and accepting that he is allowed to be open and show people his true feelings. Rico really does want to open up to you, honest! He just… struggles with it! So much of your relationship with Rico was teaching him how to be vulnerable. He thanks you internally every day.
* Rico isn’t the best man or partner. He knows this, he’s dangerous, has connections with worse men, and does work for worse men. Sometimes he will take a mission that haunts him, you can see it in his eyes when he gets back. He dreams of those missions and it makes him kick in scream in his sleep. He’s very hard to calm down on days like that and you should avoid him
* Rico giving loving language is gift gifting and acts of service. He somehow always knows what gifts you have been wanting, what you don’t know is he notes all the little things about you, and he notices when you’re with him. If you look at a shirt for a second too long he will remember. He is also very good at acts of service. He just loves the look on your face when you see that he’s done something so small for you but it makes you so happy. Plus it’s one of the love languages that keeps him in his comfort zone.
* I think Rico loves all forms of love. He wished so long to have someone who loves him truly, so any little bit you give him after breaking his shell is eaten up, he loves being loved after he learns what it’s like. You were cuddling him one night and began petting his hair, that was the day where he discovered his love for head scratches. You can’t escape the monster you created… have fun.
* On a sadder note, if you were to ever break up with him for reasons other than his work or your safety he’d just stop believing in love. How could he be the happiest man in the world and be so in love with you and you just… leave? His heart wouldn’t be able to handle it and he’d relegate himself to one-night stands only.
* Rico wants to build a life with you, maybe get some farmland, and have a kid or two. He doesn’t care just as long as he spends the rest of his life in your arms. The arms that hold him warm during winter, the person who retaught having feelings to him, the person who he loves more than anything. He’s happy as long as he spends his life with you.
* I headcanon Rico just loves dogs, if you have a dog it’s not your best friend anymore it's his. Rico goes on runs all the time with your little fur baby and he loves playing with them. You will find the dog with Rico on the couch all the time napping, cuddling, or playing. It’s adorable.
* If you have a cat for some reason it just loves him. He doesn’t understand it but you think it’s so cute. The cat follows him all around the home. Rico claims he hates the cat, you’d never tell Rico but you’ve caught him cuddling with the kitty and slipping it extra treats all the time.
* All in all, once you break past his hard shell he’s so sweet and cute. He loves so fiercely and he’s so sweet.
