Last light over Saint Peter’s Basilica
Rome 10.2024
I love the unintentionally hilarious moment in Pride and Prejudice when Mr Darcy actually includes an apology in the letter he writes to Elizabeth (written immediately after insulting her, at length, to her face, mind you):
'These causes must be stated, though briefly. The situation of your mother’s family, though objectionable, was nothing in comparison to that total want of propriety so frequently, so almost uniformly betrayed by herself, by your three younger sisters, and occasionally even by your father. Pardon me. It pains me to offend you.'
Pretty sure that ship already sailed, Fitzwilliam.

"haymitch and peeta weren't even that close"
haymitch and peeta were willing to volunteer and take each other's place in the second quarter quell that would probably lead to their death AND they didn't even have to think about it.
FRIENDS 5.09 The One With Ross's Sandwich
Look! Better media analysis than the entire recent "adaptation"
Asterid March, who falls in love with a Seam boy at the age of 16.
Asterid March, who watches her best friend die in Haymitch's arms.
Asterid Everdeen, who moves down to the Seam because who needs money when they have love? Asterid Everdeen, who loses both of her parents at an unknown point. Asterid Everdeen, whose first baby is the spitting image of Burdock.
Asterid Everdeen, who can't believe her husband is stupid enough to teach their daughters that Hanging Tree song, and they were making nooses, Burdock! And more miners die on her table, and more children starve across the Seam.
Asterid Everdeen, who buries her husband, because anything good in the world is taken by the Capitol. Asterid Everdeen, who is aware that her children are starving like every other Seam child, and it's her fault. Because if she hadn't married Burdock, if she hadn't done the foolish thing and risked it all for love, then they'd be safe. And tesserae's an option, but then they'll end up like Maysilee. The mines always need workers, but then they'll end up like Burdock. The Head Peacekeeper stops the whippings, but has a habit of taking girls into his bed.
Asterid Everdeen, who watches her older daughter take the place of her younger one. Who watches her older daughter risk it all for love. Who remembers what happened to the Abernathys. Who pivots when the media asks who Gale is. Who sends food into the Seam wherever she can. Asterid Everdeen, who can feel the noose getting tighter.
Asterid Everdeen, who sees more of herself in Alma Coin than she'd care to admit, who watches another man from the Capitol turn her daughter into a symbol, who screams when Prim sneaks off to the Capitol and then follows her.
Asterid Everdeen, who cannot leave Katniss's side in the hospital and then cannot be near her because if Asterid stops moving, she will fall into the abyss again.
Asterid Everdeen, who cannot go home because there is no home to return to. Asterid Everdeen, who starts the first district hospital. Asterid Everdeen, who cries with Katniss when her older daughter is ready to talk.
Asterid Everdeen, who heard Maysilee whisper, "Nothing you can take from me was ever worth keeping," and then the Capitol took everything she had.

No but the Hunger Games really said "what do you hate more- the atrocities or the people who commit them against you? Because like it or not there IS a difference. If you hate the people who commit acts of pure evil more than you hate the acts themselves, what will stop you from becoming just like your enemies in your pursuit of justice? What will keep you from commiting those very same acts against THEM when the opportunity arises? And what then? The cycle of pain and suffering will never stop. Round and round it'll go. Nothing will ever change. But. BUT. If you hate the atrocities. If you hate the vile, senseless acts MORE than you hate the people who did them to you. If you are able to see that evil is evil regardless of who does it... The cycle ends with you. No, you may never get justice. But you will never be responsible for making others, even your enemies, suffer the same crimes you have. The atrocities will never be committed by you, never by your hand. And that's the way you change the world. It's the ONLY way" and that's why I am sure it will never stop being one of the most relevant works of fiction ever created
The most devastating line from Sunrise on the Reaping you ask?
oh.
Not to mention Lucy Gray dissappearing and becoming a mystery like her poem. Yippee.
"Lucy Gray is the Songbird and Snow is the Snake, so why is Haymitch's--"
No...... There's a Songbird and a Snake in all of us. That was the point of Ballad. Not that Lucy Good Snow Bad. It's Literally just a Two Wolves metaphor. Will you feed the Songbird or the Snake? Snow Chose Snake.
Yesssss the flint striker with the heads of a songbird and a snake merge together at the curve, the feathers blending into scales. They cannot be seperated.
Edit: I was just thinking about this, and I noticed Suzanne left signs for this everywhere....Lucy Gray is a songbird who can control and befriend snakes....Lou Lou is refered to as a bird at one point, and she is severely attached to a snake, in the raven poem from which Lenore Dove got her name, if we are considering the raven as snow....he just became a bird and a snake.
Do I make sense or just sound kinda dumb
