Fictional!Hamza Ali Mazari x Fem!oc
Nadia and Rehman were textbook childhood sweethearts, expect for the fact that they broke up and Nadia left Lyari. The breakup had been amicable, with them both growing into different people and understanding that they simply weren't meant to spend the rest of their lives together. What Nadia didn't expect was to be pregnant when she left.
She loved her son. Zayan was the light of her life, all the hardships she faced with being a young single mother, living alone, working to feed both of them, he made it all worth it. He was the perfect child, and every parent believes their child is perfect, but Zayan was truly the best thing to ever happen. Every parent-teacher meeting you attended were filled with nothing but praises for you son, it didn't matter if it was regarding his grades, attitude, or his beautiful voice, he was perfect.
Even being a teenager didn't change much, he was still the sweetheart he was when he was a toddler. The only major difference was the sudden surge of protection he felt for Nadia. She didn't understand why he became so protective regarding her until she overheard his classmates parents talking about her being a single working mother and the need for a father figure in a child's life. Zayan had interrupted the conversation, defending Nadia and telling them off at the same time, as respectfully as he could.
Coming back to Lyari hadn't been her choice. After her father's passing, she needed to return in order to settle his affairs and sign the papers to claim her childhood home. Zayan had been ecstatic, he loved going to new places and getting a chance to live in his mother's hometown in her childhood home? basically the dream.
Nadia didn't enjoy the looks she was getting, the judgement, the questions, but she was used to it all. What she wasn't used to, however, was running into rehman and his wife, ulfat while she was roaming the market with zayan. Rehman wasn't an idiot, the moment he saw nadia with a young boy, he knew.
Nadia was, to put it eloquently, losing her shit.
Now, zayan never asked questions about his father, he didn't need to. For him, Nadia was more than enough. nadia on the other hand didn't want to share his parentage with him at any costs. There wasn't a deep rooted emotional reason behind it, it was pretty simple, she just didn’t want to ruin rehman's marriage.
Zayan looked between his mother and the couple infront of him with curiosity, before finally breaking the silence,
"Mama, aap inko jante hai kya?"
Nadia shook her head slightly to regain her bearings before wrapping her arm around zayan and pulling him into her side.
"Ye...rehman hai, mere bachpan ka dost. Jab chote the toh bohot kareeb the ek doosre se.."
Rehman finally tore his gaze from zayan and looked at his first love. "Lyari mei wapas lautne ki mubarake."
( Mom, do you know him? )
( This is rehman..my childhood friend. We were quite close when we were young... )
( Congratulations in returning to Lyari. )
Nadia smiled and thanked him before making some small talk with ulfat, who was very kind, nadia could see why rehman fell for her. It was after a minute or two when zayan left to get some items that it was finally brought up by ulfat.
Rehman took in a sharp breath.
"Aur tumne mujhe bataya tak nahi?"
"Nahi rehman, aur main maafi bhi nahi mangungi. Tum nahi jante ki maine kitna kuch kiya hai! Zayan mera beta hai! ....aur merko khabar mili thi ki tumhara nikkah ho gaya tha, main kisiki shaadi ke beech mei nahi ghusna chahti thi."
Ulfat smiled slightly as she held rehman's hand and drew circles on the back of it.
( ...He's rehman's yes.. )
( And you didn't think to tell me? )
( No rehman, and I won't apologise for it. You have no idea what all I have done! Zayan is my son! ...and I got word you got married, and I had no intentions of getting in the middle of a marriage. )
She sighed before looking back at them, "Woh tumhara khoon hai, agar tum usse janna chaho toh woh tumhare haq hai. Lekin tum usse bilkul nahi bata sakte ki tum uske abbu ho." Nadia had a valid reason for not wanting zayan to know. She knew that if zayan found out his father already had a family, he would feel guilty for breaking it, despite it not being his fault.
( He's your blood, if you wanna get to know him that's your right. But under no circumstances can you tell him you're his father. )
Rehman and ulfat seemed to have a silent conversation before he nodded. "Manzoor hai." They said their goodbyes and were about to leave when Rehman stopped her, "Nadia..tumne jo kuch bhi kiya, uske liye bohot bohot shukriya."
( Nadia, for everything that you've been through and done...thank you very much. )
Zayan was confused as to why this couple was coming over for dinner when his mother was, as respectfully as he could put it, a hermit. But he did enjoy watching his mother smile and make friends with that woman, ulfat, who was very kind. Rehman was weird, he kept looking at him intensly but zayan didn't mind.
It took a while, but he opened up to them and nadia had never been more grateful to have such a perfect son.
The mother son duo has been in lyari for 6 months now.
In that time rehman had become like an uncle to zayan, and nadia had become quite close to ulfat. Zayan had even become friends with their sons, naieem and faizal, despite being older than them. Nadia also had the opportunity of meeting rehman's absolute enigma of a second hand, Hamza Ali Mazari.
She was, to put it simply, down bad.
It got to a point where zayan would make kissy faces behind hamza's back whenever he was around. Don't get nadia wrong, it wasn't all physical, sure he was gorgeous with his luscious hair, emerald eyes, and delicious muscles, but it was the way he interacted with zayan that confirmed that she loved him. Hamza never treated him like a child, he spoke to him like a normal human being, but his eyes and voice would always soften, he would automatically place himself between zayan and the road if they were outside, and he would always, always, listen to what he said and keep it in mind. Zayan had once mentioned his favorite classical singer in passing, the next week hamza wordlessly handed him a CD of all his works.
When hamza and nadia started dating, she was worried about how to break this to zayan but turns out it was for nothing cause the moment she sat him down to tell him, he jumped up and hugged hamza. Hamza. Not her, hamza. Obviously she was pulled into the hug too but she's still bitter about it.
She never though about marrying, but that changed. It was when the three of them were in her home, she was reading her book while hamza and zayan cooked dinner that she knew she was throughly screwed. Zayan was arguing and laughing when it happened. "Kya kar rahe hai aap! Galat bana rahe ho!" Zayan said while laughing.
"Galat? Zayan beta tum ganna jante hoge, lekin khana pakane ke mamle mei main mahar hu"
"Arre abbu yaar! Aap hamesha aise nahi kar sakte!"
The moment the words left zayan, hamza froze. Nadia herself felt her body grow warm and tears fill her eyes. Zayan on the other hand, acted like it was nothing new and continued with kneading the dough. Hamza looked over at nadia with wide eyes and a smile growing on his face. She got up quickly and pulled zayan and Hamza into a hug, ignoring zayan's protests as she placed kisses on both their faces.
That night hamza cried in her arms. They spent the night wrapped in each other, whispering words of devotion and love. Nadia had never felt more fullfilled.
( What are you doing! You're making it wrong! )
( Wrong? Zayan you may know music, but in matters of food I'm the expert. )
( Come on dad! You can't always do this! )
Hamza was zayan's dad as much as she was his mother. Of course, rehman would be a part of zayan's life, he was his birth father after all, but he had his own family and sons. As she watched hamza lug in his belongings, put his clothes in the cupboard, the perfume she loved so much, and his rings, on the bedside, nadia was confident she was making the right choice.
As she slept soundly with his strong arms wrapped around her, feeling warm and safe, nadia knew her she and her son would be spending the rest of their lives with a man who wanted to be a husband and father who would put them first, no matter what.
Now, they sat in their living room separated by a sheer curtain as they finalized their devotion. Nadia looked around the room, surrounded by her loved ones, old and new family, her son and Hamza. Nadia looked at Hamza through the veil before saying the words that would bind their souls together for eternity.
Qubool hai, qubool hai, qubool hai.
