Thinking about Rocky as grace’s makeshift wheelchair otw to Erid

After he finishes the prototype xeno-suit, when Grace is too weak to do much walking - and a traditional mobility aid would be difficult/inefficient in the cramped cluttered Hail Mary space, so Rocky just carries him around.

Grace weighs practically nothing to him (both normally and due to the weight loss) and the warmth of the xeno-suit is actually really good for grace’s pain.

Grace sits on him like a stool while Rocky works on a project, one arm bracing grace’s back

Rocky gently carrying him up the ladders, settling him into the captain seat and buckling him in

Rocky letting Grace lean on him like a cane on the days where they exercise his legs/ he has the strength to walk

Rocky lifting him up into the sleeping cot and tucking him in, since Grace can’t swing up anymore and Rocky doesn’t want him sleeping on the hard flooring

i think rocky has a thing for watching grace eat but he doesn’t care much about traditionally ‘sexy’ foods. like, grace wrapping his mouth around a popsicle isn’t that interesting to him, but he LOVES listening to him eat super crunchy foods. he likes the extra saliva produced by sour foods, or the tears and mucus caused by eating something really spicy. he’s very interested when grace has to pick sticky foods out of his molars or floss popcorn kernels out of his teeth.

and of Course he likes shelled foods. grace cracks open a pistachio and rocky immediately appears beside him like “grace do again. now.”

Ok but the next day when Grace woke up Rocky must have been like “seriously though what the fuck is a dream? because that shit you said last night made zero sense.”

Brb, thinking about how eridian brains are made of crystals and their thoughts are literally light refractions, so would the inside of an eridian brain just... be visibly bright?

I like to imagine Grace tussling with the very morbid thought, struggling to find a way to word his question in a sensitive way, because he can't very well go up to Rocky and ask

Hey buddy, so if I cracked your carapace open, would your brain be full of pretty lights?

Rocky would think he's insane and stick him in the airlock for the rest of their trip home, and Grace wouldn't even blame him, because who asks that?

Alas, the biologist within him is so so curious, and Rocky is weirded out AF because why is Grace suddenly analytically frowning at his carapace every chance he gets? And is he... is he trying to peek inside his vents? Grace wtf, Rocky doesn't try to hear into your orifices.

*eridian scoff* Biologists...
