Let me tell you how I met wakfu:

It was 2019, I guess. I watched first episode out of excitement and curiousity but then I started to dislike it a little. Because of how they drew Evangelyne and Amalia’s clothes (one is a bland archer and other wears a forest bikini). Then I started to search it’s fandom. As I expected, people ship Percedal and Eva together. Same thing goes for Yugo and Amalia. I actually expected this two ships to canon cause that’s what usually happens. İt was before I got hurt by fandom shipping.

Anyway, I watched episode 2 as well. I was about to watch episode 3 but I didn’t finish it. So, I searched the fandom and the wiki more. And that’s how I got spoilers from season 3. I saw a screenshot of Yugo kissing Amalia. I thought they were teenagers (İ didn’t know the timeskip back then). This season actually introduced me to Adamai (İ should have finished season 1 early, I tend to spoil myself). İt seemed like they knew that dragon and he betrayed them but I didn’t understand the full story. But then I noticed two other kids, Elely and Flopin. They seemed to be the kids of Percedal and Eva. Then I thought to myself: how old are the main characters now ?! Also why did Yugo look the same? What kind of timeskip is this?

Btw, I discovered Qilby by watching a clip where Yugo defeated him. Yugo told Qilby can’t deceive him anymore and he locked Qilby in a white dimension. I didn’t know what was the deal of Qilby. All I understood was that he was a villain. İ didn’t research about him (old me should have).

Then I stopped engaging with wakfu for 4 years because I thought that show was ridiculous, confusing and inapporiate (forgive me for saying this, some characters looked creepy and girls looked weird)

At 2024, I saw a amv of wakfu season 4, where Yugo got tortured and his body changed. I felt so bad for him. I thought his childhood got stripped away. I got curious, so I went to look for more of season 4. Let’s say, ıt was not satisfying for me.

Then I took a research. Turns out, eliatropes age differently and Yugo is 21?! Did you honestly expect me to believe that 12 year old looking boy is actually 21 ?! İt’s ridiculous to me. Then I started to think lowly of wakfu more. That’s why I stayed away from it.

Until 2025, because I some great wakfu artists and one of them made redesigns. That actually gave me an idea to create my own. To do that, I spent three months watching first two seasons. I admit, it was kinda hard for me to go through scenes I don’t like. How is this a kid show ?! But I didn’t stop. If I wanna make a rewrite au, then I must see it’s flaws. İt was a relief when I finished watching it. İ got interested in brotherhood of tofu. They became the main story of my au. A rewrite project turned into something where İ explore characters and where İ put them in scenes I would love.

Then I read critics I agree with. I felt so seen.

So yeah, I have a hate-love relationship with Wakfu

Note: btw, the reason I got interested in this was because of Yugo (He’s so cute!) and the fantasy theme

I really loved your rant. I first watched this show back in 2014 on Netflix when it had just come out, and I got hooked almost immediately. Little me had the biggest crush on Evangelyne and Amalia, and I absolutely adored both of them. Amalia especially stood out to me because she had the same brown skin as me, and she was a princess. Back then I was obsessed with Tiana and pretty much any Black or brown character because I hardly ever saw characters who looked like me. Honestly, I assumed they were all Black, even when they weren't.

When I was younger, I never noticed any of the writing issues. I watched the show over and over until I eventually drifted away from it. Then I got back into it around 2020, made OCs, and fell back into the fandom for a few months. Funny enough, I never watched S3 because I'd heard so many people talk about how bad the writing was. I only ever rewatched S1- 2.

I've already talked about the way some of the minor and female characters were sexualized, especially during S1 and 2. A lot of the female cast shared the same very slim body type, which got repetitive. Thankfully, that improved later on, even if it seemed to come at the expense of the show's budget. I've also mentioned how Evangelyne gradually stopped feeling like her own character. She became more tied to the kids, and in my opinion. Meanwhile, Percedal continued to receive most of the character development. I also think both Adamai and Amalia were treated unfairly by the story.

I've finally started reading the manga and I'm planning to play more of the games because I want to understand Wakfu beyond just the animated series. I also still plan on working on my own Wakfu rewrite. And if you love Wakfu and still enjoy it, I'm not trying to convince you to suddenly hate it. I'm also not someone who thinks there's nothing good about the series, that couldn't be further from the truth. I only became active in the fandom this year. Before that, I never really had the courage to participate, especially since I was underage and too nervous to post my art or share my thoughts publicly.

I like Wakfu a lot, but I don't think it's some untouchable masterpiece of storytelling. It's a fun, memorable show, and for many people it's their first introduction to the franchise. I still have nostalgia from this show.

I really like Noramalia. I don't even know why, since Nora only appeared for one season and barely interacted with Amalia. I guess I just love the idea and potential of them as a wlw ship, one being part of the main cast and the other being important to the main character. We already have lesbians, of course, but something about these two just appeals to me.

So, why did I make this post? Honestly, I didn't feel like drawing and just wanted to make my own little "I love Nora x Amalia" post. I know Amalia and Yugo are officially together and canon, and I'm not going to pretend Noramalia is canon or hate on Yumalia because of it. While I don't love Yumalia as much as Noramalia, I still enjoy Amalia with either of them. I love seeing Yumalia fanart, and seeing Amalia in a happy relationship doesn't make me upset. I ship Nora x Amalia for fun and because it gives me ideas and things I can project onto the ship.

I also made this post because it's still Pride Month, and lesbians in media are seriously underrated. I need more of them. I love Noramalia. Any fanart of them sends me feral because there's so little of it that I cling to anything that reminds me of the ship.

I've always seen Amalia as bi, leaning more toward men, but then slowly developing a crush on a woman instead of falling instantly like her younger self probably would.

As for Nora, I see her as a demisexual lesbian. Yes, she died at the end, but if she had gotten a happy ending, I definitely think she'd end up with a woman. I just can't picture her with a man at all.

amalia oh amalia the girl you could've been...

she's my baby actually

I didn't want to write this up in my notes app so I'm just gonna ramble here

for her color palette (as seen, if my handwriting is decipherable) it's based mostly on amber, crown imperial flowers and the color palettes of her family n doll🔻

the darker orange + reds and browns, which are (and will be) prevalent in her father and brother's color palettes, are supposed to represent authority and her over all lack of agency in the palace. Thus, they're most prevalent in her amber necklace (intentionally made it a necklace since it's wrapped around her, basically 'choking' her), since amber in my au is the trademark of the sadida kingdom. Also seen in the patch on her doll (keepsake from the palace) and it's stitches (lack agency once again since the doll is a representation of her, but could also represent how her family built this false image of her technically) + her bracelet because of how controlling evangelyne became after cleophee left.

Yellow represents happiness, seen in her bracelet (happiness in her friendship with evangelyne), center of her headband and the doll's flower (more happiness).

Off white represents innocence and starting a new slate/life (adventuring, running off) + the peace in her newfound freedom. It's pared with the amber to represent the intentional and overall ignorance (thus false innocence) of her family regarding her wishes.

Brighter orange represents freedom.

Green represents strength + freedom and nature/growth in general, hence why it's in her headband & armbands, foot accessories, pack, etc., and is the color most used.
