I mean like, the music scene in the city of Atlanta, Georgia. That’s where I’m from.
“Oh! That makes more sense. I’ve never been there. What’s it like?”
“Finding a part time job is harder than it seems,” she sighed staring at job listings on her laptop.
“What are some of the skills you have?” Douglas asked, “Maybe I can help.”
It’s honestly a little depressing that I never appreciated how great the music scene is in Atlanta until now.
“Is that a musical?”
“My mom just dropped off some old yearbooks and photo books and I feel bad for probably being the only human being who didn’t completely hate their school photographs.”
“Thankfully, I was homeschooled up until the other half of my junior year, so the only school photo I have taken is my senior portrait. But, judging from TV, I can tell that having a school picture made can be horrific.”
My life has become hectic and I’m slowly accepting it. Coffee would be greatly appreciated at all times now.
“What kind of coffee? Decaf? Double shot? Mocha? Caramel? This is very important.”
@codadouglas: just finished applying for housing for school. #itsallhappening
@codadouglas: thank you for being the greatest friend a brother could ask for. #brothersisterlove
“Does anyone else feel stressed as fuck, it’s March, fucking March…”
“Not really. I feel okay, but I guess deciding where I want to go has made things easier.”
“Props to you for getting out of here for a while. This place is stifling.”
“Thank you. That was the goal.”
“That’s amazing! I’m so happy for you! Do you want to do something like that when you’re completely finished school?”
“Yes! I actually want to go into broadcast, but some experience in print and online journalism wouldn’t hurt. Plus, it’s something to add to my resume.”
“Okay, Douglas, cool. Tell me again why I should care so much?”
“Because I’m one step closer to becoming the next Anderson Cooper, which you should be afraid of.”
“Just found out that I have landed a summer internship with a newspaper in Chicago! Things are getting better already.”
“So, how often do you fuckers have parties in this shithole town?”
“Despite the fact that I’m 18, I still have a curfew, so I don’t have parties at my house.”
“It feels so good to be home!”
“Welcome back! I’m Douglas, it’s not to meet you.”
“Holy sh—” Hal gasped looking at the keys in the boy’s hand. “You’re the best!” She hugged him automatically. “Oh, sorry. That was probably weird.” She stepped back. “Thank you! I don’t usually lose things but I’ve been having an off day and wow! Thank you. This is not my car. It’s my—” she frowned. She didn’t know what to call Blake’s mom. “It’s Blake’s mom’s car.” She nodded, not sure how to explain anything. “It’s good to see you, wow, shit. I haven’t seen you around in a while,” she remarked, patting him on the arm.
Douglas chuckled as Hal hugged him. “Not a problem. The Bishop Mobile is my baby, so I totally understand.” Shoving his hands in his pockets, the boy nodded as he listened to her explain. “Oh, that makes sense,” he said, “About the whole freaking out thing, I mean. Nice car.” Hearing this made Douglas’ heart warm up. Even though it was something little, he still enjoyed hearing it; things like this made his day. “It’s nice seeing you too, Hal. I’ve been... around. Just drowning in school work. How have you been?”
Call // Douglas and Ford
Ford: I don't know what to tell you, honestly you two have had a slippery slope of shit, maybe it's time to end it. Maybe you two work better as friends.
Douglas: I knew that getting back together with him wouldn't be beneficial. I kept telling myself that, but I didn't listen. I'm sure you're right, though. I just [pause] I just wish that we would have waited a little longer to get back together to see if we actually wanted to work things out, you know?
