Jean who doesn’t understand why they’re so insistent on teaching him such things when he doesn’t EAT such things, but three nights later he [Jean] finds himself awake at midnight and making Jeremy store-bought Mac & cheese bcs quote “It’s the only kind I want right now :(“

(Self-indulgent thing) Cody having Jean listen to The Devil Went Down To Georgia. Cody watching Jean’s face as they listen and they can tell Jean is conflicted until the end when Johnny gets the golden fiddle anyway. Jean looking at his friend and saying “It is good to lean on others but sometimes you have to make a stand for yourself.” And Cody smiling. “Yes.”

For context, because I doubt most people on this app are from the southern US and grew up 20+ years ago: the Devil (whatever villain you choose in this case) dares Johnny (Jean, both probably and unironically in canon) to make a deal: whoever plays the fiddle the best, wins. But the Devil orders up a band of demons to play with him, leaning on them to make his Will be done VERSUS Johnny who plays the fiddle all alone and wins the battle because it was all about Him and HIS skill; his triumph; etc.

Delusional membrane: Jean realizing he is his own person and talent scout; Jean coming to grips with the fact that yes he is lovely, and he is lovely because he is HIMSELF. Jean who hears a silly lil bluegrass tune and understands so much about himself and his potential after.
