Os Guinness. I ate dinner with him and he seemed like the grandpa I never had, I watch this video and I am inspired to promote freedom in the public square. A man of singular devotion displayed in so many wonderful ways.
"In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going."
from John 14:2-4 ESV
This weekend, one of my favorite people ever came back to the States after being gone for nearly a year. I was outlandishly excited. Seriously, Megan Sexton, so lovely.
Before she got back, I was able to help sort and clean her room a bit with her sister and my good friend, Lauren. Making the bed. Dusting windowsills. Pillow fluffing. The works.
Let me tell you, it was the greatest joy. It made Megan coming back all the more real and I got to be part of her homecoming, helping to make a place for her. As I was watching Lauren vacuum, it got me thinking about Jesus and the room He's preparing for us. I think of most of the tasks of God as laborious, but having experienced a slice of what Jesus is currently up to in Heaven, I think things like this are much more joyous. He's certainly gladdened by your joining Him, and I think you'll love the place.
spent last Sunday here, at Scribe. It was marvelous.

the little basil plant that could
I have a friendly basil plant. It lives near a window, under a lamp, in my kitchen. In the few weeks it's lived there, it has contributed a little flavor flav to my otherwise boring pasta dinners and has proved to be a faithful companion to the blender beside it.
However, there used to be many nearly-dead leaves clinging to my basil plant. The basil was looking quite disheartened, and frankly, I feared for it's life. A roommate suggested I remove some of those dead leaves so that it might look pretty before it's final departure. I thought that was a polite idea, so I plucked away. It wasn't until my little basil plant started looking like it had the best spa day ever that I remembered:
Jesus prunes us! And it's the best! The pruning is a cause for joy because it means we are still being saved. God takes His little green thumb and index finger and gets those dead things outta there, so that we can stretch out to Heaven, seeking the Light that is life.
So here's to the pruning of those silly hinderances, to the glory of the Gardener forever and ever. Amen.

The most significant event in our pasts is not our most shameful transgressions but the death and resurrection of Jesus.
