The Occult Conspiracy claims that the Lascaux cave paintings are evidence of prehistoric mystery schools. It's literally a bunch of animals. If you think a bunch of galloping honsies proves the existence of a prehistoric mystery religion, your head is stuck pretty far up your ass.
No matter what a post on tumblr tries to tell you, your moral and ethical stances will never be determined by what you reblog and what you scroll past. Donāt let manipulation tactics force you into doing anything you donāt want to do.
I find it very interesting to note the times in which this post has a sudden resurgence. It often follows very stressful, upsetting events, where a lot ofĀ āREBLOG THIS OR YOU SUCKā posts start appearing on this site.Ā
So Iāll say it again: it is okay if you come to tumblr to escape upsetting news. It is okay if youāre just here for fun and fandom. It is okay if you do not want to use your tumblr as a place to read about or spread the current events that are circulating. It is okay if you need a place to decompress and just relax. There are other ways to be involved in/support causes and you are allowed to set boundaries on social media platforms without it being indicative of your belief systems.Ā
Your beliefs, values, ethics, and moral stances are not determined by whether or not you reblog something.Ā
āWhy is Toph straight?ā āWhy is Zuko bi?ā
Youāre asking why Toph ātwo DIFFERENT mystery baby daddiesā Beifong and Firelord āinstalove with the boys his age as soon as he befriends themā Zuko might be boykissers?
Storyboard made years before LOK that showscase Kataang, Mai, Zuko and their young daughter :)
Also....the adult gaang we deserved
Recently rewatched a bit of LOKās Book 2 and itās surprising how much the Kataang sibling bickering has nothing to do with them directly calling Aang a bad father, or even a neglectful one. I think stating from what we see shown here as a black and white āAang was a bad fatherā take is really reductive to the dynamic happening there.
The whole reason Bumi and Kya are angry is specifically Tenzin and his behavior. Heās entirely dismissive of their feelings of inadequacy for not being airbenders (at the time, at least, for Bumi). He doesnāt acknowledge the special bond he had with Aang and just assumes it was Kya and Bumiās own choice to be slightly more distant. Theyāre not angry at Aang for favoring Tenzin, theyāre angry at Tenzin for not being thankful for that special bond he had and trying to pretend that Kya and Bumiās feelings were completely unimportant, or even incorrect.
Thereās not a point throughout the episodes in which it comes up where they even imply that Aang didnāt care about them. They just point out that Tenzin had a lot of bonding time with Aang due to his responsibilities as the next and only other Airbender. Thereās also a lot of evidence that Kya and Bumi were not 100% interested in being fully immersed in the air nomad culture, which to a degree shows Aangās maturity to let his children choose their own paths. Hell, he even tells Tenzin from beyond the grave to not try to be a carbon copy of him and do his own thing. Kya directly states she didnāt pay attention to the air nomad history stuff. Using the āhe took Tenzin on more vacations so he loved him moreā thing is purely a fan reach. The older siblings only brought it up to point out that Tenzin was blissfully and hurtfully ignorant of the responsibilities his existence placed on his father and how it affected their family.
I donāt think Kya or Bumi are mad at Aang for how much he had to focus on Tenzin, nor were they at the time. I also donāt think thereās anything there that says he never spent time with his other kids. Older siblings of low-functioning special needs children often feel left out in ways, but theyāre not mad at their parents for having to put a lot of energy into their younger sibling. Itās an unfortunate situation, and in Tenzinās case, when said younger sibling tries to write off those feelings, it sucks. But I think both of them are mature enough to understand the pressure Aang had. And the fact Tenzin didnāt appreciate that pressure would be infuriating.
the cold path
Remember when you see the trends, when you see things touting softness or meekness or dependence or subservience as desirable traits, when you see "clean girl" or "soft girl" or that beige/pink spotless house aesthetic, when you see homemaking and childrearing and domestic labor glamorized as Essentially Feminine Things, THAT IS PROPAGANDA.
If you Choose any of these things because they appeal to you personally and privately, that's one thing. If you feel that you Must do any of these things in order to be Desirable or Acceptable, you are eating the boot.
Remember that the patriarchy and the fascists WANT you soft. They want you waifish and babyfaced and demure and housebound and god-fearing and SILENT.
Remember always that no matter how soft or feminine or family-oriented you CHOOSE to be, you do not OWE that to anyone.
Remember always that feminism means choice and inclusion and equity. Anything that takes that away is anathema. Especially when it comes from other women.
Remember that trans women are your sisters too. Remember that an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us, and the oppression of ANY person's bodily autonomy or right to self-determination is oppression for ALL.
Remember that we stand together or we fall apart.
And remember that all of you have teeth.
USE THEM.
Above all, QUESTION WHY YOU LIKE THESE THINGS!!!!!
The most radical thing you can do is constantly challenge your beliefs and seriously question if you follow things blindly (not your fault if you do! You entered a world w a BAJILLION year long history, there will be ideas floating around that you may accidentally latch onto!)
If you can justify to yourself why you like these things, and extend your argument past "it makes me feel feminine," then hey! You have a real interest!
But push more, always push more! And be okay w the answer you find.
TDLR; "it makes me feel feminine" is NOT a good enough reason to like traditionally feminine things!!!!!!!!!
The Realistic Horror of Tarrlok: Why We Need to Stop Overlooking the Subtext in LoK Book 1
Can we actually talk about how media illiteracy makes people completely misidentify who the scariest villain in The Legend of Korra Book 1 actually is? Because everyone loses their minds over Amonāthe masked extremist taking away bendingāwhile completely turning a blind eye to the absolute, skin-crawl horror of Tarrlok.
Amon is spectacle horror. He is nightmare fuel, sure, but heās an ideological anomaly.
Tarrlok? Tarrlok is systemic, intimate horror personified. He is the exact type of dangerous, predatory man that women and young girls have to survive and navigate in the real world every single day.
Let's look at the actual canonical receipts of his behavior toward Korra, because if this show didnāt have a TV-PG Nickelodeon rating, it would be classified as a straight-up psychological thriller:
He doesn't understand consent or boundaries. When Korra explicitly tells him "no" to joining his task force, he doesn't respect her autonomy. He treats her "no" as a challenge to his masculine ego. He love-bombs her achievements, throws a massive gala, manipulates the press, and publicly corners her with cameras to trap her into submission. It is textbook coercive control wrapped in a politicianās smile.
The predatory power imbalance. Letās do the actual math: Korra is a 17-year-old legal minor in Book 1. Tarrlok is an established politician in his late 30s or 40s. He is constantly trying to force her to "submit" to his authority, and when he can't break her spirit politically, he resorts to physical domination.
The basement dynamic is horrifying. When he kidnaps her, strips her of her freedom, and locks her in a literal metal box downstairs in a secluded basement, the subtext completely shifts. It mimics the terrifying reality of predatory captivity. He isolates her from her support systems, controls her environment, and holds her completely at his mercy.
The Frollo Parallel. He is doing exactly what Frollo did to Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He uses the authority of the state and the excuse of "cleaning up the city" to mask a deeply toxic, obsessive desire to crush a highly independent, marginalized young woman who refused to bow to him.
And please, do not bring up his "tragic backstory" in Skeletons in the Closet as a get-out-of-jail-free card. Trauma explains behavior, but it does not excuse it. Before he tried to play the victim, Tarrlok:
Preyed upon and kidnapped a teenage girl.
Oppressed innocent non-bending civilians.
Arrested teenagers (Justice for Asami, Mako, and Bolin!) who were just trying to help.
Lied about being attacked to maintain his powerful image.
When he stated he was going to take Korra with him "as a hostage" to escape the city, the real-world implications of an older male captor fleeing with a captive teenage girl are incredibly dark. Because itās a family-friendly show, the network used total physical containment as a network-approved shorthand for much worse real-world violations (sexual harassment and attempted assault).
Overall, Tarrlok isn't just a villain; he's a cautionary tale about how men in power use the system to isolate and break women who challenge them.
Maybe I'm just not woke enough but I genuinely do not see the issue in Su trying to assassinate Kuvira after Kuvira made it very clear that she wants Su to hand her peaceful city state over to the fascist regime that has concentration camps Or Elseā¢ļø. And had an entire military with Tanks lined up in front of said peaceful city state.
Like yeah probably not the best parenting move but at that point we are not parental figure and ward we are two adults and you are threatening the safety and quality of life of the population that is directly under my care. And that means that you gotta go.
The antifascism leaving tumblr leftists bodies when the fascist is conventionally attractive, has a somewhat sob story and is good at painting themselves as the victim in a circumstance they have created:
Help help! This meta is too based!
some of you bitchass motherfuckers will victim blame korra for being groomed by her own disgusting fucking uncle until the day you fucking die huh
āYeah I know losing the past avatars was a mistake but her arc āā nope nope nope not acceptable either. Wasnāt her mistake. She was groomed and then assaulted. Hope that helps.
āKorra literally ruined everything!!!1!1ā

>her uncle assaulting her

oh honeyā¦. try being a kataanger in 2005-2008. it was 100x worse back in those days as opposed to now. you couldnāt be anywhere online so much as mentioning the ship without getting dogpiled by zvtarians completely unprovoked. it was genuinely cut throat. I am so serious when I say that lol. The absolute worst ship war Iāve ever been in or seen and what you see nowadays is nothing compared to all we had to deal with back in the day. you think youāre fighting for your life in 2024? yeah, yāall wouldnāt have survived the countdown to the 4 part finale live
I was there, Gandalf⦠3,000 years ago
Iāve been active in fandom spaces throughout ATLAās original run. I have seen things⦠I have endured⦠I have fought for my life in those trenches š©āš»
No, I loved it when there was anti-Kataang art in the DeviantArt tag, or when Zeekays spewed their unwanted opinions on cute Kataang art.
Or being exposed to explicit ZK art when all I wanted was to look up images of my favorite show.
Or having our own clubs/fourm spaces raided with ZK trolls.
Good fucking times those were.
Donāt forget the suicide bait and death threats theyād send you on YouTube, and on kataang edits no less! Or when they told Mike and Bryan they were going to kill them? Or when they made up fake interviews that to this day they still cling to? Ah. Those were the days
And you canāt forget all of the SA fanfics zuts wrote in accompaniment with that sexually explicit fanart they forced us to look at!
Or what about all the comment bombing kataang fics? Or the art theft? That was super fun, too.
Lmao the abuse we went through⦠we were so bullied and ridiculed so many of us were genuinely scared to even mention we shipped KA⦠I remember SHAKING waiting for that finale š
