I spend a lot of time examining writing, queerness, storytelling, censorship, purity culture, the closet, community-building, and fandom. I'm deeply interested in the way that these things intersect, and the role that censorship and morality policing play in oppression.

and its not just that sam is less critical of john than dean. as early as 2.02 sam is saying he wants to do things because john would have wanted them to and he's using john's parenting and hunting as a guide for his own decision making.
meanwhile, after s1, while dean sometimes talks about john's life with empathy for john being in difficult situations, he is consistent about not wanting to be like john and not seeing johns choices as things to emulate.
I firmly believe that cas is equally weak to "I like you"-s as he is to "I love you"-s from Dean. Dean repeats both endlessly when he's blissed out from being fucked, and Cas is sooo affected by both.
Screaming, crying and crying some more....I love this game so much y'all, you just don't know. I was so sad the day I finished it because it'd be a bit before I could replay it. My son VIVIIIII!!!

Dean and Cas have been kind of going steady for years - neither of them have actually said it out loud to each other, but it's like, they go on hunts together, they go grocery shopping, they watch reruns of Doctor Sexy, they go to that farmers market Cas likes, they kiss (they kiss alot), they're literally regularly having sex and yet, one night, while they're cuddling in bed, Dean bolts upright with a gasp. (Cas is grumpily grabbing for his hips to get him to lie back down because he wasn't ready for the cuddling to end.)
Dean taps Cas's shoulder repeatedly, like he's about to drop the most profound revelation of his life, and he needs Cas's full attention - which he gets of course - and when he's sure Cas is listening he says, almost breathless, "Cas. You're my best friend."
And when Cas lifts one eyebrow Dean carries on like, "No. Listen. You're my best friend. The best friend I've ever had in my entire life. You've known me longer than anyone except Sammy. You're my best friend."
And Cas smiles and takes Dean's hand to tenderly kiss his palm - this brilliant beautiful idiot man - and says, "You're my best friend too, Dean."
