On using Nirvana’s Nevermind cover in their collage (from Pitchfork):

Pitchfork: For your album cover, you took Nirvana's Nevermind cover, flipped it upside down and chopped it up with another picture. What's the other picture? CO: Uh, it's a painting or something. One of our friends from high school did it for us. I'm not sure what the picture was. MK: It's a standard painting of the Virgin Mary, like, holding a crying baby or something. Pitchfork: Have you had any legal problems using the Nevermind cover? CO: No, not yet. We're re-pressing the vinyl, and so I think we're changing the cover just to avoid any possible problems with it. But no, we've been pretty fortunate with it. When it first came out, it was like, "Oh yeah, you guys are gonna get nailed." But Courtney Love hasn't sued us yet. MK: With such a limited pressing, you just get a cease-and-desist, anyway, which we're already doing. Courtney doesn't have time to go online looking at records. CO: Maybe she does.

SECRET 7″ 2016

This Friday (April 8th) Secret 7″ 2016 opens at Sonos Studio, Shoreditch.

Each year, Secret 7″ takes seven tracks - each from a well-known (Universal) artist - and invites creatives of all levels to pick one of the tracks and create a sleeve design inspired by it. The result is an exhibition of 100 sleeve designs for each of the seven tracks. And on May 2nd this year, it’s sale day, when each of the 700 sleeves is up for grabs, at £50 each, on a first-come-first-served basis.

And it’s all anonymous - you don’t know who created the sleeve you’re buying, or even (for sure) what track it’s for, until you’ve bought it. AND it’s for a good cause - Amnesty International UK.
