3th of May ‘16 - day 46/100: studied Greek and economics, practiced German and math exams.
25 ways to show your love, to a busy aspirational student
1. Tell them that they're working hard. Remind them that they are doing enough because self doubt is the biggest bitch.
2. Listen to them talk about what they want to do in the future. Let them share their goals and listen to whatever problems they're having.
3. Buy them coffee (or other preferred beverage).
4. While your at it pick up a muffin.
5. Give them space. They need it.
6. A hug a day keeps the shitty thoughts mildly away.
7. Smile a whole fucking lot.
8. Remind them often that they can take a break and that it will help them push forward not set them back.
9. Ask them if they want a study buddy, sometimes company helps.
10. Respect their wishes. If they say no, let it go, especially if they're having a good day.
11. Make an effort to spend time with them just so they know that you care.
12. Send a text their way before a test.
13. Ask how exams went and not in a 'I want to know if I did better then you say'
14. However a little competitiveness is good (as long as it's not destructive),power both of you to do better and achieve your own personnel goals.
15. Separate your goals! Be individual and don't let your goals pull your loved one back.
16. Be interested in their work!
17. Support their choices. It probably took a long time to figure out what they wanted to do and as long as you don't think the choice is obviously a bad idea you should validate them.
18. Encouragement is always appreciated.
19. Ask and care about how their sleep is.
20. Make an active effort to know a lot about them. It will help out later I promise.
21. Don't pretend to care about things you really don't. Although the effort will be appreciated it's actually pretty discouraging.
22. Treat them every once in a while. The effort will be returned and seriously it's the nicest thing.
23. Keep up communication. Especially during exam periods keep talking to them and let them know your there for them.
24. Share your thoughts and problems, communication is super important.
25. And lastly, just tell them you love them. It's honestly the most uplifting thing.
Good News!!
I don’t have many followers, but I wanted to tell you guys because this could greatly affect my studying.
I have moved into an apartment with my boyfriend!
Now, you’re probably wondering what this has to do with studying. Well, since I’m no longer living with my other friend at her home, I actually have space and silence to study in. A desk and everything.
Since I’m also not living with my mother anymore, I feel less stressed and worried. Starting tomorrow, I’m doing the 100 days of productivity. I’m really excited for this :)

it’s been a lovely weekend, full of family and good food. time to get back at it, though, with a geo mock on tuesday… feeling motivated and happy 💭
Busy day at Starbucks once I got out of work. 2 jobs = less time to study and lots more stress
But that new Coldplay song is AMAZING to listen to 😍
Looks cozy as hell x3

Tips for surviving campus (with depression/anxiety)*
As someone with depression and anxiety, I have mastered the art of going unseen on campus. Here are a few tips to surviving school life while managing your mental illnesses**:
1. Bring sunglasses with you and wear them wherever you go. It helps if they have super mirrored lenses so people can’t see your eyes. It gives me a sense of security to know that I don’t have to make eye contact with anyone.
2. Arrive early to class. I commute, so I always make sure that I leave extra early so I get to class early. No walking into a crowded room when everyone’s already there. No interrupting the lecture. No searching for a seat.
3. Take your time leaving. I always allow people to move ahead of me before I start to pack up my belongings. I use a lot of things in class (different colored pens, highlighters, water bottles, etc) and they all go in specific areas of my bag. I need to keep organized so I don’t fumble around and it’s embarrassing to get in someone’s way, so I just let others do their thing first and then pack up and go.
4. Bring a lunch. I bring my lunch so that I can eat wherever I want, usually in a secluded area. I don’t have to go to a crowded cafeteria or anything. If I need a snack or drink throughout the day, I just go to the bookstore or if I REALLY need it, Starbucks.
5. Get familiar with campus. I avoid crowded areas like the plague, so knowing when my favorite spots fill up is absolutely necessary.
6. Do as much work on campus as possible. The thing that saves me is doing my work between classes. Since I commute and have a job, that eats up a lot of time. However, by staying on campus later or going earlier on the days that I’m there, I know that I’ll get the work done and won’t be distracted by Netflix or tumblr. I use the school computers to ensure that doesn’t happen.
7. Bring headphones and listen to music that helps you focus. Campus can get pretty loud, so I need to use my headphones to drown people out (unfortunately, yes, even in the library).
8. USE YOUR FREE PRINTS. My school gives us something like 250 pages or something a semester and it literally saves me. I don’t print anything at home. I print out articles, power points, papers, whatever it is, I print it. You’re pretty much paying for them anyway. Bonus, you don’t have to worry about running out of ink or paper or your printer crashing.
9. Double check your bag for all your materials BEFORE you leave your house. I forgot my id one day when I had a paper due and had to ask a classmate to borrow his so I could print! So horrifying and I absolutely never want to feel like that again!
10. Drink a lot of water. I tend to lean more towards Gatorade, but water is better for you. It gives you energy and makes you feel better. Also, bring a snack and eat it.
11. Know where the bathrooms are! I get anxiety when I have to get up during class to use the restroom. I hate doing it so I always try to go before or after lecture, especially because I like to sit in the back.
12. Sit where you feel most comfortable. A lot of studyblrs tell you it’s better to sit in the front, but to be honest, it’s all about personal preference. I feel more comfortable towards the back, where I can spread out and no one is behind me and the professor doesn’t look at me too much. Find where you learn best and stick to that area.
13. Wear clothes that make you feel good. You don’t always have to look amazing. Wear clothes that you feel comfortable in, that you can concentrate in and that won’t make you feel like people are staring at you.
* This is a repost of an older post, but I thought I’d make it look nicer and make it sort of like a series.
**Disclaimer: these are things that have helped me, I don’t speak for everyone with a mental illness. Add your own if you have a good tip!
So everyone! I made my first studyblr post on my typical study routine. I had a rough time with it last semester am looking forward to making a powerful comeback. I hope this helps you out or inspires you to change your routine for the better.
Best of luck this upcoming semester! :)
HOW TO STAY AWAKE IN CLASS
Shower before class. Have a 9 a.m. class? Hop out of bed in the morning and head straight for the shower. It’ll wake you right up! Plus, your classmates will probably thank you.
Bring a water bottle, and drink plenty of H2O. Staying hydrated is a key factor in staying awake. Try putting ice in your water bottle; the cold water will keep you lively and alert.
Go to the bathroom. Walk off the sleepiness by taking a trip to the bathroom. The process of walking will get the blood circulating again. And don’t forget to take a stretch break while you’re in the hallway.
Bring eye drops. It’s hard to stay wide-eyed and awake when your eyes are dry and irritated from the lack of sleep. When they’re feeling dry, splash a couple drops in them. You’ll feel more refreshed and your eyes will be grateful.
Sit in the front row, or at least in the middle! The closer you are to the professor, the less likely you are to fall asleep due to volume. Not to mention the fear of getting caught dozing off will keep you wide awake!
Take note. If you are daydreaming, eventually that will turn into real dreaming when you fall asleep. It might be hard when you are so tired, but taking notes during class can help keep you awake. It will keep you focused on the class material and less focused on how tired you are.
Pressure points: Two of the best, and conveniently subtle, pressure points to keep you up are your earlobes and wrists. For your ear, while it may look like you’re just learning your cheek on your wrist, rub the area right above your lobe (or where a traditional ear piercing would be) between your thumb and index finger. Not only is it a fine motor movement to keep you active, but also invites blood to rush up towards your ear, and therefore, to your head. Or putting the inside of your wrists against something cold: the metal bar of your desk, the desktop, your laptop. The pressure point here will keep you awake!
Small, repetitive movements: Foot tapping and chewing gum, just like rubbing the pressure point in your ear, “wakes up” those muscles, returning blood to those areas and reinvigorating your blood circulation.
Hold your breath for a few moments. Every time you feel like you are falling asleep, hold your breath to a count of 100. You will become restless and more wakeful while you hold your breath. When you start breathing again, you’ll feel relieved and awake.
Tap your feet and drum your fingers. Even these slight movements will help get your circulation moving and keep you from falling asleep.
Avoid consuming too much sugar. Sugar will give you a short energy boost followed by a prolonged descent into sleepiness. Try a healthy energy boosting snack instead, for example, carrots. Carrots are a good energy booster, they’re healthy and won’t drain you of energy.
Snap a hair tie. Okay, this is a weird method but I swear it works for me. Seeing as I always have a hair tie on my wrist, anytime I feel myself falling asleep, I just snap the hair tie against my wrist to keep me awake. It doesn’t really hurt, but it is enough to keep you alert. Next time you feel like snoozing, just try it to see if it works for you.

Kid donates his savings to support a vandalised masjid, so the muslim community bought him the ipad he was saving for. ❤️
The sad thing is ABC news mentioned what this little angel did, but avoided mentioning that the Muslim community rewarded him back with the iPad for his generosity! [here]
If that doesn’t tell you about how the media twists things I don’t know what does
6:12 pm // getting ready for exam week
it starts in 4 days aaaahhh
this is the 14th fucking day of 2016, and look what has already happened
so, look. the capital city of my country just got kamikaze bombed today. jakarta, indonesia. i live a few hours from there. you know what got bombed? a mall. but the terrorists didn’t just target the entire mall, they specifically targeted American shops. McDonalds, KFC, Starbucks. right after, the terrorists started shooting the police and citizens. The officials speculated that it was ISIS. but you know what?
there is no #prayforjakarta trending in twitter. do you know how my people responded right after the bombs and the shootings? the workers continued working. the drivers continued driving. the cooks continued cooking. we know that this is a terrible and sad event, yet we do not want to remain in the past and retaliate against those who did against us. when paris got bombed, they got global support and coverage. all the first-world countries encouraged paris to bomb syria right back. and they did. obviously, i’m not speaking against paris and the people at all, but i’m just saying that indonesia, a muslim country, got terrorized by ISIS, and even without support of acknowledgement, we managed to mourn and move forward. just that. none of us blamed america (since they specifically targeted american-brand shops), nor syria, since we know that ISIS is NOT syria, which many, many people seem to have forgotten. we blame ISIS. we do not want to blame those who did nothing to us. i myself am catholic, and yet i do not hate any of my muslim friends and fellow citizens.
i just find it odd that when a first-world white city was bombed, everyone freaked out and told them to bomb syria right back, and yet when a muslim country is bombed, nobody seems to care.
why is #prayforsyria not trending? why is #prayforjakarta not trending? why is it that when ISIS terrorize muslim countries, everyone seems to turn blind?
and hey, i’m not going to apologize for my bad english.
