Why c!Eret absolutely DOES get to mourn c!Tommy and isn't "pretending to care"
If we go wayyy back, before the time of L'Manberg, you'll get a glimpse of why exactly Eret's betrayal hurt so much. Eret loved Tommy and Tubbo, they said it multiple times themselves. Tommy loved Eret a lot, whenever he was around him he'd compliment his voice or tell him how cool he was, and whenever he'd mess around with Eret, Eret would just let him and laugh about it. Eret was the first "big brother figure" on the SMP, saying at one point even he felt that way
-Tommy meets Eret on the SMP
-Tommy, Tubbo, Eret and Fundy kill Withers together
-Eret catches Tommy stealing from him. Eret, Tommy n Tubbo hang out for a bit
This is WHY Eret's betrayal hurt so much. Tommy trusted Eret so much.
But still, whenever they'd interact after that it would always be in a lighthearted way, though the relationship was strained. Whenever Tommy would insult Eret it never seemed like he genuinely hated him, and Eret at one point (in a deleted Tubbo VOD) admitted he's quite lonely on the Dream SMP side. This was the first hint of regret we'd seen from him.
There's been multiple instances of Tommy continuing the lighthearted messing around with Eret, such as:
-Tommy and the newly introduced BIG LAW mess around with Eret
-Eret lets Tommy "steal" from him
Eret just lets it happen. He never kills Tommy over it, he never shows any sign of disliking or hating him, it's clear he still loves these kids so much despite the betrayal, despite how many times he says "I dont have any regrets".
And then The Elections happen.
Schlatt is made president, and things go to shit. Then we get a GOOD look into Eret's thoughts from his POV. Eret watches Tommy and Wilbur be exiled and his thoughts are "I need to stop Schlatt, I need to help Wilbur and Tommy". This is when he starts openly regretting the betrayal of L'Manberg, saying over and over he needs to make it up to Tommy and Wilbur as king. Eret wanting a redemption arc was his thing during the entire Manberg era, from the Elections to November 16th when he chose Pogtopia and was dethroned.

(CC!Eret had moved to America during this so he was in a completely different timezone and was no longer online every time CC!Tommy was so we got barely any interactions from them for a bit. I remember this because I was very sad about it)
We also have CC!Eret's recent long mental health breaks where he's not been very active on the server. I'm unsure of what the canon reasoning for this is yet but we cant really hold it against him for "not doing anything while Tommy was exiled" bc he wasnt There in canon. He canonically could not have known a single thing from this time.
And then we have the scene where Tommy tells Eret he's the rightful king, and Eret later says something along the lines of "well if Tommy says so" like bro 🥺
Eret absolutely DOES get to mourn Tommy. Eret and Tommy genuinely loved eachother so much despite everything.. to say Eret is "pretending to care for Tommy now he's gone" is plain false
