one of the craziest things about season 3 was Dean being like: I think we're going to have to kill these people Sam 😡😡 I know you will object bc you are a bastion of moral purity aw so cute little lamb who wants to do the Right Thing 💖‼️but I must insist we enact the righteous violence as is our charge. and Sam being like: ok fine. I think not many men watch supernatural and understand it. Like yes you all harbor your crushes on Jensen ackles. But why is that? Why does every boy think "dean is better than Sam,"? (An altogether different argument about the fact that the show is about both Sam and dean and if you pick a side then you're not gonna understand it) Anyway, I think it's like with American Psycho. Boys see dean and idolize him even though the whole point is dean's masculinity is toxic. It's a facade. His real feelings– beside womanizer, soldier– are deemed "feminine" by himself. This is not healthy behavior and you as the audience must recognize this. Sam, wearing his heart on his sleeve, being a normal guy, is compared to this caricature of a person, thus making him seem "weak"

I just think that's what happens when u consume media on a superficial basis. You think Patrick Bateman is cool, you think dean Winchester is perfect.

In my mind Needy feels really guilty about letting Jennifer go with that band into the truck. When Jen comes back she's "different" in the way all assault survivors are. Needy cleaning up the black liquid was her guilt (lady Macbeth ref?). Anyway, Jennifer goes on a "killing spree" (an analogy for her whoring around because it's what makes her feel like she has control over her body) and even tries to seduce needys boyfriend (I forget his name). That's when needy's hallucinations just go haywire and she murders Jennifer to get rid of the guilt. The necklace breaking meant the illusion slipped and Jennifer became a normal, traumatized girl in needy's eyes. And that's the real reason needy is in that mental asylum.
