Hey musical theater nerds :) I'm auditioning for Annie the musical at the end of the month at a community theater I've never auditioned at before. I'm going for Lily St. Regis. Any audition song recs? Just a minute's worth of a song/32 bars. I'm an alto and struggling to find a song I am 100% comfortable with. I'm also caught between wanting to do something fun and peppy, and picking something slower because I don't want the accompanist to have to sight read something crazy fast. Here are some of the songs I've been trying out or thinking of so far:
Right Hand Man from Something Rotten
Not for the Life of Me from Thoroughly Modern Millie (a little ambitious for me...not totally comfortable with it. Starting with "Burn the bridge, bet the store")
Screw Loose from Cry Baby
How 'Bout a Dance from Bonnie and Clyde (haven't tried it yet)
There are Worse Things I Could Do from Grease (haven't tried it yet)
EDIT: I've decided on If My Friends Could See me Now from Sweet Charity. I think it's the perfect vibe and it doesn't feel too risky. I'd still appreciate tips and/or song recs for future auditions! Just getting back into the world of musical theater after a long hiatus.
