Beautiful things grow out of shit. Nobody ever believes that. Everyone thinks that Beethoven had his string quartets completely in his head—they somehow appeared there and formed in his head—and all he had to do was write them down and they would be manifest to the world. But what I think is so interesting, and would really be a lesson that everybody should learn, is that things come out of nothing. Things evolve out of nothing. You know, the tiniest seed in the right situation turns into the most beautiful forest. And then the most promising seed in the wrong situation turns into nothing. I think this would be important for people to understand, because it gives people confidence in their own lives to know that’s how things work. If you walk around with the idea that there are some people who are so gifted—they have these wonderful things in their head but and you’re not one of them, you’re just sort of a normal person, you could never do anything like that—then you live a different kind of life. You could have another kind of life where you could say, well, I know that things come from nothing very much, start from unpromising beginnings, and I’m an unpromising beginning, and I could start something.

the notebook problem: you see a notebook. you want to buy the notebook. but you know you have like TEN OTHER NOTEBOOKS. most which are STILL EMPTY. you don’t need to notebook. you’re probably not gonna use the notebook anyway. what’s the point? DONT BUY THE NOTEBOOK. you buy the notebook.
people who tell me i shouldn’t drink lava: the media
people who lie: the media
conclusion: i am going to drink lava
I am a geologist with no association to the media and I would not recommend drinking lava
Get a load of Big Geology trying to oppress the voice of the people. Teach the controversy. Drink the lava.
Lava doesn't melt steel beams.
now change ‘heterosexual’ to ‘adam sandler’ and this post becomes pretty sandlerphobic doesnt it
The bad days are back. The night is black and I'm wide awake. For the sake of a clear mind I hide behind Computer screens and electric nodes. Told you I'd be back. It was only a matter of time. Before darkness. Consumed me.
I lost my shit at self-governing snakes.

I don't know if you guys can read or pay attention so I've repeated several of the jokes in case you missed them the first time round.
The Cheapest Generation: Why Aren’t Millennials Buying Cars or Houses?
What if Millennials’ aversion to car-buying isn’t a temporary side effect of the recession, but part of a permanent generational shift in tastes and spending habits? It’s a question that applies not only to cars, but to several other traditional categories of big spending—most notably, housing. And its answer has large implications for the future shape of the economy—and for the speed of recovery.

It’s safe to say that a decent number of Tumblr users are a part of the Millennial generation. So, tell us: Do you own a car or house? If not, why?
IT’S BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO DISPOSABLE INCOME YOU THUNDERING IDIOTS. Fucking preference has nothing to do with it. 50% of college graduates have no job! They all have the most student loan debt ever! What are you asking this question for?!
Also: housing is a good bit more expensive now.
My parents got a 15-year mortgage on a new house in the mid-70s. The house was $32,000. Average home price in that area now? $190,000.
So, home prices went up. Food prices went up. Health care prices went WAY UP. Rent prices went up. Higher education went up so damn high that some of us forgo that all together. Energy prices went up. Car prices went up.
Prices of prices went up.
We also pay cell phone bills, internet bills, data plans, text plans, online subscriptions, cable/satellite tv, netflix, DVR subscriptions — bills that didn’t even exist 30-40 years ago. We also use computers and smartphones and microwaves and other consumer electronics that didn’t exist 20-50 years ago.
We need medications and doctors and contact lenses and tampons and maxi pads and other things that cost money just to be alive and keep us healthy.
Most of us can’t afford to:
Get married and have a “Traditional” big wedding
Buy a house
Buy a new car
PLAN to have children
Take two, consecutive weeks of vacation.
Jobs that paid 50k in the late 1990s now pay between 30-35. Interest rates that favor consumers have gone down.
So I say, no. We are not choosing not to buy homes. We’re not choosing to take the bus in cities where there’s no good public transit. WE ARE NOT CHOOSING TO LIVE WHAT SOCIETY DEEMS AS AN UNDESIRABLE LIFESTYLE.
Don’t even get me started on the fact that these two people in the picture are young white hipsters. Young lack and brown folks have been forgoing homeownership and buying new cars for decades, this shit isn’t new, pal. You’re just acting like this shit is new because it’s hitting white folks.
anyway, my point is: We are fucking broke.
Got nothing better to do and watching sg1 pilot. Kawasaky was such s good character. Bounced off O'Neil perfectly. Wish they hadn't killed him off and he could have been a recurring character. Would def had made the existence of other sg teams more noticeable. Him and jack together are hilarious. Especially in their back and forth at the start of the second episode.

1. Always have a water bottle in your car 2. Carry an extra lighter (even if you don’t smoke) 3. Get something new where you go to eat often, not just your usual. 4. Make a budget for yourself 5. But don’t forget to give yourself some play money and always round up on how much things cost so you have money left over 6. If you’re texting someone, but nervous to send it, just click the fucking send button. You typed that shit out for a reason. 7. Stay out late, but wake up early. You’ll be glad you had all of your day. 8. If something makes you laugh until your sides hurt, write it down in the notes in your phone, you’ll want to remember that later. 9. When you’re talking to someone, and you suddenly think of something you want to say, put up a finger and wait for them to finish talking. It’ll help you remember what you wanted to say, but you won’t interrupt them. 10. Go to plenty of concerts. Especially outdoor ones. Get drunk with your friends, but not sloppy drunk. Just drunk enough to scream your favorite songs and dance without feeling embarrassed. 12. Always keep a change of clothes in your car. Including a pair of shoes. You never know. 13. Keep at least $20 cash on you at all times. Gas is usually cheaper when you pay with cash, and not everywhere you go to eat splits checks. 14. It’s okay to be sad, but try not to forget about what makes you happy. 15. Coupons are always fantastic. 16. If you think something is cute, fucking wear it. Don’t worry about what everyone else thinks. You’ll look great, I promise. 17. Sex stores are fun, even if you just want a good laugh. 18. Plan out your days off with your friends, that way you aren’t stuck around asking the “I don’t know what do you wanna do” 19. Don’t forget to remind your friends how much they mean to you. 20. If someone gives you a compliment, smile and say thank you. They wouldn’t say it, if they didn’t mean it. 21. Drink plenty of water. Not only does it keep you hydrated, but clears your skin. 22. I know you might want to be tan, but is it really worth being burnt and exposing yourself to all that skin cancer bull shit? No. Use at least SPF 15. It’s not that hard and you’ll still tan. So stop being a brat. 23. You’re allowed to be happy. Don’t ever let anyone tell you otherwise. 24. Aim to be better, not bitter. 25. Some days are better than others. 26. You can never over pack. Pack what you want. You’ll be glad you have options to choose from. 27. Take those extra hours at work. It’ll be worth it when you see your paycheck. 28. Clean your fucking room and make your bed you slob. It’ll look so much nicer and you’ll feel better you did it. 29. If you have to, make the first move. It’s scary, but someone has to do it. 30. Take plenty of pictures. Of the sunset, your food, your friends, your dog, selfies. Everything. That way, later when you scroll through your camera roll, you’ll remember everything about that day, good or bad.

Dope as fuck
Hating Kanye and Kim is boring and unoriginal. Fuck that. I'm too cool to hate Kim. Kim fucking rocks.
I'm not a very good person. I don't mean I'm evil, I'm just not very good at being human.
