after finding out about the entity and their little moment during the bus ride, we see ryan leading naim to the bathroom at school and naim doesn’t follow him because he has has always thought ryan does not like to speak to him or give him attention at school. naim concluded that it was the entity. but we find out later that IT WAS IN FACT RYAN and he may have thought naim came in with him.

ryan was now ready to give him the attention in a public space, around people that may forsake them. ryan treated that bus ride like an acceptance ritual, like an assurance that they do in fact like each other so he can now pursue naim however he or naim wanted. all this just to be attacked by the entity again.

thinking about arlene cleaning up and soothing naim after his ritual, being so tender and gentle with him in the aftermath, as if that would ever make up for what she put him through

the way she's so gentle and kind afterwards (trying to get naim to eat at hunter's funeral, coaxing him like a child, "i took the olives off the pizza for you") but gradually starts to realise that naim isn't becoming "normal" and starts to lose her patience with him (being short and snappy with him, accusing him of lying, "move your stuff out of my room")
