Apparently I need a shirt that says, “I am not your fucking senpai…”
idk about you but i frequently give all my friends who are girls shirts that say “you’re on my to do list” and it’s totally not gay bc we are gal pals
harold…
secret’s out: victoria is a lesbian
the “gal pals” part of this post is funny b/c they literally used bae in the ad, like they weren’t going for subtle they’re telling you this is gay
#also ‘good days start with the bae’ and the ‘you’re on my to-do list’ combination… #they literally woke up together … wearing only those shirts #like there’s not even a heterosexual interpretation here this has ZERO STRAIGHT SUBTEXT IT IS 100% GAY #grade A pasteurized homo (via @thecuckoohaslanded)
you think men can't be raped? sorry but i have to block you
I just went through my recent posts to figure out when I gave that impression, and found nothing. Can someone point it out to me? As a male rape survivor, I can assure you I know damn well men can be raped, and I'd hate to imply otherwise because I reblogged something without reading it carefully enough...
17% of cardiac surgeons are women, 17% of tenured professors are women. It just goes on and on. And isn’t that strange that that’s also the percentage of women in crowd scenes in movies? What if we’re actually training people to see that ratio as normal so that when you’re an adult, you don’t notice? …We just heard a fascinating and disturbing study where they looked at the ratio of men and women in groups. And they found that if there’s 17% women, the men in the group think it’s 50-50. And if there’s 33% women, the men perceive that as there being more women in the room than men.

There’s a study that showed that in a mixed-gender discussion, if women talk more than 10% of the time, men perceive them as dominating the conversation.

The Pugmire Kickstarter is now live!
Be a Good Dog. Protect Your Home. Be Loyal To Those Who Are True. These are the words of the Code of Man. Dogs have inherited the world, building the kingdom of Pugmire thousands of years after the Ages of Man. These dogs have been changed to use tools and language, and they (along with other races of uplifted animals) seek to rediscover the world they’ve inherited. Some dogs use the leftover technology of humanity, but they believe it all to be magic handed to them by their dead gods. Others seek to create an ideal civilization, using a Code of Man compiled from ancient, fragmentary lore. The world is dangerous and mysterious, but courageous and loyal dogs will persevere.
Now you can contribute to help us create a beautifully illustrated, traditionally printed version of Pugmire for sale in stores. We’ve got lots of fantastic stretch goals ahead! Will you be a good dog and join us?
I HAVE A MIGHTY NEED
Poverty and oppression make people fatter
A common fat-phobic belief is that fat people are fat because they overeat. A recent submission to @facebooksexism perfectly illustrates this stereotype and the harmful classist attitudes it perpetuates:
Like most fat-phobic beliefs, this stereotype is completely wrong.
It is well accepted in public health science that food insecurity – which is the lack of consistent, dependable access to enough food for active, healthy living – predicts higher body weight.
Some reasons for this association include:
Limited resources and lack of access to nutritious, affordable foods. Heavily processed, low-nutrition foods are usually cheaper, but are more calorie dense and less satisfying to eat.
Cycles of food deprivation and overeating. Low income people often run out of money for necessities like food before their next paycheck arrives, resulting in extended periods of hunger and starvation followed by periods of compensatory eating when the paycheck arrives. Such eating patterns cause weight gain over time.
High levels of stress, anxiety, & depression, all of which cause physiological changes resulting in weight gain over time.
Limited access to health care. Many chronic health conditions, like polycystic ovarian syndrome, thyroid dysfunction, and type II diabetes, cause weight gain when left untreated.
All of this means that systematic oppression causes people to be fat for reasons that are outside of their personal control, and that poor fat people are not lying when they report that they cannot afford to put food on the table. Stop spreading the harmful, oppressive, and fat-phobic belief that you can judge a person’s nutrition or eating habits by the size of their body.

SU shows time and time again steven never truly stops believing in gems and helps them to the best of his ability
and yet when there’s a mention of a jasper redemption everyone shuffles their god damn feet. literally if steven could forgive peridot (who tried to kill him and the CG) many times, i think he can forgive her for decking him in the face once
(Unwanted two cents) I’m pretty much counting on Steven’s good nature being the thing that kicks off Jasper’s redemption arc. He might be a little miffed about they way she treated him and his friends, maybe even scared of her, but his belief that people and Gems are good is going to win out.
For him to do anything else would derail his character and the message of the show.
ok To Be Fair steven has a viewpoint of “must not fight!” and then jasper decks him and he’s like LAPIS WE MUST FIGHT
so it’s understandable that everyone shuffles their feet a bit when they talk about jasper
plus, peridot was an asshole but she never really seemed threatening beyond “saturday morning cartoon villain”. jasper seems like she could pose an actual threat to the gems, but then again so does lapis (hell she WAS a threat to the gems and the entire earth, steven just convinced her not to fuck everyone up)
a jasper redemption arc is inevitable nonetheless. peridot was the most loyal to homeworld and she was converted in like a month or two. lapis hates everyone, and jasper is more about punching rose quartz in the face than serving homeworld. converting lapis and jasper will be peanuts in comparison.
also i apologize for riding this comment train unnecessarily.
I dunno. I mean, Peridot was loyal to homeworld, but that was the point. She wasn't evil; she was just doing what she had been bred to do and didn't see any other option. Once given one, she changed.
Lapis was scared and traumatized, having been mistreated by Gems on BOTH sides of the war. Given the possibility that people could actually respect and care for her, it makes sense that she could come around to protecting and caring for them in turn.
But Jasper? Jasper doesn't give a shit about homeworld's mission. She doesn't seem to care about Earth one way or the other. She just wants to FIGHT. And that makes her different from any other villain Steven has tried to redeem. Jasper will beat the shit out of other people with a smile on her face, not caring who gets hurt or why.
That's not saying she can't be redeemed, but I think it would be harder. It will probably involve her learning to fight FOR something other than just Combat. And it will be hard for Steven because as much as he wants to be a Crystal Gem, fighting is always the thing he's had the most trouble with. So someone who only wants to fight is going to be difficult for him to handle.

Gosh darn those polyamorous sluts. Cuddling and affectionately supporting each other. Practicing open communication and consent. Establishing their social and emotional wellbeing based on more than one romantic relationship. Existing in trusting, loving, safe relationships. Someone stop them.
In order to stop the culture of faking orgasms, we need to stop the culture of shaming others for their sexual experiences.
Can’t get your partner off on the first try? Cool. You can still be thoughtful and make them feel good.
Can get your partner off within 30 seconds? Awesome, good for you both, don’t let it get to your head.
Can make someone cum in less than 5, but for others, it’s a process that takes an hour? That’s alright, everyone’s different.
Does it take you 30 minutes to cum? That’s okay, you’re not broken, you’re not a failure.
Does it take you 10 seconds to cum? That’s great, you’re not a slut, you’re not overly sensitive or dirty.
Can’t cum without toys/vibrators? That’s awesome, that’s a valid part of sexual play!
Can only cum with loving, vanilla sex? That’s perfectly normal, and you will find lots of great partners to experience that with!
Can’t orgasm at all? THAT’S ALSO COOL. It’s not a bad thing, you can still enjoy sex TONNES just like others.
Orgasms are NOT the defining characteristic of your sexual prowess. They are great, they’re lovely when they happen, but for the love of science, stop bringing them up higher than they need to be.
what does “men who adhere to strict gender binary” even mean tho
NO ONE adheres to the gender binary! NO ONE FITS THEIR GENDER ROLE PERFECTLY! THAT’S THE POINT! AARRRGGH!

Nyreen Kandros for Ladies of Mass Effect: Rare Female Characters Week
I am torn by how I feel about Nyreen. On the one hand, she’s a badass lady who sticks to her morals and is a pretty good depiction of PTSD. On the other hand, waiting so long to show us female Turians says some… Bad things about Turian society. Until the ME3 DLC, I just assumed the Turian were like the Asari: they only present as one gender in the binary, using pronouns of that gender but also therefore establishing that the binary set up by the other species is dumb. There was a viral post by @prettyinpixiedust over a year ago that posited that dwarf men and women were indistinguishable from each other and they all just identified as men so that the sexist human society would treat them all equally. I felt like we were dealing with that in Turians. Who knows if the Turian you’re talking to has the possibility to spew out an offspring? WHO CARES? You still shouldn’t give that fucker an assault rifle or let her pilot a ship. Quit looking for the boobs on these people, you sick fuck. Just go on with the Krogan/Turian alliance talks already. But Nyreen made that impossible. And including her so late in the series sends a rather disturbing message. We’ve seen hundreds, possibly thousands of Turians at this point - mercs, shop owners, bartenders, police officers, and several platoons of the Turian military, and NOT ONCE have we seen women. It was fine not having seen Vorcha or Batarians in ME1, because the whole point of ME2 is you’re going to new places. But it’s possible to play all three games without ever seeing a Turian lady (IE: my first play through and where I developed the idea of Turians as dwarves). Which means that if you don’t pay money, one part of Turian society established by the DLC you didn’t buy doesn’t exist. And if you do, the only Turian woman who did anything worthwhile was Nyreen. And that’s no good, Bioware. Because then I also have to ask about female Volus, Elcor, Vorcha, and Batarians. I may be forgetting something because these were side species and we didn’t see as much of them but, seriously, you’re telling me that in this advanced Galaxy in the future, all of these species are still at the point where they lock there women away off-screen? What the hell kind of Universe did you give us, Bioware? I might just be rooting for the reapers now.
It’s an unreasonable hour of the night and I can’t sleep so it’s time for another complaint about a minor annoyance that for some reason I feel strongly about, reflecting my deep-seated insecurity with my place socially and in the world in general. Sorry for not putting it under a cut, I’m on mobile.
Kinda boils down to I really dislike Media Discourse that exists mainly to define out-groups. Like I get that it’s fun to make fun of superwholock people or whatever, and there are valid reasons to be annoyed with the media itself or the fan culture, but like. Realistically that’s true for any piece of media, and are we really expecting people to keep up with this shit and be held responsible for whatever issues crop up with other fans or writers or actors or other people they have no control over. Do you personally want to live your life never talking about stuff you like unless you’re sure it’s already approved by your social circle. Like I get that criticism of media is important but, God damn, how much is the guilt of random strangers really required for that.
Mainly this is annoyance about A Certain Cartoon That Shall Not Be Named that I used to like back in high school, and how I see posts cropping up every few weeks just to remind me that it was a Bad Thing for me to ever have liked, because of some thing some goddamn asshole did that I wouldn’t have approved of then and don’t approve of now. I joke about how a lot of the things I used to like are Sin, but realistically I don’t actually feel like the things themselves were noticeably worse than things I like now, and the main reason I stopped was that they became unacceptable and not fun to talk about in my social group.
I’m annoyed at how many constraints I’ve put on myself and the things I watch and read and play because I’m worried about what people will think about me if I mention that I like them. And people I know have talked to me about similar stresses in their own lives, so it’s apparently not just my anxiety issues talking? And I can’t help but suspect that this narrowing of social boundaries is mainly testing for stuff that can be easily measured (how well people can leave their own preferences behind to adapt to quickly changing social rules) instead of the stuff it’s supposed to be altering (the negative influences of widespread power structures like sexism and so on.)
Last night I was watching Lost. It's one of my favorite shows. And while it bends some tropes to hell and back, there are a lot of problems, especially in the later seasons, with sexism, racism, and lazy, lazy writing. But it's still one of my favorite shows because it captured my imagination. I still watch reruns because the characters still touch my heart. And if anyone wants to tell me I shouldn't like it because of _____, I will link them to my thesis paper for my English degree which points to the fact that, yes, there was a lot of terrible shit in that show. I know that, thanks. But there's still enough good for me to like it.
We can like problematic things. No one has the right to belittle us for that. But it is are responsibility as fans to admit that our faves are problematic. We have to recognize what is bad in our greatest loves and demand better. We must say to the writers, "Give me more deep characters but for the love of God stop using a woman's death to further a man's story.
There are people in this world who are good people but need to come around to issues of oppression. Now, it is certainly not the oppressed's job to teach these people, and anyone who says, " I won't have anything to do with that racist," is justified in saying so. And if someone questions me about my friendship with one, I can't just wave it off with, "He's a good guy." But I can say I am aware of his dangerous qualities and am attempting to educate him on his problematic nature through our friendship. After all, I'd still be a racist, sexist shitbag without even knowing it if no one had liked me for my other qualities and tried to accentuate those. Does that mean anyone who avoided me for my rape jokes and casual bigotry was wrong? Fuck no. But they shouldn't shit on anyone who was trying to help me either.
And that's what we do to fandoms. We assume that because someone likes Game of Thrones, they are okay with rape culture. We say that if someone still likes Doctor Who, they are tacitly accepting Moffat's sexism. And this sort of binary thinking does NOTHING for discourse. We need to be able to have conversations where we identify the good AS WELL AS the bad so that we, as a society, can demand more of what is good from the makers of media while having established, as a group, what needs to go away. And if you can't watch Game of Thrones or Doctor Who or Supernatural (fun fact, I won't watch any of those), you are within your rights to explain why and no one should judge you negatively for that. But unless the SuperWhoLockian is giving you shit for your dislike due to issues, do you really have a right to shit over them as well? You can stop being friends if the offense is that great, but we can have these divides without shitting on individual people. We should be banding together to demand more from the creators, not fighting amongst ourselves.
This has been a rant.
The Creation of the Setites
White Wolf writer 1, in the distant past of the 1990s: I've got an idea for a new clan in Vampire.
White Wolf writer 2: Sure, let's hear it!
Writer 1: I want to throw a curveball at the setting; instead of being Biblical in origin, these guys are from Ancient Egypt.
Writer 2: That's awesome!
Writer 1: They worship Set and they hate the sun and they have cool snake powers.
Writer 2: But I thought Apep was the serpent who tried to devour the sun every night in Egyptian mythology?
Writer 1: Snake powers.
Writer 2: Why not just rename them 'The Followers of Apep?'
Writer 1: I like the old name better. And it's already gone to print anyway.
Writer 2: Do you know anything about Egyptian myth?
Writer 1: I read a Conan story once.
Writer 2: Jesus fucking Christ.
Writer 1: I'm not changing it.
Writer 2: Fine. What the hell do these guys even do?
Writer 1: They're vampire drug dealers or something, I don't know.
Writer 2: WHY?
Writer 1: Because corruption is dark and edgy, man. The teens eat that shit up.
Writer 2: Neither Set or Apep have corruption anywhere in their myths!
Writer 1: Snake powers.
You tell ‘em, Steven.
