I just can't believe 17776 is a thing that exists. Like I'm so glad enough people at sbnation heard that pitch and thought, "yeah, why shouldn't we as a sports blog publish multimedia speculative fiction that our current website can't even fully support yet in order to philosophize about what it means to be human and alive, do your thing Jon!" And then we get to cry about football for the first time in our lives.
(this is your sign to go to sbnation.com/a/17776-football and read it if you needed one. If you've heard of it and thought "well I'm not a sports person, that's not for me", it really might actually still be for you! You don't need to know anything about football! Or sports! Just about wanting to be a part of something bigger than yourself, and wanting to have fun with that.)
I know Star Trek is its own thing with its own history and lore but I do love to think of it as this ever-evolving post-historic fiction.
Like imagine the characters reminiscing on the feats done by the Artemis II crew and comparing it to what they’ve accomplished in their future (as writers, our hopes for the future) or comparing things like “Artemis II was the first mission to have a dedicated "Science Officer" console in the main Flight Control Room… they hadn’t even found the space for them on board yet haha” etc etc
Speaking of, happy splashdown day! They’re reviewing the old livestreams for science and fun purposes
.How long has it been like this?
.On April 7th, 2026, people stopped being born. On the same day, people stopped dying, and people stopped aging.
.ham cheese. ham cracker. cheese cracker. ham and cheese cracker. ham and cheese

My emotions about space travel, and the history of, are strong today.
Things you can do to celebrate Captain Kirk's birthday this weekend:
Drive a car really badly
Break a rule at work you disagree with
Fall madly in love with your science officer
Challenge someone to chess
Yell your nemesis' name really loud and dramatically
Call your vehicle / mode of transportation a beautiful lady and tell folks that you love her
Fight someone like this:
I asked my lawyer if I could make that joke and he said, “let me call another lawyer”, and that lawyer said yes.
