Due to my weird childhood and my weird brain, I have this very unhelpful compulsion to conceal Everything I do from Everyone. I Cannot be observed performing any action, no matter how mundane. My nervous system is convinced I'm gonna, like, Get In Trouble for eating food at dinnertime or sleeping in my bed at bedtime.
I've taken to asking myself, "Okay does this task actually require subterfuge or am I stealing a balloon on Free Balloon Day"
oh my goodness, one of dian fossey’s first close up observations with gorillas happened when she was trying to climb a tree to see them better, but so badly that by the time she’d gotten up the entire group had come out of hiding to look at her: “Nearly all members of the group had totally exposed themselves, forgetting about hiding coyly behind foliage screens because it was obvious to them that the observer had been distracted by tree-climbing problems, an activity they could understand.”
[Image transcript: porch. The group had been day-nesting and sunbathing when I contacted them, but upon my approach they nervously retreated to obscure themselves behind thick foliage. Frustrated but determined to see them better, I decided to climb a tree, not one of my better talents. The tree was particularly slithery and, try as I might, no amount of puffing, pulling, gripping, or clawing succeeded in getting me more than a few feet aboveground. Disgustedly, I was about to give up when Sanwekwe came to my aid by giving one mighty boost to my protruding rump; tears were running from his eyes as he was convulsed in silent laughter. I felt as inept as a baby taking its first step. Finally able to grab on to a conveniently placed branch, I hauled myself up into a respectful semislouch position in the tree about twenty feet from the ground. By this time I naturally assumed that the combined noises of panting, cursing, and branch-breaking made during the initial climbing attempts must have frightened the group on to the next mountain. I was amazed to look around and find that the entire group had returned and were sitting like front row spectators at a sideshow. All that was needed to make the image complete were a few gorilla-sized bags of popcorn and some cotton candy! This was the first live audience I had ever had in my life and certainly the least expected.]
imagine some freakish not-a-human alien THING has shown up out of nowhere and is trying to get into your office building to study you. but it has no idea how to get past a revolving door. it tries for three hours. by the time it finally understands the concept of a revolving door and squeeze into the building everyone in the office is crowded into the lobby to watch and call helpful suggestions. it’s conclusively determined that the alien is definitely not a threat, except maybe to itself.
We, (Najwa, Jana, Farah, and Maryam), are the sisters of Shaheed Khalid Saed Ash-Shawwah, who was martyred on 07/31/24 along with Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail Al-Ghoul and his colleague, photographer Rami Al-Rifi . Khalid was our older and only brother and he was a great support for us and others. As you may heard Khalid’s story in the news, he was bombed while he was riding his bicycle coming back from delivering food to our old and injured neighbors.
Before the IDF forces killed our brother Khalid, they forced us to evacuate our house and left everything behind. They then destroyed our house and our father’s restaurant. We had to move at least 10 times since every new area we seek refuge to gets bombed.
Currently, the 4 of us and our parents, are living devastating and sad life in a bombed room in Gaza. It is extremely difficult for us to get the basic needs of food, water, and shelter.
We sincerely hope you can empathize with our dire situation and consider supporting us. We are raising funds in order to be able to pay the rising cost of basic necessities in north Gaza. Our family is large and the cost of survival in north Gaza is astronomical. If you have anything you can spare, we implore you to support us. From where you are right now, you personally can help save our lives in north Gaza.
Please donate and/or replog 🥺🙏🇵🇸
Hello Dear,
We, (Najwa, Jana, Farah, and Maryam), the sisters of Shahe… Nesma Khazendar needs your support for Help Khalid Sisters in Gaza
Please reblog our post, follow us @khalid-Sisters and boost our posts, and repost the link to our campaign across all your social media.
Your generosity has the power to make a significant difference, and will give us hope that there will a better future waiting for us once the war stops.
We ask God to bless you and your families and to protect you all from all calamities and to never make you feel or go through what we are going through.
An old boss of mine was in the Navy, and as always they haze the new guy. Told him to go get a bucket of checkered paint from the quartermaster (I think it was; any mistakes in nomenclature are mine, not his).
The QM, tired of the nonsense, actually made one. He put a grid of cardboard in a bucket and carefully filled it with alternating paints, then removed the grid, leaving a bucket of black and white checkered paint.
The duality of man is thinking “children cannot help themselves and we all need to be patient with them as they explore what it means to be human in public” and also “damn, I wish this crying baby was not on the plane rn :/“
Just as courage is not the absence of fear but doing the brave thing in spite of it, patience is not the absence of irritation but doing the kind thing in spite of it.
Animation has always seemed really intimidating and scary to me but I finally decided to give it a try! I’ve done a few gifs and pixel sprites before but nothing this elaborate. It’s definitely not perfect but I’m really proud of it and excited for more practice!
It took over 40 hours 😭 definitely more than that but I worked on so many canvases it was hard to keep track of it all. Hopefully it takes less time once I’ve got more experience because I’m still wiped out
Please, please, please have a look at this fundraiser. It is extremely low on funds, and it would be great if we could help out!
Khadija Al-Habil (@girlquee) and Yousef Al-Habil (@saveyouseffamily) are a lovely couple who truly love and care for each other.
They also have the cutest baby named Majd! He is their pride and joy. Like any loving parent, they will do everything to keep him happy, healthy, and safe. (I would protect him, too, even though I'm not a parent! 🥺)
Unfortunately, while the airstrikes have destroyed their home and everything they love, Majd suffers the most. Not only his initial exposure to the world is the constant fear and horror, but he is chronically ill with a severe respiratory illness (AND he recently got an eye infection from a bug bite!)
Khadija and Yousef have shared the latest update, as well: Majd has a chest infection, and he is currently in the hospital in the due to the lack of oxygen. The poor baby has to use an oxygen tank. But this is only a temporary solution. Khadija, Majd, and Yousef need to evacuate NOW!
The air is NOT safe for Majd and his tiny lungs!
I am not going to ask anymore. I DEMAND you to donate. Even as little as £5 can help this beautiful family. You may think it is not enough, but trust me, it is enough. I have contributed £5, too!
Khadija and Yousef would also be happy with it! It is BETTER than nothing. If you are unable to donate, then reblog and share. Spread it far and wide. Make it like wildfire. It is the least you can do. You owe them (and the people of Palestine) this much.
UPDATE (08/11/2024): Khadija and Yousef cancels their fundraiser and creates a new one as the one linked below. It is under a new currency from Pounds to Euros. Please show them your support! As of writing this, €414 out of €20,000 has been raised. Give what you can and boost!
*Introduction:*
Hello everyone,
I'm Youssef Al-Habeel. Prior to the conflict, … Yousef Alhabeel needs your support for Save the life of
I have mentioned this yesterday, but I will say it again! Khadija and Yousef has created a new fundraiser. It is under a new currency. It is now in Euros than Pounds. Please show them your support! They have raised almost 10K before, but it is gone now, and they would have to start from scratch.
Baby Majd is still in the hospital when I have spoken to Khadija yesterday. They need to evacuate as soon as possible so he could have access to proper medical care!
As of writing this, €414 out of €20,000 has been raised. Give what you can. Share their story.
I also urge you to follow Khadija (@girlquee) and Yousef (@saveyouseffamily) to receive updates about them and Baby Majd.
Do not forget to reblog and share! Spread their story far and wide. It will give their fundraiser the much needed exposure.
really think mcu infinity war lost something when they decided to make thanos a malthusian ecofascist instead of a pathetic man desperate to fuck a skeleton who doesn't wanna fuck him back
It still infuriates me that his ENTIRE PLAN was to set the clock back 50 years. That's it. The world pop in 2018, when he snapped was 7.7bil. In 1972 it was half of that, at 3.8bil. Which means... HE SPENT HIS ENTIRE LIFE TO RESET 46 GODDAMNED YEARS!!!
Not to even mention that any mass casualty even will cause a boom afterwards. *coughbabyboomers* So not only did he BARELY DO ANYTHING, but in any sort of long run, he made things significantly WORSE.
It was such a poorly thought out and ineffective plan that he just seemed like a Saturday morning cartoon level villain. And not even a main villain. Like a silly butt of the joke one. I couldn't even see him as scary. Strong? Sure, I guess, but like in a muscle head can't-really-take-him-seriously way. As the audiance I honestly felt insulted (in several ways) by the last two films.
(Also, was I the only one who thought his new "backstory" was basically a ripoff of "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson?)
