don’t care + didn’t ask + blood of akasha in me
I completely get Why this happens but I quite dislike this trend that happens in fan spaces sometimes where fans hold each other to much higher standards of queer representation than they do their source material. a classic example of this is when a writer or actor or other production member gives an offhand comment in an interview about thinking a character is x identity when it's never brought up in the text or is even mildly contradicted by the text a few times, and then fans turn around and deploy that piece of interview to say This Character Is Canonically X This Is #Representation How Dare You Ever Say They're Otherwise. this particularly bugs me as an ace person in regards to ace characters because there are now actually a good handful of textually asexual characters in fandom-popular media who go the whole nine yards, they explicitly say they're asexual or don't feel sexual attraction or voluntarily don't have sex because they don't wanna, if you want a character who is unmistakably asexual you can just find one and put them in your pocket, you don't have to pretend that word of god pseudo-canon asexuality is Good Representation and try (and invariably fail) to force other fans to play along. I just think it's unfair to accuse fanworks of erasure of identities that aren't even in the source text in the first place.
so we just never dealt with the master in the tooth then he just went there and is just there now
and the winner of superwholock is officially??? no one. we all lost. congrats team
I try not to fall into the "I never liked their work anyway" ditch when an artist/creator reveals themself to be a terrible person
BUT
a feeling I do have and will stand by is "While I enjoyed their work overall I did have some gripes that I overlooked out of affection and whimsy, but now that my loyalty is gone and my affection tainted there is nothing holding me back from enumerating my many grievances, to which the revelations of the creator's shittiness may or may not provide a new and infuriating context."
#such a good summation of this actually#because yeah there’s usually things that were always present#but which were easy to overlook or give the benefit of the doubt#that suddenly become relevant after a revelation about the creator#and it’s really not the same thing as the self-defensive “’I never liked it anyway’

the gracerocky sex tape that earth receives in the beetles is not actually a sex tape as such it’s a blurry whiteboard half in frame in the back of a video log created on day 26 of chain making after they’ve both gone completely insane. most of the whiteboard is covered in absolutely incomprehensible handwritten equations save for a single clean patch in the bottom right corner which has a straight up xenonite dildo suckered to it. just like left there absentmindedly. this of course triggers perhaps the first galactically significant rpf speculation in history
#like people are on twitter being like can you freaks stop being culturally insensitive it’s probably like a really mundane eridian tool.#quote tweet you know who else is a mundane tool. you for entertaining any other possibility other than that rock getting it in.
hello the bbc can i interest you in a 70+ book series about the fifteenth doctor for a mature audience containing fan service torture and bisexuality? crucially these books must cost £4.99 each and make you no money whatsoever

I have no damn idea why everyone on here is shaking their head disapprovingly about Lestat & that other guy misgendering the they/them vampire...I'm fully hooting and hollering about it! TWO new character roles (Russ and Dee) specifically for nonbinary actors (Elise Bauman and Amaka Umeh)??? and that was an entirely accurate depiction of how the general public dismisses nonbinary identities entirely and even the queer people who are polite to your face about it don't actually take you seriously. I think it's pretty clear that the show is trying to open up the space that will allow them to deal with the unhinged Queen of the Damned gendercide plot (and possibly, in my wildest dreams, also tackle Gabi's complex role as an emotionally neglectful parent who both experiences and perpetuates sexual violence while embodying Anne Rice's favorite crossdressing-as-escape-from-social-misogyny trope) without throwing transgender people completely under the bus. I don't know if they'll actually pull it off, but this is exactly the kind of thing I would expect them to do if they were thinking about these issues on purpose. the first two seasons featured homophobia and racism so heavily they were practically their own characters, so I think it would be a genuinely bizarre choice not to depict transphobia in The Gender Issues Season...
Ideologically I disagree with humanoid rocky but it IS fun when people just draw him as James Ortiz. Thinly veiled puppeteer rpf is a noble calling.
