Q & A with Sara Mudiay
Sara Mudiay is an e-board member of an NPO called soeur, lėve toi, run by congolese girls world wide for girls in the DRC. It serves to encourage the Congolese youth to unite and show solidarity for the advancement of DR. Congo.
Q : What inspired you to join the soeur, lėve toi team and what does the organisation mean to you?
A : What inspired me to join the team was first of all the idea of women who are not particularly friends or know each other joining forces to do something positive. Also the organisation matched my own personal vision concerning the empowerment and positive influence for young girls. As for now it has become like a family where I enjoy what Im doing in good and bad times.
Q : How do you stay inspired to make a difference in your country ( Republic Democratic of Congo ) ?
A : I stay inspired to make a difference by looking at all the potential the country has and also its people. There is no way God has blessed our country with so many resources for us to just sit and look others enjoy it. Everyday we have to work towards making things go forward.
Q : In your time away from Congo for educational purposes, what have you learnt from your current location that you would like to bring back home?
A : I would say my time away from DR Congo has helped me grow in many different ways. Only the fact of being able to see different cultures, different ways of doing things helped me enlarge my vision, see things from different perspectives and not only the one we have back home. Being able to do that gives more room for solutions where there are problems. My education is definitely one of the greatest asset i will bring back as I have been able to see how they make things work in other countries and what helps for development.
Q : What is the best and worst advice you have ever received?
A : The best advice I received was from my father who told me once the lyrics of a song that says when the going gets tough the tough gets going. It just for me represents what life really is about. In our journey to become who we are supposed to be things will not always be easy, so its important for anyone, regardless of what we are doing to keep pushing until we get where we want to be. The worst advice is not something I received personally but it is the idea of you only live once. It is understandable that u have to make the best of each moment however because we have only one life we have to live it right.
Q : kind words of encouragement to your fellow brothers and sisters that are also on the journey of making a difference in the world and specifically back home.
A: To all our brothers and sisters trying to make things better and putting their talents to the service of others, it is going to be a long journey, some day will be harder than others and we might even fail sometimes. But when we have a vision of what we want and where we want to be lets hold on to that and support each other.
