There once was a time that Komui had hated having to attend formal functions and had tried every means available to try and get out of them. After being a lecturer for a couple of years however, he had eventually learned to tolerate them. Now, he could even admit to enjoying some of them when he was afforded the opportunity to speak on his subject. It was the very best part!
People would think that it would be a walk in the park for university professors to present a talk on their own subject, considering they all did it often enough in front of a full lecture hall of students, but this was not actually the case. Komui had soon learned that there was a fine art to speech delivery. It was important to remember that the people in attendance were not necessarily knowledgeable about science so in order to stimulate their interest, the talk had to be relatable, easy to understand and entertaining. He absolutely loved the challenge it presented.
Oakville University had one such function marked on the calendar in the upcoming week and Komui had been asked to attend as well as share a few words. While the scientist was sure he had compiled a satisfactory speech there was however one minor problem which had him baulking at having to attend…
How on earth could they forbid me to come in a lab coat…
His choice of attire hadn’t mattered at any of the previous functions he had attended and he was certain that it wouldn’t hurt anybody if he chose to wear his customary lab coat at this one. He unfortunately did not have much choice in the matter, for not only had he been requested to wear a formal suit and tie but he had received a warning that his lab coat would be confiscated for the evening if he did pitch up with it.
Komui knew that he didn’t really have any clothing, suit or otherwise, that would satisfy the ‘formal’ criteria which meant that he would have to go shopping. He wished that Lenalee could have been around to help him select an appropriate suit but since she was not, the task fell to him alone.
Where did one even buy a suit anyway?
Not one to let a lack of knowledge impend on what had to be done, he asked around and finally learnt the name of a clothing store he would be able to obtain a suit… ASWEARE.
It did not take him long to locate the shop in question as it seemed quite popular to the public at large. Upon arriving, the scientist hesitated for a moment to regard the store through the windows, watching people wander in and others trailing out. At long last, he too made his way toward the entrance to commence the suit hunt.
The vastness of the store upon entering was by no means conveyed by the view from outside and Komui felt somewhat overwhelmed by the immensity. It seemed finding the suit section would be a mission in and of itself but before he could make any attempt at finding it himself, he was approached by a man who clearly worked at the store.
Trying not to sound too relieved at the prospect of being saved from aimlessly wandering around until he found what he was looking for, Komui offered his rescuer a grateful smile.
“Yes, thank you. I’m here to find a suit.”
The man that had entered the store was not one of their usual customers. Judging by the way he was looking around, Louis suspected that he was like many of their other first-time customers. The store itself could be a little overwhelming if one wasn’t used to these kinds of places.
But unlike the last customer Louis had finished helping, he seemed like a nice person. With a pleasant smile, Louis pressed a hand to his chin.
“We certainly have, a sizeable collection, of those. Do you know, what style and fit, you would prefer?”
As he was speaking, the stylist had already begun leading the other man with him further into the store. He eyed the clothes the man was wearing and the way he walked and stood. With his tall frame a skinny fitted suit might look good. Ah but there was also the occasion of what the suit was needed for that needed to be considered.
“My name is Louis, and I’ll be, doing my best to help, you find the, perfect suit.”
Mustn’t forget his introductions. Those are important to being friendly with customers. Though he supposed he never really had trouble with that since he was used to being amiable with patrons due to working at a salon for so long.
“May I ask, for what kind of occasion, this suit is needed for?”
