Most common primary tumor arising in the bone marrow of adults.
Lab & Blood Smear
Monoclonal Ig spike => IgG= 60%, IgA= 20%
High serum protein
Normal albumin
Rouleaux formation
Urine: Bence-Jones Protein (light chains casts)
Clinical Manifestations
Multiple lytics lesions due to OAF (Osteoclastic Activating Factor) => Bone Pain => Fractures
Hypercalcemia => Renal Failure
Complications: Infections, Primary Amyloidosis (AL chains), Myeloma Neprhosis, increased IL-6 (poor prognosis)
