Imagine the surreal insanity of being Irina Petrova and just hanging out having a hobby that you're very intense about and then you notice something weird and then all at once your name is one of the most uttered in history, by total accident. In the movie universe they describe her as a "radio telescope enthusiast" she does not even do this professionally. And suddenly everything is Petrova line, Petrova frequency, Petrova wavelength, Petrovascope, Petrova Task Force, Petrova problem. And you're like man. I have a day job.

… I think they might be stuck.
Fascinating how what's considered feminine and what's considered masculine can change over time. The rebranding of being a horse girl into being a stereotypical feminine girly trait needs to be studied.
Look at classic children's novels. As recently as the 50s and early 60s, being obsessed with horses as a girl was depicted as strange and tomboyish, and the very concept of being obsessed with horses from early childhood and loving toy horses and desperately wanting your own horse being a "little girl thing" and not a "little boy thing" would send someone from the 1800s and earlier into a coma.
There's maybe a point to be made here somewhere about how when keeping and riding horses stopped being necessary to the functioning of society and became a more "frivolous" thing, it was rapidly rebranded as silly and girly and for women, but what do I know.
i wrote a paper in my masculinity studies class in college about this exact phenomenon, specifically about how high heeled shoes started as a practical way for Persian cavalry to keep their feet on their stirrups, then likely due to that association, became a popular fashion item and status symbol among the upper classes of Europe, before the Great Male Renunciation of the 18th-19th centuries, when men started shunning opulence in favor of utility, leaving them as a fashion item for women instead.
I've joked that the two genders are Aesthetic and Utility before but thats just kinda the case
Seriously, that's exactly how I wrote and imagined their first encounters. The worst part is that Simon really was VERY out of it the first time he came to, so he doesn't remember saying that, and Grace would rather not bring it up.
eridian students: savior grace! what is savior rocky to you?
grace: he's the reason i wake up every morning :)
eridian students: aww!

rocky, banging on grace's door: GRACE WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP NOW
Once again feeling CRAZY and now I gotta talk about how Ryland Grace is my favorite kind of crybaby 😭. He’s the kind that runs away from his problems at first and FEELS so much and cries when he’s happy and sad and frustrated but he always does what he needs to do anyway 😭😭😭 like yes he will cry about it but he will also figure it out and get the job done. I also feel like his curiosity and his science brain is a LITTLE bit stronger than his self preservation 😭🫶. Enough that he’s freaking out but he’s poking it with a stick anyway
on the way home
is that a nothing in your pants or are you just normal to see me
so grace can feel comfortable and safe

Sorry about the picture quality, pen is so reflective of light and I don't want to see that glare, so low lighting it is. Traditional drawing using ballpoint pen and highlighters. Sketch undercut:

The Pax Silica initaitive is a joint plan involving the participants such as the UK, US, Israel, the EU to secure rare earth minerals for the silicon supply chain. This plan will involve opening up huge swaths of the island of Luzon to mining and special economic zones, displacing farming communities and threatening the food and water security of thousands.
Primer on the initiative from Philippine social movements:
To be clear, this is NOT a data center, this is rare earth metal extraction and manufacturing, particularly silicon. I'd actually argue that's worse because a single data center can cause a lot of harm but it can be shut down. Meanwhile, rare earth extraction could cause lasting damage including pollution of water, air and land, and habitat destruction.
The original signatories were Australia, Israel, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the UK and of course the United States. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pax_Silica
Currently the Wikipedia has a controversies page, though if that gets taken out it should still be in the edit history.
