On this day in 2004, Ronald Reagan lost his nearly ten-year battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.  President Reagan informed the nation of his condition in November of 1994. In a candid, handwritten letter he wrote:

“At the moment, I feel just fine… Unfortunately, as Alzheimer’s Disease progresses, the family often bears a heavy burden.  I only wish there was some way I could spare Nancy from the painful experience.”

In 1995, Ronald and Nancy Reagan established an institute dedicated to the study of Alzheimer’s Disease.

Ronald Reagan passed away at home in California at the age of 93.

Yes, that’s a huge part of what must be done BEFORE we take any other major steps. This should be a piece-by-piece approach in order to be fair to all Americans — and future Americans.

Heritage, can I put you down in favor of deporting six-year-olds? Because you know we deport six-year-olds, right? And I’m having a really hard time finding anybody who thinks that’s a good idea. I mean, I know, deep down, that it must be for Freedom and the American Way. It just seems so mean-spirited.

Also, could you help me come up with a polite way to tell the DREAMers to GTFO? Because using the F-word—even in an abbreviation isn’t a really dignified way to go about things. But I can’t figure out how we can support deporting them without, at least, using it implicitly.

But you’re right. We can’t compromise on this. Because this is about what it means to be an American. I’m an American because my parents were an American. And I’m proud of that accomplishment. But if other people start becoming Americans because they wanted so passionately to be Americans that they sacrificed everything to be here and prevailed, despite the odds? That makes my accomplishment look pretty measly. We can’t allow that.

Nothing says “limited government” like a giant border fence, armed guards, biometric identity cards, massive bureaucracy, and federal laws forcing private businesses to ask permission from the authorities before hiring a worker who wants a job.

Wait a second. "Limited government" doesn't mean making the federal government small and weak, it means that the federal government should be limited to carrying out the limited functions that it was designed for carrying out -- and at or near the top of that list is defending the borders. 

I have no patience for the whole "how dare you deport six-year-olds" harangue, above. I believe that the United States has a right to exist. As such, it has a right to determine an immigration policy that, first and foremost, benefits Americans. 

And another thing -- If we're going to talk about this issue on these terms, can the advocates of amnesty finally just call it amnesty and stop bullshitting us? Your "path to citizenship" isn't a path. It's a Candy Land chute. Automatic benefits with no penalties and very little waiting time is not a path. It's amnesty. And if you all want amnesty, fine --- stand up and have the guts to make the affirmative case for it and say what you mean. We know it's amnesty, you know it's amnesty, but the pro-amnesty side wants to call us bigots for calling it amnesty.

A Bad Relationship: How the Press Came To Love Obama More Than Itself

What would you think of a president under whom the IRS targeted his harshest political opponents, during his reelection campaign?

What would you think of a president whose obsession with leaks and secrecy was so great that he used the Justice Department to obtain phone records of reporters, in violation of Justice’s established procedure?

What would you think of a president whose head of the Department of Justice signed a criminal warrant against a leading journalist working for the news organization most critical of the president—and monitored the movements of the journalist and even went after his mother’s phone records?

What would you think of an administration that directed the president’s press secretary repeatedly to deliver false information concerning the death of an American ambassador?

These are not hypothetical questions—and yet there is an entire class of journalist so invested in a certain moral and ethical image of the president its members are unable to entertain facts that might tarnish that image. They are the pro-Obama equivalent of Birthers, never letting emerging facts cloud the conclusion they’ve already committed to hold.

Louisiana State Senator and state Democratic Party chair Karen Carter Peterson went on the Senate floor Tuesday and claimed that other legislators opposed Obamacare because the president is an African American.

She went on to say that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich had offered the “same thing” in the past, before backpedaling immediately and saying he had offered “similar legislation.”

PETERSON: It shouldn’t be about this administration at the state level, nor should it be about the federal administration when it comes to Obamacare, but in fact it is. And why is that? Why is that? I have talked to so many members, both in the House and the Senate, and you know what? You ready? What it comes down to? It’s not about how many federal dollars we can receive. It’s not about that. You ready? It’s about race. No, nobody wants to talk about that. It’s about the race of this African American president, because this same thing has been offered by former Speaker Newt Gingrich in the past. Yeah, he had a similar bill to what Obama, President Obama has offered. Similar legislation was offered. It comes down to the race of the President of the United States, which causes people to disconnect and step away from the substance of the bill.

"Nobody wants to talk about that" -- except the entire Leftie Internet. Except any two lefties picked at random and put into a room together. "Say, you know why those wingers don't like our ideas? Because they're racists."

"You ready? You ready?" Oh, please. You can see her practically glowing with self-righteousness. Are we ready? For what? When have the lefties ever missed an opportunity to say that conservatives are bigots -- ever? It's their all-purpose excuse for avoiding a substantive debate. If you spend thirty seconds describing to a liberal exactly what is wrong with Obamacare, they'll play the race card. They fully intend to drive us down the road to socialism and bankrupt the country just to prove their point.

The total number of people in the United States now receiving federal disability benefits hit a record 10,978,040 in May, up from 10,962,532 million in April, according to newly released data from the Social Security Administration.

The 10,978,040 disability beneficiaries in the United States now exceed the population of all but seven states. For example, there are more Americans collecting disability today than there are people living in Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey or Virginia.
