the study that concluded trans women on average make less than trans men only took into account full-time jobs, meaning it ignored data from trans people in part time jobs. trans men are more than *twice* as likely as trans women to have part-time jobs, which basically by definition pay less than full-time jobs. from this study (sample size 27,000+ usamerican transgender people) which does include part-time jobs, trans men [in the united states on average] make about 30% less than trans women, which is a PRETTY BIG NUMBER to fuck up on a reporting decision don'tcha think

"Racialised" is much better than PoC but I've been leaning a lot on the concept of racial markedness. Because that allows us to make statements like "the name Jamal is racially marked in USA". Rather than saying something like "Jamal is a PoC name", a nonsense statement, saying it's racially marked in USA allows us to contrast with societies like Albania or the Arab countries where the name Jamal is ordinary, thus unmarked.

It's a concept I've kind of imported from linguistic analysis; saying a speech pattern is more or less marked does not really allow us to avoid the subject of who's doing the marking. A statement like "womens' speech is more marked in Lakota" necessitates that we understand that it's the Lakota who are marking womens' speech. A foreigner can't tell the difference and probably doesn't understand why it would thus be weird to see a man using speech patterns associated with women, in the same way an Albanian wouldn't understand why USA people would think Jamal is a Black name.

Playing an atheist in D&D is fun as fuck actually because so many "pro-gods" arguments are literally the same as IRL ones and are so easy to refute, like --

"I saw a god, it talked to me" we live in a world where a level6 wizard could make themselves real glowy and talk with a big thunderous voice. Illusion magic exists. Telepathy exists. How do you know you saw anything else than good showmanship?

"What about divine magic?" so there's regular magic that anyone can learn and Special Magic for Special Boys that’s only given by a select few to a select few? Are you listening to yourself? Who benefits from you believing that? And if that were true, would you think it fair?

"But the gods take care of the planes!" Uh-huh so the planet can work on its own but sky forbid the sun rises and sets without help, is that it?

So on and so forth. Proving the existence of gods isn’t actually easier in DnD just because you say they exist!
