If you had shown me this site in 2005 I would have asked you if had checked your virus software lately, because this looks like a bad one. I would have clicked away so fast it would give you whiplash. Looking at these sites now, I have to convince myself that they aren't virus laden sites and fight against the pavlovian urge to just navigate away.
I navigate away anyways because fuck them, there's usually a better site (though they are dwindling quickly). I still can't get over how the internet "as intended" today looks like a malware ridden fever dream from 20 years ago. This is every story I've ever read about an empire that used to be great and has now fallen into turmoil.
Beloveds, there is a wonderful website that gets rid of all that crap<3

Well, if you are actually interested in understanding racism and how it ties into cultural appropriation, please read instead of endlessly badgering PoCs on tumblr with your cliched, unoriginal arguments and repeating the same questions over and over.

Quality megapost.
A white: but saying Asians are naturally smart is POSITIVE discrimination:)))
Me: The model minority myth was invented by whites as a tool of antiblackness to create divisions between communities of color and prove that ‘anyone can succeed in America if they just TRY hard enough!!1!’ thereby implying that antiblackness is black ppl’s own fault for not TRYING enough. Additionally, it relies on false interpretations of data and hurts the opportunities of all Asians, particularly less privileged ones, and dehumanizes Asians by furthering stereotypes of us as some kind of innately robot-like monolithic-minded hive, devalues our individual accomplishments and uses us as a tool to further antiblackness
i love this post
As a teacher, I can say with certainty that “smart” stereotypes are absolutely not positive for my Asian students. A few things I’ve heard repeatedly:
- Asian student gets the highest grade on a test; other students say, “Well, of course he/she got an A.” Any work the student did is minimized because it’s assumed perfect scores come naturally.
- Asian student is in a class for lower-performing students; other students question aloud whether he/she is really Asian and/or in the right class.
- Asian student gives a wrong answer in an advanced class; other Asian kids say, “You can’t be on our team anymore.” White kids say, “You’re one of us today.” Jokes ensue.
- Teachers complain that Asian students did poorly on district or state tests. Actual quote: “With a name like that, he should have brought up our class average.”
Those are just some of the most common comments, but there are many others. There is no way this stereotype is positive for these kids.
As an Asian,I can confirm that all those things listed above is something I’ve heard of or experienced way too many times despite my ability and capability to perform academically.
I have been making webcomics of this quality every day for over a year now
this website pisses me off, everyones always like “space is so cool!” not its not, space is bullshit and i hate everything about it, i genuinely just saw the phrase “a black hole with a mass two billion times the mass of the sun” im so pissed off, shut the fuck up, dont patronise me scientists you know i dont know what the fuck that means, my sad little brain cant comprehend the mass of one sun let alone two fucking billion, i cant even count past 10 without getting confused and youre out here talking about the mass of two billion fucking suns, shut the hell up. and dont even get me started about black holes or the expansion of the universe because thats another two seperate rants entierly. oh and apparently theres a planet made of ice except the ice is also on fire??? yeah sure fucking thing, scientists. and this is just the shit i know about. i purposely dont research space because it pisses me off so much, god knows what other fucking bullshit exists out there that ive yet to read a fucking wikipedia article about. i dont think space is real, literally everything about space is so fucking fake, this is just some elaborate fucking practicle joke. two billion times the mass of the sun, fuck you
Like, 90% of infomercial style products were designed by/for disabled people, but you wouldn’t know that, because there is no viable market for them. THey have to be marketted and sold to abled people just so that any money can be made of off them and so the people who actually need them will have access.
I think snuggies are the one example almost everyone knows. They were invented for wheelchair users (Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a coat on and off of someone in a wheelchair? Cause it’s PRETTY FUCKIN HARD.) But now everyone just acts like they’re some ~quirky, white people thing~ and not A PRODUCT DESIGNED TO MAKE PEOPLES DAY TO DAY LIVES 10000X EASIER.
But if at any point you were to take your head out of your own ass and go “Hey, who would a product like this benefit,” that would be really cool.
This makes informational make so much sense now.
Like… of course there’s no reason for that guy to knock over that bowl of chips. However, the person it was actually designed for has constant hand tremors that would make this pretty rad, but since we don’t want to show that in a commercial, here’s an able bodied guy who can’t remember how gravity works.
Shit. Those commercials suddenly get a lot less funny when you realize it’s pretty much just people ineptly trying to mimic disability.
Or like the thing for the eggs? Like, oh, it cracks eggs perfectly, you only need one hand? IT WAS DESIGNED FOR PEOPLE WHO ONLY HAVE THE USE OF ONE HAND. Or the juice bottle pourer? For people who’re TOO LAZY TO POUR THEIR OWN JUICE? Or FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE DIFFICULTY BEARING WEIGHT IN THE HANDS.
It’s amazing how with just a few words by a few people, my whole perspective on something can shift entirely.
I feel so ignorant for never having realized this before.
This is a matter very close to my heart. I have bipolar I disorder and ADHD as a result of bipolar. There aren’t many big posts about studying with mental illnesses so I figured I would compile a huge list of tips and posts! I’m going to be making a video about this very soon. I hope for all of you struggling that this can help or at least remind you that mental health is more important than school sometimes. Take care of yourself in any way you can. lets get started…
Studying with Mental Illness
Take things slowly. Don’t be afraid to take a week doing one assignment. Making sure that you can focus on assignments can be draining so breaking them down day by day can truly help you. Make a task list with each portion of an assignment mapped out so that you can see exactly what you need to do. I know that i get overwhelmed very easily and seeing smaller things is less daunting then having a list full of HUGE things like research papers and midterms. Seeing it as “write paragraph one” or “review unit one vocab” makes everything less scary.
Nothing has to be pretty. Notes don’t, papers don’t have to be perfect, study guides don’t need to be colorful and cute. What really matters is getting things done. My mom always tells me “even an F is better than a zero” which is so true. Turning things in late is not shameful because you are still turning it in. You still did it and that is something to be proud of.
Study somewhere other than your room or your house. Make sure there are people there. Surrounding yourself with others will allow you to feel less isolated and sometimes more motivated to do things. You can’t take naps when you’re at a Panera or Starbucks either. People can be motivating, they can remind you that you are not alone, they can hold you accountable for what you have to do. Get out of your bed where you can sit and stare at the wall and go to a coffee shop or the library where other people are doing work. This always helps me get on track.
Study in short bursts. Don’t wear yourself out with work. Find out when your concentration peaks and go with that. I usually work the best around 2pm so I have to make sure that I have eaten and showered before then so that I can capture that time to focus on my studies.
Don’t beat yourself up. Studying just takes a lot more effort other days when depression hits you the worst. There might be days when you can barely get yourself out of bed but know that you do have the ability to succeed and that depression just has to suck sometimes.
Get yourself out of bed. Shower. Change your clothes. Read a single page. Look at only one thing you have to do so you aren’t overwhelmed. That is something to be proud of and know that I am proud of what you did!
Study in a routine style. Let yourself have a routine that you can fall into. Try pomodoros or study games, Create a routine that you can stick to
If you don’t feel like doing anything… work for 5 minutes. You may feel more motivated or up, or you will at least be able to say that you have done something.
HYDRATE. I’m really awful at drinking a lot of water, but it helps so much with both anxiety and depression. Water keeps you moving and awake. SO drink that H2O guys

UPDATE: I’ve added quite a few new links!!!
The “REAL [parent]” trope
You know that trope where an adopted person finds out who their biological parent is, and the writer keeps using the term “REAL [parent]”? Yeah, it’s super gross, and I wish it would stop.
It devalues adopted parents, step parents, legal guardians, and parental figures, and puts all the emphasis on biology, which is a terrible message to give to non-biological parents, AND to their kids. It’s also a terrible message to give people who’s biological parents are terrible parents. It also often perpetuates the narrative that parents somehow own their children, when it’s used in scenarios where a parent gave up or lost custody of their child, and now wants custody back on no other basis than a biological “right” to the child.
The importance and value a parent has in a person (or character’s) life should be determined by the effect they have on their child, not genetics. A biological parent is not more “REAL” than any other type of parent, ESPECIALLY if they’ve been absent for much/most of the child/person’s life, and it’s genuinely awful to perpetuate the harmful narrative that they are.
it also makes those who gave kids up for adoption feel gross, for that perspective.
i had a kid when i was barely 18, living in my car. i gave her up for adoption because… barely 18, living in my car.
and every time someone finds out and comments that i’m her “real” mother, i feel so gross. i’m not her real mother??? her mother is her mother??? i’m a total stranger? i do not know this child, i’m not her “real” mother??
it’s horrible, and gross, and i hate it. i shouldn’t hold more weight than the people actually loving and caring for her, and damn do i wish that “real parent” bull would stop.
FUCKING THIS.
As an adopted child, I go out of my way to say “bio dad/mom” because I’ve only met my bio mom twice, neither of which I knew she was the person who gave birth to me (I was adopted within the family). My bio dad? No one even knows who he is.
I also really really wish that adoptive parents wouldn’t go out of their way to hide the fact that their kid is adopted. It’s always been such a foreign concept to me that adopted kids find this out only when they’re adults and go in search of their bio parents in the hopes of learning some huge revelation about themselves. I was told I was adopted ever since I could learn to read, and my parents gave me this cute illustrated children’s book called “why was I adopted?” and explained to me that yes, I am adopted, but I am still their child and they love me very much.
I was 12 when I asked my mom who my bio mom was, and she said “Oh it’s your Aunt Kathy” and I was just “oh. Okay.” That’s it. No big revelation, just that I was adopted inside the family and my adoptive dad is biologically my uncle.
More children should be raised like this, like adoption is a normal part of growing up. Making it a huge secret, waiting to tell them until they’re “old enough to handle it” (generally when they’re a teenager or older) is just making it harder on them. Trust me, children as young as five, maybe even younger, can understand the concept.
Teach them with how people rehome kittens or puppies when the cat or dog gets pregnant on accident. Something like “Remember how Mrs. Johnson had all those kittens she couldn’t take care of? Sometimes people have babies they can’t take care of, so they give them to other people who want or can’t have babies of their own and will love them just as much.”
That’s it. It’s seriously that simple. Please stop making adoption a huge deal that has to be hidden from your children.
This is so super important. I have a little cousin who’s adopted from Thailand and god its just so disgusting the idea of “real” parent hnngggggggggggñg. Normalize adoption.
We had to correct Stinkface last time we went to visit because he kept saying Real Mum. It turns out that it was something that he learned at school because we’ve always used Birth Mum with him. Normalising helps everyone.
And when you’re in a situation where a parent literally steps out of your life, people like to go “That’s not your REAL mom/dad!” when they see you with an adopted parental figure. Like it’s somehow your fault that your family isn’t a perfect little nuclear bubble. Let’s stop shaming kids for being adopted too, okay? Even though my mom is my birth mom, I’ve got like six dads who helped raise me when my dad skipped out. (I adopted them, they’re my dads, it’s not legal like these hypothetical adoptions per se, but to my mind it counts.) And usually when someone at school found out about it, the next thing out of their mouth was a “REAL dad” phrase. Fuck this blood=the only family thing. It’s wrong. Family is what you make of it. And we need to find a way to draw that into the narrative of the ‘traditional family’.
