GUYS I’M FINALLY DROPPING A LIST ABOUT MY GODS IN THE ODYSSEY NNT AU HEHEHHEH
I’ll be reblogging this post when I feel ready to drop who’s which God/monster/character
Remember that I’m trying to adapt greek mythology with nanatsu no taizai characters, so it’s not going to be: “hey guys this character’s Apollo!” Nono, they’ll may parallel the characters from the original source material but I want to make them characters of their own and preserve some of their essence they have in the anime:)
Also i’m mixing the original odyssey with my own ideas with epic (mostly epic cause I can’t stop listening to it on repeat hahahaha)
Okayyyyy first three ones:
The long awaited Melizabeth family!!!!
Meliodas: King of the Underworld, God of fortune/misfortune, controller of shadows and darkness. His main task is to protect tartarus and making sure no one from there escapes, especially his father (to do so he had to sacrifice himself into staying in the Underworld, he only can come to the surface twice a year, and that’s to make his wife company when she has to go to the surface or return to the Underworld with him).
(Just think about the Melizabeth dates guys, twice a year Eli shows Meliodas a different place from the surface before he has to return to the Underworld🥹)
Elizabeth: Goddess of life and fertility. Married to Meliodas. Her story is a long one l'll tell later because it's important to understand a lot of relationships in the fic (I want it to be a surprise). But what I can tell is that for _____ reason she had to hide and lay low during some time and she found refuge at the Kingdom of Liones, a little island well connected to other kingdoms which was famous because their King had been blessed with the gift of foretelling and. She was so well received and felt as if the royal family was her own that she swore she’d always keep an eye on it. In other words, she blessed Liones with the gift of life, meaning that people there wouldn’t get as sick or even starve because the crops would always grow and the cattle would produce 3 times the average milk and offspring.
Thanks to Elizabeth, Liones thrived like never before. In her honour a sanctuary was built in her name (in the opposite side from where God Gowther’s sanctuary was, of course. To avoid making any offence to him…)
(That last part will be explained another day, sorry:))
And last but not least THE BOY
Tristan
.
.
.
Okay yeah, now TRISTAN
Tristan: God of bliss, of feeling complete with oneself, of therapy and of dishinibition. He’s A pretty young God, in fact he looks like his age (12 years old) and that’s uncommon for Gods, they are usually either born fully grown or take lots of years for them to grow up, Elizabeth suspects that maybe the reason for this is her living with humans for so many years. But don’t worry, Zeldris (God of death) helped his brother to confirm that Tristan’s still inmortal.
Elizabeth, as a present for her son after being born, gave him a fruit to connect him to the surface and it’s life, as for his safety Meliodas and Elizabeth decided that Tristan wasn’t going to leave the Underworld until he’s fully grown up.
So his last title: “God of inhibition”, is indeed thanks to her mother, as the fruit she gave her child was no other than grapes, the fruit used to make wine.
Fun fact: Tristan has the ability to produce wine and grow grape vines out of nowhere (his room is full of them) and it’s one of the little things that can grow there, along with pomegranates and what Elizabeth decides to plant.
(I like to think that when he was little kid he sometimes left wine stains everywhere he touched because he couldn’t control it, I even have a mini one shot where his uncle Gowther visits him and gets his cape stained when Tristan tries to grab it haha. A mini detail I’d like to add is that he still does this if he’s too nervous, he sweats wine lmao)
Btw, the story starts with Tristan.
I would take the suffering for youuuuu
.
.
Let’s continue
.
Derieri: goddess of wildlife and hunt, protector of women. Myths say that she goes looking for human women strong enough to join her huntresses, these women usually are having deep solitude emotions or have felt deeply betrayed, Derieri can feel this emotions and with the help of the moonlight can teleport these women at night.
It’s pretty common she demands sacrifices, human sacrifices, she’s easily enraged.
Her temples are places where women can take refuge in, men cannot enter if they don’t want to feel her rage.
Important note: don’t ask about what happened to her sister.
Monspeet: God of fire, he’s the one who gave the fire of knowledge to humans. He was heavily punished by this: he couldn’t return to Olympus or talk ever again, myths say that as his last word spoken was so long ago his mouth just disappeared from not using it.
He is very protective of Derieri.
Both of them were originally from Olympus, but millennias ago, after what happened to Derieri’s sister (which was before Monspeet’s incident) they are more terrenal deities, though Monspeet doesn’t mix with humans after last time.
