If you didn't hear, Substack is now officially a Nazi site. Officially as in "the CEO has said they wouldn't ban Nazis, and that they are welcome to monetize their content on Substack". I think this is the first time a major web platform has openly say they are ok with making money out of open Nazis and white nationalists.
Substack CEO reasoning is "we don't like nazis, but we defend their right to be nazis". But, of course, at the same time, substack bans sex workers from using their platform.
So yeah, if you have a Substack account, maybe it's time to move somewhere else. As they say, if there's a Nazi at the table and 10 other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with 11 Nazis.
“We don’t think that censorship (including through demonetizing publications) makes the problem go away.”
i feel like one of the weirdest realizations you (or at least i) eventually have a few years into transitioning and being mostly around other trans people, is that moment where u notice that like ur brains mapping of like specific voices to specific genders is just kinda gone. like it rly is just all social constructs programmed into u by society, and living outside societies idea of gender just kinda melts that shit away, and it's not just voices, like other traditionally gendered attributes also suddenly don't matter anymore*
*except for myself of course, i am obviously totally failing at being a girl but everyone is doing it perfectly, dysphoria is so awesome lmao
the real deep message here btw isn't just about gender, but about the general ability of the human brain to shed off bad socialization and habits if we change the environment we're in for the better and i feel like that's massive
could you do the nonbinary flag with dragon-type miku? :]
the nonbinary (non-binary) flag color picked from dragon type trainer hatsune miku and miraidon
After I came out as bi a few years ago, a fellow Chinese American asked me, “so does this mean you want to be like white people?”
As QTBIPOC, a form of LGBTQA-phobia we often face is from our own ethnic groups, who believe that queer = foreign.
Yet when we delve into our histories, we see that nothing could be further than the truth. In many of our cultures, before Western influence, our queerness was ANCIENT. ✨
It has been amazing to see how aids has been controlled, definitely a win for humanity
Please remember testimonials like this the next time you donate to or volunteer for medical research charities/causes.
Even if you don’t save lives TODAY, it will have a huge impact on the lives of people in several decades. Or even a few short years from now.
Thank anyone in the medical research field whom you meet! They save lives just as much as physicians do, if not more.
Hi guys! ❤️
So I feel a bit weird posting this but I realized I have a small platform on here, what with people messaging me to come out or for queer advice (please keep it up, I love helping. I hope I’m helpful) and I just want to give some people some general reminders:
If you are young, queer, and ESPECIALLY trans:
Know. Your. Rights.
Let me explain:
Do you know what you can and cannot get arrested for in your state/country (specifically when it comes to queerness)? Do you know it IN DETAIL? Careful, people lie. Look it up.
Do you know what your rights are if you are arrested? Again, know this in detail. Don’t say “oh it won’t happen to me.” It could.
Do you know what you have a right to at work? At school? In public? Look it up. People will not always hand things to you even if it is the law. It’s horrible and disgusting but sometimes you have to remind people what you have a right to do and have.
I don’t say this to make you scared. BUT Here’s the thing- this is reality. No matter where you live or what you look like, there are people who might try to hurt you or treat you unfairly because of your queerness.
You should not have to be your own advocate. You should not have to do research on these things. But you need to.
If you or anyone else is struggling to find information about laws and rights in your area, PLEASE message me. I am more than willing to help.
Here are a few questions to get you started:
What are your rights if arrested? Do you have a right to a lawyer? A trial? To be told why you were arrested?
What are your country’s laws regarding search and seizure?
What are your country’s laws regarding being gay, pda when in a gay relationship, and ‘cross dressing’?
What are your country’s laws regarding bathrooms and gendered spaces?
What are your rights in school/work? ARE YOU BEING GIVEN ALL OF THEM?
I know that all of this is very nuanced but please do your best to educate yourself, for your own safety. Again, I am always here to help ❤️❤️❤️
Please reblog to reach more people and please add on any other advice!
we cannot afford to not be normal about pregnant men
like all trans people who can get pregnant need more awareness and support but on an ideological level theres a special focus put on men getting pregnant because its the most visceral offense to cissexism. and it feels clear to me that right wingers are actually a lot more willing to take male pregnancy seriously than a lot of leftists who don't seem to see it is an important thing to discuss?
Shaun Simmons was harassed and abused while working for Amazon while pregnant
Camdyn Rider was killed by his partner
A Black trans man was arrested because a police officer thought his bump was stolen clothes
Freddy McConnell was denied the right to be his child's legal father
Thomas Beatie went through so much shit
A trans man had a stillbirth because the hospital didn't consider pregnancy even though they knew he was trans
I've seen people talk about how it will traumatize children to see their trans father's unnatural, mutilated body and be told he gave birth to them. and how trans fathers will groom their children into the "trans cult." and i have absolutely seen people advocating for trans fathers being labeled child abusers who should have their children taken away. thats obviously a risk for all trans parents but there is obviously extra vulnerability when it comes to being physically pregnant! as seen with Shaun Simmons, male-presenting trans people are extra vulnerable to workplace abuse while pregnant, leaving them financially vulnerable! i've seen trans men talk about being denied emotional support after getting an abortion because they saw it as "removing a tumor"; i imagine trans people suffering postpartum mental illness or health issues are going to have even more difficulty receiving treatment, esp if its related to dysphoria. pretty much all pregnant trans men i've seen have talked about being misgendered and othered while getting medical care, being socially isolated once they start showing. we cannot afford to not be normal about pregnant men.
PSA
It’s trans, not trans*
It’s trans men and trans women, not transmen and transwomen—trans is an adjective that answers “what kind of men/women"—cis works the same way
Never call trans men FTMs or trans women MTFs without their permission
Trans is short for transgender, it’s not plural for anything—trans person and trans people are both correct
Never use “born in the wrong body” or “used to be a boy and became a girl” or “biologically/genetically male/female”—all are just fancy ways to misgender someone (self identification with these phrases is different)
Transgendered is wrong, so is “a transgender” and “transgenders”
Being trans is not a sexuality nor is it a “sexual disorder” or any kind of disorder at all—gender identity disorder is not a real thing, and being trans isn’t a medical condition
“Transsexual” is generally considered an offensive term and should never be used to describe someone without their permission
Don’t refer to a trans person’s gender as their gender identity, it’s just their gender
Similarly don’t refer to their pronouns as “preferred pronouns"—they’re not preferred, they’re mandatory
DOCTOR WHO (2005) - The Star Beast
one thing i found interesting about the hbomb video about plagerism is that no one is really doing their research anymore and we all get our info from videos, hence why trusting somerton was so easy: he presented himself as a professional and it was hard for his viewers, who got most of their info via him, to factcheck it.
here’s some books i’ve either read or have on my reading list, pt 2 coming soon

On the subject of He/Him (caps required), can't forget the classic:

how to meld all ur identities into one n not be afraid to exist as a contradiction
