The Johnny Appleseed they don’t want you to know about
My one boring tip to anyone in their 20s is to resist the temptation to rot in your room every time you get a free moment. Dismiss any neuroses you have about going outside and "being perceived". Be a dictator about it, plan your hangouts like they are binding commitments. No excuses! Go to the bar with your friends. Be kinda hungover at work. Socializing is like exercise; even if you don't feel like you want to, you should still do it because it's good for you.
I saw this and felt like it should be shared here too

fun little hack is that if you're the only one at a suburban pedestrian crosswalk and a car is coming, oftentimes the way to get where you're trying to go fastest is to step back a little and look around/at the scenery/at your phone.
because otherwise you have to do the "driver waves you to go, you wave driver to go, driver waves you to go again" dance, where you're scared they'll start driving while you walk and they're scared that you'll start walking while they drive.
when instead you can signal from the outset that you're not walking, allowing them to drive on without fear of running you over and saving you both a pointless negotiation on "who goes first" which benefits no one.
#strategy
if it's only one car I make like a swoopy boomerang-shaped "I am going behind you" gesture with my hand and then pointedly start walking behind their car, which usually gets them to pull forwards. The swoop is crucial though, otherwise it just looks like you're walking straight at their door handle to go beat them up.
please vote for tylenol to have her face on a beer can $1 for 1 vote and the donation goes to the baltimore animal rescue and care shelter
TYLENOL HAS MADE IT INTO THE TOP TEN LETS FUCKING GO
VOTE NOW SO WE CAN SEE TYLENOL'S FACE ON BEER CANS IN THE DITCHES BY THE SIDE OF THE ROAD!!!
If you all will allow me a moment to analyze the competition as it exists, there's something interesting going on with the numbers.
As we all know, thanks to the support of the good people of Tumblr, Tylenol has experienced a meteoric rise to second place. Even though her competition is stiff, I believe in Tylenol's ability to go the distance.
But let's take a look at the competition:
Elmer seems to be a lovely boy. I have no qualms with Elmer, and think he would look fantastic on a beer can. But what about Elmer's campaigns? Who is the power behind the throne here, and how have they managed to find such breakout success on this competition?
A handful of wealthy donors are trying to buy this competition.
At the end of the day, all donations are good donations here. This is a charity event so every penny earned is going to help animals in need. But it's not lost on me that Elmer's current ranking is thanks entirely to a few individuals with the financial means to put their thumbs on the scale.
Tylenol's donors, comparatively, are small and numerous, mostly $1-10 donations from many passionate believers in what she stands for (autism and pain relief I think).
Overall, the donations tell a very different story than what the base ranking shows you. Elmer is held aloft by just 24 donors and bolstered by a few wealthy patrons, whereas Tylenol has won the hearts of literally hundreds of people. Even the current third place, Abby, owes her ranking to numerous small contributions rather than one or two large ones.
Tylenol is the people's princess.

Good news!
Tylenol is real! I love you Tylenol!
A vote for Tylenol is a vote for the people
literal children don't get lawyers for us immigration hearings anymore.
More than 20,000 unaccompanied children risk going to US immigration court alone after federal funding cuts
GENEVA – UN experts* today expressed concern at the impact of terminating federal funding for legal services for unaccompanied children in i
Please don't forget the children suffering right now. If you've got the ability, donate to the Safe Passage Project, an organization that provides children in nyc and long island going through the deportation process with free immigration lawyers. and they win 90% of their cases!!
I love jaywalking with another pedestrian lol we’re unionized
It's important to note that Chekhov's Gun was not originally about foreshadowing, but a piece of advice to playwrights about how every element in a play should have narrative relevance. The corollary to Chekhov's Gun is that if a gun mounted on the wall in act 1 is never used at all in the entirety of the play, then it should be omitted from the play entirely.
also very true
Very funny example of writing advice that is very specific to its medium getting overapplied outside its scope. Can you imagine how awful set design would be if people tried to apply this to movies. 60 minute post credits scene in the Matrix where Neo has to fire every gun that appears in the "lots of guns" scene
